Pack Rules

- A Pupsitter must never abandon their charges.

- There must not be more than one healer in the pack at one time.

-  Scouts must travel in pairs.

- The Queen or King of the pack must always share the blood of Ajambo.

- Only the pack leader may hunt.

- Each leader must take a mate upon ascending the position of Queen or King.

- The Nighttime Hunters must never break their alliances.

Religion and Worship

The Nighttime Hunters primarily worshipped the sun and moon, though over time these became Ajambo and Day, and once they died the two former alphas were seen as embodiments of the sun and moon.

They also worship Thaija, the black-tinted curly-furred she-wolf who resides in the sky. In the day, she goes out to lead her pack of stars, but once the sun sets she curls up and sleep, causing the sky to go from black to blue and back again. Thaija is described as being winged, with long white feathers that resemble a dove's. Her muzzle is narrow, and is covered with scars from countless fights against Jhai.

Jhai is the cloud diety. His fur is considered to be pale gray, with white merle splotches and dark gray cloud-like splotches on his tail and toes. He controls the winds and the clouds. He is allied with Askaw, though he is mortal enemies with Thaija, the only other being with the power of flight. However, Thaija has wings, whereas Jhai has the air rush up under his paws, carrying him through the air.

Askaw is the god of nature, and the patron of all Healers of this pack. He blesses the pack with the seasons, and the leader with a plentiful hunt. His pawsteps create lakes and his sweat creates rain. Askaw is described as having long curly fur that is the color of fallen autumn leaves, with eyes as green as tendrils of ivy. He carries with him a wreath of flowers around his neck, and because of this the Healers wear it too.

The only other deity that the Nighttime Hunters believe in is Szaki, the ruler of the dead. Pups are told that if they won't behave, Szaki will burst out of the ground and take them back to his realm. Szaki is described as having fur as black as midnight, with red splotches that resemble blood. His tail curls upwards, and his teeth are as sharp as iron. He decides who lives and who dies and who survives the night.

Customs

The customs and culture of the Nighttime Hunters are seen as strange and alien to other packs, but to the pack members it is second nature.

When the pack leader brings home prey, the pack must do a ceremonial dance around the carcass of the animal, giving thanks to Askaw for the plentiful meal.

When a wolf dies, the pack must bury them in a sacred grove in the forest known as the Honeysuckle Circle, with an offering such as an animal carcass to Szaki to appease him.

When the moon is full, a kill has been made, and the sky is clear of clouds and debris, the pack must honor the gods with a night of rampage and destruction. The Hemelstorm Cult also occasionaly participates in these activities.

Each time a wolf gives birth, the runt or the sickliest pup must be driven from the pack. If the mother refuses to give up her pup, she will be driven from the pack as well.
