interest check - interactive gecko adopts

interest check - interactive gecko adopts

so, i thought of making some lil interactive gecko adopts!

they'd be called gecklings or geckolings, i'm not sure which yet. they'd come in all sorts of colors and lots of markings. you'd be able to 'explore' to find and tame them, and then breed them and fun stuff like that; you could also just buy them for auction/flatsale.

they would have selected markings, like say "spots", so any geckling with "spots" would have the exact same appearance of markings; but there'd be lots of markings and they'd come in different colors. probably, markings would only be revealed when someone got a geck with that marking.

here's some really really rough concept art, showing 2 possible lineart varieties and some marking varieties.

EDIT: so I made a more refined sketch and sorta colored two example things of what gecks could look like! One more natural and one more unnatural colored. :)

EDIT2: more detail on exploring! there would be 5 or 6 (not sure yet) biomes which would give different colored gecklings (and other items). there would also probably be biome-exclusive markings, which could only be found in gecks from a certain biome: these would have to be discovered by players, however, while the colors will be stated.

and more general stuff. gecks would have a base color, which would be written as a hex code. (ex. #FFFFFF) their markings would have names and each marking would also have a color. their eyes would also have colors. there'd be lineart changing stuff too, like the 'crested' geckling in the first post lineart example stuff.

geckling babies are called gecklets. when breeding, the gecklets will have a hex code somewhere between their parents' or the same as one of their parent's, same for their eye color probably, and their markings would probably be randomized - not sure on that yet, but probably something like:

if the parents both have only 1 marking, and the markings are different, there's a 50/50 chance for the gecklet getting one of the markings. if they have the same marking, it's an 100% chance. if one parent has a single marking and the other has none, there's a 50/50 chance, either for the marking or no marking. however, markings could also have rarities, which would determine the chance. i'm not totally sure on everything but this is the basic concept :)

EDIT3: ok, so now i've made the actual base i'd probably use. it's in a different, much more cartoony style, and i prefer it. it looks more gecko-y. so yeah, i'll probably try making a thread for these lil guys even if i don't get much interest here. what price should one be? they'd probably have fairly complex markings so like,,, 3 gc/240 sc (at an 80:1 conversion rate)? anyway here's the base

ok even more exploring detail... and i've come up with like 14 potential items,,, so yea that

anyway, you'd have to purchase an "explore token" to explore one of the 6 biomes, which each give different color types. i've figured out the basic odds for how often you'll get certain items in those biomes. but those'll probably change with time. i've also designed about 4 possible gecks.

i've also changed how markings would work, originally i was thinking there'd be "set" markings - like in wolvden, all wolves with say carnage have the exact same art for that marking - but now i'll remove that, so the markings are just like whatever looks good. there will be, somewhat, "marking slots" tho, like in wolvden, and there'll be items to add or remove markings; the slots will mainly be behind-the-scenes, however, just for my own convenience.

dhdfh i'm actually going to make this at some point and stop just brainstorming i promise--

I love the base you've posted, it's super cute! I've never bought an adoptable before but I'd buy this one :)

@Casmira -- I'm really sorry :(  If you do want to check out my new adopts I'm working on, there's a link above, but if not it's fine. I will consider coming back to these at some point, and again sorry about that, but thank you for showing interest even if I'm no longer working on them. ^^'
