Pebblepaw (F) | Med Cat App | Location: RainClan territory| Mentions: Skyeyes, Moon

She felt her belly twist itself in knots at the vexation that stemmed from her mentor, who was seemingly frustrated with her decision to climb the tree. She hadn't meant any harm out of it- she swore by it! Pebblepaw swallowed nervously, feeling her heart pound in her chest out of both fear from potentially falling to her death, and fear that she had fractured the bond between herself and the medicine cat. She could hear Moon greeting her down below, but she had no time to try and talk. She was in enough trouble as was.

Pebblepaw hesitated, glancing down at the branches frantically and attempting to find her way down. She tried one way, then paused and immediately pulled her leg back up. I can't! She wanted to cry out like some helpless kit, and wait for a warrior to come up and retrieve her. But she knew that quitting would only upset Skyeyes further. As would falling, but...

...Why was this so hard?

The tiny silver tabby felt her legs quiver as she, once more, attempted to scale down the tree. She nervously grouped around with her hind leg to find a branch below, before placing most of her weight against the rough-barked tree trunk and slowly scaling downward. Her movements were slow and shaky, and at one point, she felt her paws slip beneath her and she nearly fell to her death, before she had caught herself once more.

Slowly but surely, Pebblepaw finally found her way back down to the ground, where her entire frame shook from fright. Never again.

Murtagh (M) | Rogue | Location: Forest | Mentions: Raven

He spat out a clump of feathers to shoot a small glare in the direction of the black-furred loner. "If I were scared, I would've run off with my tail in between my legs and would have never have taken this critter down. I'm not afraid of much." Not anymore, he added mentally before returning his attention to his catch, continuing to remove and place the pheasant's feathers into a neat pile before he was finally able to tear into the meat.

Although she seemed to plow through her meal in a merciless and quick fashion, Murtagh seemed to take his time. Considering that he'd been without the threats of his past for several moons, he'd learned to relax. He had his moments when he felt the need to feel defensive and on-edge, but today wasn't one of those times. With RainClan nearby, those mercs weren't likely to attempt to track him down.

Active? Hmmm...perhaps they had been hunting near each other, and Raven had noticed the group of chatting she-cats as well. "Assuming we're talking about the same cats, one of 'em was a kittypet. Doesn't happen often." The sapphire-eyed lynx point commented passively with a small flick of his tail, finally finishing his meal. "It'll run back to its nasty housefolk- they always do. World's too scary for them, requires too much effort. They'd rather get fat on rabbit pellets."

Shadeheart || Deputy || Tag: Rogues, Patrol

The dark grey tom twitched his ears as turned his attention back over towards Kestrelheart as she spoke, a small smile crossing his face. "Of course and I think that should do well enough. Gives them time to learn and integrate into the clan a bit." He responded with a purr of approval.

He turned his gaze back towards the rogues and across what cats from their clan before turning his attention back to Kestrelheart. "I'm sure she will. If I think it is a good idea then I'm sure she will as well." He assured her, dipping his head a little before he turned his gaze back towards their current company.

.::Skyeyes::.

Mentions: Pebblepaw

Skyeyes sat at the base of the tree, tail still flicking. He kept his maw clamped shut impatiently. As grumpy as he was, he had probably embarrassed the young cat enough. He could wait until she was within earshot to give her a talking to.

Oh StarClan! The fur along his spine shot up and fear struck through him as he glimpsed Pebblepaw's feet slip. Thankfully, relief washed over him as she caught herself and reestablished her footing. By the time she planted her paws on the solid forest floor, his heartbeat had returned to normal. He began to feel sympathetic, seeing how much she was shaking.

"Pebblepaw, I know you didn't mean any harm, but you put yourself into a lot of danger doing that." he meowed in a calm, even tone, "You're a very promising 'paw, I would hate to lose you."

He bumped his head against her shoulder warmly, letting her know his anger had dissipated and he had only been worried for her.

Mentions: Murtagh

Raven pushed the bones and feathers of her catch away and flopped over on her side. She started grooming her pelt lackadaisically. She turned an ear towards Murtagh as he spoke. She wasn't as familiar with the terms he used to describe the strangers, but she could guess from the context. She, too, had smelled the nofur scents emanating off of one of the she-cats in the trio.

She wrinkled her nose at the thought of the kittypet food, "I had to scarf that stuff down, once. I almost choose to starve rather than choke on those things."

A breeze caught one of her discarded dove feathers and she was struck with the whim to pounce on it. She jumped to her feet and trapped it beneath her forepaws, tail waving eagerly. She flopped over and kicked out at it with her rear legs as if it were an attacker. She sneezed, the feather tickling her nose, and sat back up nonchalantly.

Pebblepaw (F) | Med Cat App | Location: RainClan territory| Mentions: Skyeyes

It wasn't common for her to get a scolding from her mentor, or from any cat for that matter. Pebblepaw had always been obedient and generally a good cat, one who frequently kept her nose clean and did as she was told. But was it so wrong for her to just climb a tree, to get a taste of what it was like to be similar to the other apprentices. Gut feeling heavy with guilt, the tabby apprentice immediately dropped her amber gaze to her paws, shuffling them around anxiously as her mentor began to speak.

To be honest, Pebblepaw never had real parental figures in her life. She never knew her father- her young mother was so on-and-off with the tom that he eventually gave up on the clan and left, sick of the she-cat's indecisive nature. When he was still with RainClan, he never dared to visit the nursery. Honestly, she couldn't even remember what he looked like. She wasn't even certain if her mother had ever pointed him out before. And her mother...being that the she-cat was inexperienced, she wasn't the best at parenting. Pebblepaw had loved her nonetheless- for as long as she was around, anyways.

For a cat who lost her parents at such a young age, it was somewhat of a miracle that Pebblepaw turned out alright.

She just really loved her clanmates.

At her mentor's comforting touch, the quivering feline couldn't resist scooting a bit closer, glancing up at Skyeyes with a round-eyed apologetic gaze. "I-I didn't mean to put myself into a bad situation, I-" The intense guilt made her belly feel so intense that all the words were promptly forced out, like a pressurized geyser of remorse. "...I just wanted to see the sunrise. I-I never get to see the sky or feel close to StarClan in such a dark, scary cave..."

Pebblepaw felt her jaws tense, and she swallowed the lump in her throat. "...I promise I won't be a mouse-brain again."

Murtagh (M) | Rogue | Location: Forest | Mentions: Raven

He watched as the she-cat attacked the feather, quietly amused by her sudden surge of kit-like energy. "Seeing that the feather nearly defeated you, I'm not surprised that you had to stuff yourself with rabbit-pellets to survive." The silvered feline offered his jet companion an entertained twitch of his whiskers. Back in his days on the run, he had to take some desperate measures himself, but he didn't think he could ever bring himself to eat that kittypet pellet filth. He did have some pride and dignity. Stooping down to anything near the level of a kittypet? He could never do such a thing.

He licked his pale whiskers once his own meal was finished, and he twitched his ears in the direction of the nearby abandoned burrow. "I'll be hiding these feathers for leafbare. Birds won't stick around, so I like to stock up on their plume to keep myself warm during the cold moons." Murtagh paused as he rose to his paws in a semi-stretch, thinking towards the future. "...Although, you'll likely find plenty of warmth with RainClan."

Admittedly, he was somewhat saddened by the thought that she would be leaving his company so soon. It was nice to finally have another cat to travel with, one that wasn't brutal and thrived on thieving from starving families. Although, he'd surely meet her at the border, when he pestered the nearby patrols as they attempted to pass by and continue with their duties. He'd have to ensure that he regularly bothered her as well.
