Sometimes Less Is More: Sparse Marking Appreciation Station

Sometimes Less Is More: Sparse Marking Appreciation Station

Not every wolf needs 10 markings at 100% opacity to look good. Sometimes it's best to let one or two markings make a statement, or let a pretty base color shine through; you may even find that nothing in the Wardrobe improves on a wolf with some empty slots!

I want to see your favorite wolves with 4 markings or less. Whether it's your 3m starter, an NBW,  or a 'potato' pup that didn't inherit every mark, let's appreciate them for their simple yet striking coats!

I just bought this 4m pup, and all I did was bump up the opacity on slot 7. Her adult preview is so good, I can't wait for her to grow up!

Loki is my 2m star scout, and again I only changed the opacity on his cape to match his Irish mark. I love his simple Border Collie aesthetic.

Maple was my custom 3m companion and I'm very happy with the cool/warm contrast I chose for her coat!

My pupsitter, Pyre, gets a lot of love!  I did customize her, but she's only 4M and unlikely to ever get more, since I don't really plan on breeding her.

And I bought Oriole as a pup and fussed with her markings a little (removed one, added one, bumped up opacities) but she's also only 4M and I just love how striking she looks!

My entire pack of "keepers" is 12 wolves. Out of that, 9 have four or less markings. My two leads have 6, but aren't getting any more. And I have one handsome hunter that I didn't breed that has 5, but the rest? All have four or less.

Here's Fahr, my Finisher, one of my two Tutorial pups. He only has 3 markings and I was lucky enough that one of them was the combo marking, Silver Dilution. I love his simple contrast that makes his eyes stand out.

Here's his littermate, Yun. She's one of my Scouts. She's a Breed Only Gray Darker, but just has one marking.

From the second litter is Dyrr, my future Stalker. Just two markings.

His sister, Eyrn, a lovely Biotite with just three markings. She's aimed to be my Herbalist.

Roff here is one of my Chasers to be. He has 4 markings.

Vok, my third Chaser, just two pretty markings.

And the two sisters, Lree and Shuna, who are going to be my Pupsitters. Both with just one marking.

I often think the wolves with lots of markings are too 'busy', especially if all their opacities are cranked up. Simple patterns are often really nice!

This boy was my first pup, only three markings:

Got this girl for 5SC, just three markings:

My favorite NBW, technically three markings but one of them is 6% opacity so that barely counts:

And then these two boys are three markings each, and I got both of them from ugly/unwanted pups threads:

I vibe so hard with my Lead and Companion even with only 3 markings each, haha

Pity I didn't set him as my breeder, but hey, I can still appreciate him as is haha

I’m keeping my two starters at three markings because they’re perfect as-is.

Their mate has no markings and never will.

Wow, there are some great wolves here!  That first 4m pup is very pretty, and I love Maple, she reminds me of one of my starters! (first pic below)

Pyre and Oriole both also look amazing.

And here are some more of mine!  All still adolescents and I'm too lazy to do adult previews, but.

4 markings but one is at opacity 1% and shouldn't count:

3 markings:

2 markings, the Doubloon base looks great enough without more:

There are so many gorgeous wolves in this thread! It’s amazing to see what you can do with just a few markings!

This is my breeding male, Dafrei (he's based on a character where green is a very important color, which is why I chose the Khaki base color). He only has 3 markings and I wanted him to have more of a shepherd look to him.

This is my lead wolf, Kanera (also based off of a character where red is very important). She also only has 3 markings and she looks like an adorable little red panda!!

Both of these were customised UwU

EDIT: Uh for some reason the images didn't stick when I posted and Idk how to get them to stick, so I had to use their links, sorry! >.<

EDIT: Thanks to Nika for helping me fix that!
