Just as title says - tell me about sci-fi books you like! I already have a long list, but it's never enough for me;)

Right now I'm reading Revelation Space series by Alistair Reynolds, and I'm LOVING it! It has so many things I like in sci-fi: space travel (especially when it doesn't completely ignore the laws of relativity), mysterious extinct alien cultures, somewhat scientific explanations of what's going on, the list goes on. Special mention to a very interesting Fermi Paradox solution. All in all, I recommend it to everyone who is interested in science fiction!

Have you read Dune?

Yeah, but only the first book. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the movie to come out. I like how detailed and original the setting of Arrakis is. The Dune was actually one of the first books I tried to read in English and (partially) succeeded, so it holds a special place for me

Some of my favorites:

The Sholan Alliance (series) by Lisanne Norman
The Algebraist by Iain M. Banks
Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey (not really space sci-fi, but more fantasy with sci-fi elements)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head! I'll edit with more later! ^_^

Also...I see you are a Star Trek fan? I am too!

Thanks, I'll look into those!

I guess my username gives me away, right? Anyway it's nice to meet someone who likes the same things as I!

You're welcome! I'm going to look into what you're reading too. Always need more sci-fi books!

Yes your username and pack name! Lol! Do you have a favorite? I think The Next Generation and Deep Space 9 are my faves!

Choosing favourites is tough, but I'd probably go with TOS and DS9. TOS was the first Trek I watched and it got me really hooked, and I liked that ds9 was less utopic than earlier series.

Btw, what do you think about new shows? I really liked Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks!

I could never get into TOS. I just can't stand William Shatner for some reason. Lol!

I just finished SNW! I loved it! Totally ship Spock and Nurse Chapel. I haven't watched Lower Decks yet. Is that the animated one?

One of the things I love about SNW is how they took existing characters and gave them some development they didn't have before. And I like how Spock/Chapel plot explains some of their behaviour in TOS

Yes, LD is the animated one and it's great. I actually almost dropped it after a few episodes because they were too chaotic, but after that the show seemed to figure out itself and I started to really enjoy it

Yes, I agree! And kind of different storylines than other Star Trek series/timelines! But man...I can't wait for season 3. I need to know more!

Maybe I'll try watching LD! I need something new to watch anyway!
