Adam walked slowly across the cemetary, his pale green eyes scanning the multitudinous graves that littered the area, most crumbling and falling apart. In fact, the entire graveyard was obviously abandoned. The metal fence surrounding the area was derelict, and any flowers left on gravestones had long since withered. Yet the young boy walked on, his face plastered with a smile, as if he walked in a sunny park with green grass and healthy trees.

Though there were trees here, they were far from healthy. They were wickedly twisted into grotesque shapes, the tips of the branches curled like claws in wait of their prey. The only regular visitors to tend to the trees were the owls and other such birds that roosted in them, adding their own eerie calls to the already unnerving sound of the wind.

The boy stopped as he reached the middle of the graveyard, a deteriorated pavilion in front of him. He was intelligent enough not to attempt to stand on the rotted wooden planks of the old building, instead taking a seat next to it. He took a deep breath, seeming to relish in the crisp, cold air of the night. The boy closed his eyes, allowing himself a moment to enjoy the sounds of the sleeping graveyard, with the wind whistling gently and the owls hooting their displeasure at his arrival. When he opened his eyes again, his smile had grown wider. To most, this would mean that he seemed happier, but his grin only succeeded in making the boy look slightly unhinged. To anyone who knew him, they would agree that this was an accurate description of the young man, though no one could honestly claim that they knew him.

The boy lifted his fingers to his mouth and let out a long, birdlike whistle, letting it carry on as long as his lungs would allow. After that, he laid back in the grass, hands cushioning his head, and waited.

After a few moments, another sharp whistle sounded, this time coming from across the graveyard. Adam stood up, brushing off his jeans, and followed the sound until it tapered out. When he got to the source, a small creature stood in front of him. It was short, only about the height of Adam’s knees, and had pale green skin and a bald head.

The goblin looked up at him distastefully. Adam drew a small pouch out of his back pocket and dropped it into the creature’s outstretched palm with the clink of coins. With a grunt, the goblin produced a similar pouch, tossing it to Adam, then turned and walked away.

Adam opened the pouch carefully, looking through the contents. A much more sincere smile crossed his face as he confirmed all was there, but it was fleeting. He closed and tied the pouch, tucking it safely in his hoodie pocket.

Adam crouched down, his hands outstretched behind him. After a moment to gather himself, he jumped into the air, reaching much higher than the average human could.

And with a rustling sound, two wings sprouted from his back, just in time to keep him in the air. The boy flew into the night sky, his face set in a determined line. He had what he needed.

We interrupt this broadcast to bring you an emergency message

Recently, strange happenings have been taking place around the globe. Odd, giant plants have sprouted nearly everywhere, choking out natural plants. Weird new animals have been spotted, the most common a rodent like creature with six legs and two tails, blue-grey in color.

And people are changing. Overcome with intense, violent sickness, many have died. However, those who survive have developed strange new accessories. Some have lost their ears, only to have a mouse or wolf-like pair grow in its place. Others have tails, claws, odd hind legs, etc. The results vary, though no doctor can predict whether anyone will survive the strange disease, or what power will result from it. No cure has yet been found.

Teens have also been reported missing much more often than before, seeming to disappear out of thin air.

It is strongly suggested that viewers take extreme caution. Avoid overgrown areas or new animals, in an attempt to not contract the disease, which scientists have recently named the "Mutatio" strain, or "Muta" for short. Parents, it is wise to ask your children to come directly home after school, and elementary school students are asked to stay home until further notice. If you or a loved one are currently experiencing the following symptoms, it is asked you stay home. The symptoms are:

-Increased sweating even in normal temperature

-Blurry vision, muffled hearing, or incomprehensible, animal-like voices

-Intense pain in random areas

-Sudden bouts of nausea, weakness, exhaustion, anger, or sadness for no apparent reason

Other strange behavior that seems out of the ordinary.

We thank you for listening to this broadcast.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You venture to high school in the morning after bidding your family goodbye. There is a nervous feeling in your gut. You listened to the recent broadcast and had previously known about some of the happenings. The school baseball field was completely overtaken by strange plants, and you've seen one of the strange rodents among them.

You are eager to be inside the safety of the school building, especially with the recently added security. As you approach the school gates, a strange feeling of unease overtakes you. You stop for a moment and survey your surroundings. You see a man dressed in black down the street, but he quickly looks away when you notice him. You shake your head to rid yourself off your paranoia. You continue towards the building, feeling some relief as your cross the gates.

The school day passes without incident. During your last period, you start feeling slightly ill. You ask to be excused to the restroom, and the teacher lets you go. You splash some water in your face. When you leave the restroom, you notice a strange boy across the hall, smiling directly at you. He has blonde hair and wears a stylish green hoodie and faded blue jeans. His shoes are white and are obviously from an expensive brand. He waves at you, and you wave back, slightly confused. Do you know him?

He starts walking away, beckoning at you to follow him. When he turns, you notice he had two large holes cut into the back of his hoodie. Despite your better judgement, you feel an overwhelming desire to follow the boy. Against your better nature, you walk after him. Though you try your best to catch up with him, he always seems just a few steps ahead.

You feel a slight unease when he leads you out of the building, but the overwhelming feeling will not let you turn back. When you reach the edge of the school gates, he stand just outside, on the sidewalk. He beckons to you again. Fighting your feelings, you cross the gate threshold and step up to meet him.

"Don't worry." He says in a gentle, quiet voice. "It won't hurt." He says reassuringly, but you still feel some alarm. What won't hurt? You desperately try to turn away, but something keeps you rooted in place. He slowly extends a hand to you, lightly pressing his fingers to your forehead. The world swims before you, and everything goes black.

When you wake up, you are in a small room. It is very simple, with a bed, a small table with a chair, and a short, square dresser, and a door that you believe leads to a small bathroom. You are utterly confused, and alarmed as the recent events come back to you. You look around, finally noticing another door that blends in to the wall. You open it, and see it leads into a hallway with many doors similar to your own. As you hesitate to leave, other teenagers emerge from the doors, looking just as confused as you feel.

Someone notices that there are arrows painted on the floor. With nothing better to do, you and many others follow them. You eventually find yourself in a very large room with many chairs set up as if in assembly. Many are already filled with more scared and anxious looking teenagers. You find a seat, not knowing what else to do. The room is quiet except for a few small whispers. No one seems to know each other. More and more people file in, until every chair is filled. You count, at the very least, two hundred other teenagers.

The room suddenly goes dim, and a spotlight goes on over a small stage you hadn't noticed before. Standing on it is the same blonde boy who you saw at school, and you are unsure whether you are angry or scared. A few people in the crowd shout at him, demanding an explanation. It seems he brought the others here as well. The boy waits patiently, until the room is once again quiet.

"Hello, everyone." The boy speaks in a calm, soothing voice. "My name is Adam." He smiles at the crowd, making sure he has everyone's attention.

"I'm sure you're wondering why you're here." He nods, as if confirming something. "The answer to this question is, you are here because the rest of humanity is weak and pathetic, and you are the rare exception to their faults." Adam spoke in a calm, relaxed manner, as if he was chatting about the weather. A few in the crowd exclaimed angrily to his statement, but most were too shocked to speak.

"I'm sure you've noticed the recent changes in the world. The beautiful new plants and animals that have started to populate the earth, dominating over the weaker plants. This is only a prologue to what is coming. As I'm sure you know, many people around the world have been experiencing certain... changes in themselves. These people are extremely lucky. They carry a small portion of the blood of a noble race. The Fae." Adam said, seeming to sigh happily when he spoke his last two words. "The Fae, or sometimes called faeries by humans, were a peaceful race of magical creatures that dominated the earth before humans. The history is long and complicated, but in summary, humans came and drove them out. The Fae, unwilling to harm other creatures, went into hiding."

"No longer. As you may come to realize, everyone in this room was adopted by their parents." Adam said, allowing the crowd to process this information. A few people nodded in affirmation. "The truth is, none of you are actually human. You are the last of The Fae. Besides myself and a few others, of course." Adam said, revealing this information with a flourish. A few of the crowd laughed, thinking he was joking. However, the look on his face made them realize he was dead serious.

"You were planted in your families to be raised. Now you have been gathered together, so we can unlock your true potential as a noble, magical race." Adam sighed wistfully, his eyes eagerly roaming the crowd for their reactions. Most seemed skeptical.

"You don't believe me. No matter." Adam sighed, waving his hand. "You'll learn soon enough. Your schedule's will be given to you shortly." Adam finished. Questions came form the confused crowd.

"What do you mean, schedule?!" Someone cried.

"Exactly what I said." Adam responded. "Welcome to your new home, school, and future."

~Rules~

-All Wolvden rules apply-

-This is a semi-lit Role-play. I expect at least a paragraph for each post. Give others something to respond to-

-You are allowed 1 character as of now, but this may change in the future-

-Mild spelling errors are not a big deal. Were only human-

-Yes, your character will receive a schedule. Schedule's are subject to change. This is so that everyone has a chance to interact. This is still in the works, so we'll work out the kinks together-

-We are a friendly, tolerant community. Hate the character, not the player-

-I will announce shifts in schedule, aka when you are required to join your next assignment, class, whatever. However, in the future, this might change-

-At the beginning of the RP, no one has developed their powers yet! In your character sheet, you must plan out your powers and what your character will look like in the future, but at the beginning every character is only feeling the symptoms of the change-

-No god-modding, powerplaying, etc. Just don't.-

-Yes, each character is in an adoptive family, which means they don't know who their real parents are. However, your foster family can be listed in relationship son your character sheet.-

-No perfect characters. Everyone has flaws.-

-I know the rp right now might be a little vague direction wise, but this is to allow users to begin the rp without much constraint. The schedules will provide a setting, and you have your basic knowledge, but otherwise at the beginning you can just "exercise" your character, meaning you get use to playing them and discover what you might want to change about them, before the rp gets too serious-

-Rules will be added as time goes on-

@Athemis

(Sorry for not replying sooner! I was busy off-line with holiday things. The RP won't start for a while, probably. More people will need to join, and then I'll announce the start date of the RP)
