Remove Pair Bond Breeding Limits!!

Remove Pair Bond Breeding Limits!!
Posted 2023-12-24 18:31:38 (edited)
I understand the motive behind this mechanic, but it affects the gameplay and what's the point of pair bonds if we can hardly ever breed?

If you think otherwise, please tell me why :)ย  I love to hear from people!!

PS I AM NOT ASKING PAIRBONDS TO BE REMOVED JUST THIS MECHANIC REVISED

I think pairbonds are good. Even if we can't breed them together all that much - which I feel we can - we can mate wolves together even if just for lore purposes.

Im sorry for not clarifying. I just want the one mechanic of 4 breedings a month removed or raised I love pairbonds personally

Although I love pair bonds and it's a fun aspect of the game. I definitely think the number of breedings should be raised.

I don't have a problem with it and think we are lucky to have the ability atall. Can you imagine if every wolf could breed like studs?! The state of the market and the enclave as a result of that would be crazy. Peoples dens would be a mad swamp of pups. What limitation do you want removed? The frequency of heats, the amount of females to a male? The 30 day pairbond cooldown? LMK!

No- i just want the limit of monthly breedings added to. Or removed.ย  You can only breed wolves in a pair bond 4 times a month. I have like 9 pairbonds so this won't do. I've been missing heats. I like the pup cooldown and I respect the pair bond cool down.

Let's say I had a wolf named bob and he was mated to sally. I could breed bob and sally and when sally was pregnant my county would go from 1/4 breedings and could only breed three other different wolves to their respective mates. After that we can't breed let's say what if Jill was in heat I'd either have to wait or the limit would have to be removed or added to.ย  For example

Bob + Sally (heat)
Jill + Joe (heat)
Michael + Lilly (heat)
Jordan + jellybean (heat)
Jillian + Micah (heat)
I could only breedย  bob and sally, Jill and joe, Michael and lilly, and Jordan and jellybean. I wouldn't be able to breed Jillian and Micah.

Ps these are just goofy names I came up with

WHAT

I actually didn't know there was a 4 pairbond limit to breeding! I knew of the forming limit. I understand your frustration!

Hi! Just wanted to note that your pair-bond breeding slots increases as your territory does. So it's not hard locked at 4 slots, but I understand the frustration! There is no limit to how many pair-bonds you can create, however.

TL;DR for below; it's not about limiting how many pups are in the game, but about limiting males in what they can do for the gene pool. Removing the limit does not mean more pups will be produced, just more preferred choices when choosing mates. Pair-bonding is a great yet harsh mechanic from this limit, the mood loss on broken bond, the month-long cooldown following it, and pair-bonds can not be formed for your wolves that haven't been in the pack for at least 7 rollovers.
I wouldn't mind the limit staying as is, but I don't think removing it would harshly impact anything. Studs will still be widely used, or not if they aren't desired. People will overbreed, so there's no point in the limit to keep people from doing that with pack member males, if that's a concern. Keep in mind the Leaderboard for the highest pup producers; this LB alone encourages mass-breeding among other reasons a player may want to do so.
The limit being uplifted will, in my opinion, greatly improve the experience for many players, most of all for those whom want to breed their wolves only from other members of their pack. A solo experience shouldn't be punished by game mechanics. With the other penalties to pair-bonding, and considering the breeding cooldown when a heat is used, the limit is overkill.
-------------------------
I have 150 territory slots, which only gives me 17 pair-bond breeds a month, more than I use anyhow, but that's my playing experience. Personally, I don't mind pair-bonding as is with the limit per month for breeding, for it makes it so people have to be more "responsible" with the limit in mind, I suppose. As well, it keeps the stud market flowing, though I'm sure it'll flow limit or no limit. I find that I often do use outside studs despite having plenty breed slots to use when I don't want to use my own wolves, no different for others whom are searching for something (such as a high stat wolf) to breed a female to that they may not have, or simply wish to introduce fresh blood in their pack. That being said, I am not against the limit being outright removed, considering that a wolf can only be in one pair-bond at a time and upon breaking, can not join another for a whole month worth of rolling over (or 24 days if the wolf has that one personality trait I can not recall at this time). The female is fine to breed to whoever, so the real penalty is on the male wolf 100% of the time, and sometimes the female if you wanted to pair-bond her to another wolf ASAP. In case of pair-bonds, it has ALWAYS been about limiting what males can breed and how many times they can do so, not about limiting how many pups can be produced.

I am grateful that pair-bonding has been introduced, as originally, we were meant to have only our breeding male and that's it, he is the only male in the whole pack that can breed with your females along with having the option to spend a little currency to breed her to an outside stud.
I wouldn't breed a female every heat she has unless I have good reason to other than just spending that heat for pups that'll likely be foddered anyhow.
As for the "there will be more pups" argument, all a lack of breeding limitation would do is give more freedom when choosing who you want your wolves to breed with and when, as people can just choose to use their own or outside stud instead of that pair-bonded male.
