wolf stat imbalances - why do they happen?

Posted 2020-11-07 11:10:22

Knowing that me lead wolf started at 200 for everything...

She now has

Strength: 94
Speed: 92
Agility: 60
Wisdom: 55
Smarts: 61

Going back through my user log reveals:

Stats gained from level-ups: 6

+ 50 Strength
+ 44 Speed
+ 15 Agility
+ 12 Wisdom
+ 9 Smarts

Stats gained from fights:

+ 3 Strength (1 Wild Boar, 1 Frenzied Razorback, 1 Black Bear)
+ 8 Speed (2 Whitetail Buck, 3 Blacktail Buck, 2 Elk Bull, 1 Mexican Wolf)
+ 5 Agility (1 Bobcat, 3 Cougar, 1 Ocelot)
+ 3 Wisdom (1 Bald Eagle, 1 Turkey Vulture, 1 Ocelot)
+ 12 Smarts (3 Coyote Pack, 2 Eastern Wolf, 4 Timber Wolf, 1 Timber Wolf Pack, 2 Bald Eagle)

Huh. Huh??

Either I've miscounted, or she's grabbed some extra mystery stats from somewhere...? I don't think I'd be off by THAT much though??

Anyway, it does seem like most enemies have a specific stat or stats that they can give you!

You can also get stats from certain explore encounters! Off the top of my head, chasing/stalking the rabbit (speed/wisdom) and that encounter in the taiga with the bird on a log (agility), probably more.

You don’t seem that far off to me? Your lead would have started at 40 for each and it lines up pretty close?

Ah! Yeah, I think I muddled up what her starting stats would be and confused myself (for some reason I thought they were at 20 lmao). I didn't know you could get stats from encounters! Must not have registered them at all.

It looks to me like the level-up stats are pretty imbalanced!  strength/speed in the 40s-50s vs everything else in the 9-15 range...  Yeah, different animal encounters give different stats, but clearly the majority of the difference is from level-up stats.
