Raise & Chase

Posted 2020-11-17 09:53:34

I’m more than happy to provide spare medicine and free/reduced studding to members as well! He’s gonna get a lot of custom marks for him, so he’ll hopefully make some gorgeous pups. I’m pretty much biding my time while I wait for my chaseable babies to grow up, so I’m just collecting herbs, medicines, and SC/GC while I wait...

I agree TKG, I will say I'm definitely being a lot more selective about the males I'm raising for the project and I might even start focusing on collecting Sex Changers for my chase bbs.

@keld for the food I'd just send it to someone on here who needs it! I wouldn't want it to rot sitting in my hoard haha.

& @TKG I think you're right! I personally don't bother keeping pups to chase unless they're on the nicer side!

BUT, I wouldn't want to enforce a standard as such 'cause I wouldn't wanna discourage people from chasing! IMO, even a slightly boring chased wolf is better than just a regular NBW (though if a pup has 3 common marks & a common base- ie, would be indistinguishable from a regular NBW- I would probably rec against chasing it)

But I would like to encourage chasing nicer wolves! Maybe in addition to milestone goals (10 chased, 20 chased, etc) we can have a prize for 'best' wolf chased of the month, awarding points for rarer bases & marks? I'll think abt it! This group is super new, so please keep coming w/ the suggestions, I'm still figurin it all out!

Perhaps a general guideline should be 4 or more markings on a common base? Less markings if the chased candidate has a rare marking, like Inuit or Merle markings?

Maybe a good guideline could be

- has at least 4 markings

and/or

- has a rare base (either Tier II or breed only)

and/or

- has RMA markings

Maybe a bonus for particularly high stats pups too? If the chased wolves keep their stats it would surely be nice to find a wolf with 300+ stats

I don't think chased wolves will keep their stats, so high stats really mean nothing.

I am planning to chase nicer looking wolves, but it's rather subjective. A lot of markings don't always mean a nice looking wolf. High marked wolf could be unappealing colorbomb (that looks like vomit) while two marked wolf looks nice because markings + base goes well together.

For example, to me even a double merle or inuit means nothing if the colours look nasty and muddy together and if the base is unflattering too. Meanwhile, another person would like it just for the double merle/inuit, without caring does it really look together. And perhaps for them, it looks good together.

So I don't think there should be strict guidelines, but more of just general 'recommendations' what would be good to chase.

I have a T2 stud, I’ll give half off breedings for anyone breeding pups for this project! Just lmk when you send the stud request.

@cricket could you write up a list of breeders who have discounted or refunded stud fees for the project?
