The area around you has a warm golden glow, however the sun and sky are obscured by thick fog. Dew collects on the dense undergrowth as the sun warms the air. You walk, and walk, and walk, but the forest seems endless, the towering conifers blanketing the land in all directions. You eventually happen upon a lake, with thick fog blanketing the calm surface, water shimmering from the sun shining down and light ripples from fish jumping to lap up low-flying bugs spanning across the lake's surface.

A rustle in the bushes catches your attention and you turn around. In the thicket, there are canid-like figures watching you from the fog, the shadows obscuring everything except the light reflecting off their eyes. After a tense silence, one wolf approaches you, emerging from the shadow blanket that previously covered them. They look you in the eye and speak to you in a friendly manner.

"Greetings, visitor. Welcome to the Alabaster Pack."

Welcome to the Alabaster Pack! Here you will find all that you need to know about the pack ran on my account.
The Alabaster Pack is a small little personal rp project i am doing, where all the wolves have a story, a personality, and a purpose. The pack has its own way to do things.

The pack currently resides in a mountainous area, though that is subject to change depending on the pack Alpha's decision. Rather than having a main den and dens dedicated to certain ranks, the den sites are known as "districts" and select members reside in these districts, being able to transfer between them whenever they want, similarly to how humans can move between different towns. There will eventually be four living districts, and there is one district acting as a quarantine area for sick wolves waiting to be tended to.

The pack's origins are relatively simple if the backstory of the first alpha isn't taken into account. To put it simply, one wolf wanted to make a pack, so he recruited a wolf and did just that. However, that's too basic. There was more more thought put into the formation of the pack.

The first Alpha of the pack was Alpha Chinook. Not much is known about him other than he was from outside of the lands. It is not known how he got into the lands or if he is even telling the truth about where he came from, it is speculated he arrived on an iceberg near the glacier and traveled down to the mountains, where he formed the pack with the help of another wolf. Alpha Chinook isn't a talker about his backstory.

The pack started small and simple, no rules were in place when it was very new. As time went on, Alpha Chinook started making ground rules for the pack to follow. One if which was breeding rules, the role system, and so on.

Since formation, the pack has flourished, with members having a stable relationship with one another for the most part. Separate districts have been formed for wolves to live in.

Like every pack, the Alabaster Pack has its own laws, customs, and ways of life.

Pack Laws
(Author's note 1: these pack laws are simply cosmetic and only for lore reasons, as well as the consequences for breaking a pack law.)

-  Respect the Alpha and his or her decisions
- The Beta takes over for the Alpha if the Alpha is absent from the territory.
- District Leaders have the right to relocate members to other districts if the members are overly aggressive to their district leader.
- Harming a pack member is a crime, and wolves who harm another member will be punished accordingly. Furthermore, killing a member is punishable by exile and killing an Alpha, Beta or Herbalist is punishable by death. (refer to author's note 1)
- There is no room for laziness. All wolves must have a task unless physically unable to do a task (Illness, physical disability, etc). Laziness is not an exile-able offense but wolves who are able to do tasks but don't have one will be continually pressured into picking a task until they pick one.
- Weaned pups, Elderly and other taskless wolves are to be fed first. Afterwards there is no eating order, however newcomers always eat last until they are welcomed into the pack fully, regardless if they pick a task immediately afterward or choose to wait.
- It is a pupsitter's priority to protect pups while their parents are busy. If pupsitters are found not making an effort to care for the pups under their care and a pup dies as a result, they may be exiled from the pack (refer to author's note 1)
- Unranked wolves and pupsitters with pups in their care cannot leave the territory without authorization. Pups cannot leave the territory at all. If an unranked wolf or pupsitter with pups in their care is caught outside of the territory unauthorized, they will face light punishment, but punishment will increase with each infraction. Pups will only receive discipline for learning reasons.
- Harassment to other wolves will not be tolerated. Wolves are allowed to be themselves as long as they do not harm another pack member.

Daily Routines
(Author's note 2: all of these routines are done within one rollover, but for lore reasons they happen every in-game day.)

- Feeding: Every morning, the pack gathers to eat before they tend to their tasks. Weaned pups and any wolf within the Elder role eat first, and unranked newcomer wolves eat last. Other than this set eating order, there is no order for wolves between these ranks. After feeding time, there is a small downtime period allowing wolves to get ready to head out to do their tasks
- Downtime: There are two downtimes per day - the shorter afternoon downtime and the overnight downtime. The overnight downtime lasts when all wolves return to the densites and sleep to after feeding time, and the afternoon downtime lasts 1-3 hours in the afternoon. Here wolves can rest and regain energy if needed or just chat with their friends before going out again. All wolves that have used all of their energy before downtime are allowed to take their own personal downtimes to rest as that heeds the best results. The only wolves exempt from the downtimes partially are the Pupsitters - they still must watch the pups but they are allowed to take naps if all the pups are napping too, which this can be at any time. (refer to author's note 2)
- Evaluation: any member not born into the pack that joins the pack undergoes an evaluation period - this is overseen by the Alpha and Beta and is to give newcomers a window to learn about the pack and its ways, and for the Alpha and Beta to learn the newcomer's personality. After Evaluation, the Alpha will chase off any newcomers that have showed bad intentions or offer the newcomer a place in the pack. Once offered, a newcomer can decline the offer and leave or accept the offer and join the pack. Newcomers don't have to take a task right away if they still can't decide what they want to be, but they will be subject to pressuring if they take a while to pick a task.

The Districts

The pack has five districts within its territory - Three are general residence districts, one is a medical district, and one is a district where mothers and pupsitters can safely care for the pups of the pack.

Lake District
The pack's first district, this densite is located by a shimmering lake. It is the largest district and is considered the hub of the pack. This is one of the three districts that contains a set leader.

Forest District
The pack's third district, it is nestled in a wooded area and is well hidden, perfect for wolves who like a little more privacy. A small creek runs nearby, providing a water source readily available for the wolves to drink from. This is one of the three districts that contains a set leader.

Meadow District
Located in a tranquil meadow, this district is for wolves who like to be out in the open. It is the pack's fourth district. This is one of the three districts that contains a set leader.

Ridge District
The pack's fifth district and serves as the hub for mothers and pupsitters. It is safely tucked away in the mountain range to deter predators, and the densites are winding cave systems to help keep pups safe. The main area of the district is considered safe enough for pups to play outside of. This district does not have a leader.

River District
The pack's second district, it is located by a river and is used solely for sick wolves. The herbalist resides here alone to work on herbs and help treat ill wolves.

Tasks
Each wolf has a task within the pack unless they have not picked one, are a pup or are elderly or physically unable to carry out tasks. The list of tasks are as follows:
(Author's note 3: some ranks are official wolvden ranks while others are cosmetic ranks)

Alpha
The leader of the pack. This wolf carries out the evaluation process, accepts new recruits and, if male, is the pack's sole breeding male. The Alpha is always succeeded by their youngest offspring.

Beta
Second-in-command, the beta helps the Alpha with decisions, acting as a second opinion. The beta takes on Alpha duties if the Alpha is away. The beta is a selected rank, meaning any wolf the Alpha selects becomes the beta, which could be a friend, mate or the Alpha's offspring.

Herbalist
The pack's healer, they gather herbs and help cure any wolves with illnesses. The herbalist is both a selected rank and a voluntary rank, where a wolf is selected by the Alpha and the selected wolf can choose to take on the role or decline, allowing another wolf to be selected as a herbalist instead.

Scout
These wolves scout out nearby territories for the Alpha. There are always two scouts at a time and it is a voluntary rank. Wolves are allowed to swap ranks if another wolf wants to be a scout and a scout is no longer interested in being one. The only limitation is that the Alpha must be notified before a task swap

Hunter
The food gatherers of the pack. This is an unlimited, voluntary role. Hunters go out on 5-wolf patrols to bring food home for the pack. They also teach pups how to hunt.

Pupsitter
These wolves watch the young pups in the pack for the first six months of their lives. Pupsitter is a voluntary rank and a very time consuming and difficult task as a pupsitter is responsible for protecting the pups under their care.

Border Guard (see author's note 3)
These wolves patrol the territory borders to keep dangerous intruders out. Entirely a voluntary rank.

District Guard (see author's note 3)
These wolves directly guard the district they are apart of, acting as warriors and first line of defense after the border guards are breached. This is a voluntary rank consisting of the pack's strongest wolves.
