Currently doing a special for 500-1000 words for only 2 gc/160 sc! If you're interested in that, check this link out!

The autumn leaves crunch beneath your weary paws as you travel through the Deciduous Forest, sunlight filtering through the orange and yellow leaves clinging to the branches above. The fall season is just at it's beginning, and with its start came the chilly bite of the fall breeze. You can feel it even with the new thickness of your winter coat, the gust that drifts past you sending a shiver down your spine.

This part of the forest is not very well-traveled. Rumors of specters and ghouls haunting the deeper parts of the woods kept most wolves at bay, but you had never been one to scare so easily. Besides, it's broad daylight. What is the worst that could happen?

You're not quite sure how long you have been walking, but you do know that you are quite tired. Your paws ache with every step you take, and eventually you know you will need to stop and rest. In the distance you can hear the sound of rushing water, the promise of a full belly of fish and a good nap sending a surge of excitement through you. You pick up your pace, hurrying to find the stream, only to come skidding to a stop once you are close.

In the distance, you can hear what sounds like a wolf talking to themself. You can't make any other voices out over what sounds like a waterfall crashing in the distance, but you can safely assume that they were not alone, as they seemed to be having a conversation. You don't even realize that you have started moving until you're hiding in the treeline, stalking forward carefully until you can peer around a tree and out into the clearing.

In the clearing sits a wolf, pelt as dark as the night sky, with markings of gray clouds breaking through. She appears to be rather enthralled by the story she is telling, and as you look closer, you can see that there is a group of wolves sitting before her, a mixture of pups, adolescents, and adults. They're watching her eagerly, clinging to every word.

You find yourself listening too as she continues to speak, ears perking up as you listen to her soothing voice. You're not quite sure what the story is about, something about the spirits of the woods, but you find that it doesn't matter much that you don't know the context. You're swept away by her tale, listening intently, and as her story draws near to its end, you can feel your heart pounding in your chest. As she finishes speaking, a howl breaks out among the group of wolves, and it takes everything in your power to keep from joining in.

Gradually, the crowd disperses, and you find yourself shrinking back into the forest to avoid being seen. Yet before you can walk away you notice that the wolf who had been speaking is staring directly at where you're hidden. A burst of panic fills your chest as she stands and begins to approach, and you're just about to run when she calls out to you.

"Wait!"

Despite every fur on your pelt prickling with alarm, you find yourself stopping for this mysterious she-wolf. You turn to find her closer now, a low growl of warning leaving you, yet quickly being cut off by the wolf's sweet laughter.

"Come now, don't be like that. I mean you no harm." She says, and you find her regular talking voice to be just as soothing as her story-telling one, her warm tone enough to let some of the tension you were holding melt away. "I just wanted to let you know that you don't have to hide. This territory is open to all- if you wish to come listen, you may. It is why I am here, after all."

You watch as she settles down to sit before you curiously, unsure of what to say. Eventually, you find your words, asking what she means.

"I am a storyteller. I am here to spread the stories of those who no longer have a voice. If you would like, I can tell you a few. You appear skittish and exhausted- perhaps some company would do you good."

You hesitate for a moment, unsure of whether or not you can trust this stranger, but the rumble of your stomach interrupts you before you can give it too much thought. Embarassment heats the back of your neck as the she-wolf laughs to herself, quickly adding on to her words.

"And some food. My pack's hunting season has been plentiful, we have enough to spare."

You contemplate for a moment before your hunger and exhaustion get the best of you, nodding your head in agreement. The she-wolf smiles at this, standing and beginning to walk, beckoning for you to follow. You do as indicated, falling into step beside her.

"Come along, now. I have some wonderful stories to tell."

Process

After our discussion of what you would like, I will begin to brainstorm a story idea or start to work on the idea you have presented me. I will write half of the commission before I ask you to send me half of the payment, and at any time you may ask me to make changes when I send a WIP. Once I am done, I will ask that you send the rest of the payment. After I am finished, you have the opportunity to ask for any last minute changes, before I finish the commission for good.
