Help me perfect a pup pricing formula!

What about breed only bases? They might be covered by the rarity modifier, which would also keep more boring BO bases like gray darker and gray lighter from being overpriced, but at the same time they are breed only, and therefore harder to get. It seems to me like they should be accounted for somewhere.

Well it's pretty hard to take in factors because some might look at stats, some at bases(Me), some at markings, so everyone's opinion would be different. Not sure if someone has said this but generally clean wolves are more desirable, probably because of inbreeding taboos and stuff. I don't really care about clean or unclean, but generally most people prefer clean wolves or use the clean stuff as a extra beneficial factor in auctions and similar things.

But in reality, I don't think the general trend would be very clear. There will be a lot of outliers. So much that they start to even not be outliers. The most you can get is a general direction, but keep trying!

HELLO FELLOW SPREADSHEET NERD! You are my people <3 I would love to see the spreadsheet so I can make a copy and start tracking myself. I will also GLADLY start selling/pricing pups based on this formula and let you know the stats on if they sell, how fast they sell, if they end up getting chased, etc for future formula tweaking.

WOOOO WELCOME NEW FOLKS! Here is a copy of the spreadsheet for people to make a copy of and use! I've kept in my wolves into the shareable version so folks can see differences in pricing etc. Make a copy and make it your own if you so wish!! And @Asara pleeeease do share how the pricing works out in the real world market! Testing is always an important part of science XD

@Moonshadow - I think you're right that you're never going to get something perfect, but that general direction is really the key! And yes you're v right to bring attention to clean vs inbred - we've been discussing slightly penalizing inbreds by multiplying the entire equation by 0.75 if they're inbred, thus bumping the price down - how does that shake out with your experience of when people value clean vs inbred?

@HollowWorld - I haven't quite figured out how to account for breed-only bases, but considering them in the rarity modifier is an interesting idea. Maybe if they're breed only and below a certain % they'd get a boost?

@Wildtale - the stud question is one that plagues me too!! Maybe having a "future stud" modifier but that so far has been really hard to pinpoint. Any thoughts?

Oh, I didn't even think about actually combining the breed-only with the rarity modifier, but I think that would work! A boost for being a breed-only base AND being below a certain rarity would keep things like gray lighter bases from being overpriced, while still giving that bump to the breed only bases that are tougher to get. And I think the same sort of equation applied to special NBW bases would also be a good idea. Not sure how big the boost should be, or where the rarity cutoff should be though. Those kinds of numbers are hard for me to get my head around.

Thank you for starting this, by the way! I've been having a lot of fun making my own spreadsheet, and it's been really interesting to watch how much a price will rise or fall just by adding or removing one category.

I've been following this thread frequently to see what everyone comes up with and eventually I think this would be a great way to price pups once you feel it is fine tuned! Once the market calms down and new bases and markings are e eventually added having a pricing set up that is site wide seems like it would make selling wolves a bit easier than just tossing them onto TC with a random price in goes they sell.

So please keep up what you guys are all doing if you think you can make something great with this <3 Not everyone might use it, but there is clearly a following of people who would from the looks of everyone participating!

@Derpy, no one thinks it's going to be perfect? The first post even says as much. It's just a way to get an idea of how much a pup's worth, and it's fun for people who like messing with formulas and the like.
