Realism Pack?

Realism Pack?
Posted 2020-09-27 16:19:55

I kind of want to try playing as a "realistic" pack. In nature, wolf packs are lead by a dominate mated pair with most of the other members are extended family (parents, aunts/uncles/siblings/children) and sometimes a few dispersal wolves from other packs. Only the lead pair produce pups and the pack raises and teaches them collectively.Β

I understand that this could be very difficult given Wolvden's mechanics and I'd like some suggestions on how to best go about this. Thanks!

Not sure if bumping like this is allowed but I'm gonna do it until I hear otherwise.

Well, I would say have nbw until your main breeding pairs pups grow up. Then replace the nbws with the grown pups. Then you have the pack you desire.

I guess so but I also kind of want some nicer wolves? I guess I could breed unrelated females to outside males but that could get pricey. I'm just not sure.

I’m struggling a lot with figuring out how to do a realistic pack too. I’m frustrated that my breeding male will probably have to breed with other females but there’s really no other way to progress. I just keep reminding myself that the Druid Peak pack in Yellowstone once had a male wolf who had three mates and split his time between them lol.

i think the best way to go about that would be to either customize two wolves who would become your breeding pair, or buy them. that'd definitely need some time first to acquire enough cones first though, but then again, i don't see how else you could do this unless you'd be fine with "potato" wolves! (we are still so early in the game, it feels cruel to call them that, but you know what i mean lol)

i'll be trying something similar myself, i just won't limit myself to only breeding two wolves out of my entire pack. it's a nice idea and i admire you for going for it, i just wouldn't be able to do that- i'll be allowing myself to breed random females to studs later down the line. for now, i'm just hunting and getting money to be able to customize! we can get there!

I've already customized my lead wolves so I'm good on that front. What I think I might do is split my wolves into three groups: The main pack, dispersal (unrelated) wolves, and "travelers" i.e. NBWs. My lead pair will be the only ones who breed consistently and produce the most pups. The dispersal wolves will be my money makers; high quality wolves that will breed only a couple of times in their lives to outside males to make pups I can sell. The travelers will be NBWs that will come and go to fill rolls as needed.Β

This is the best idea I've had so far and I don't really see another way to do this without severely limiting myself.

I was intending to do this but I've had to get a lot of NBWs to get through the tutorials, make a whole hunting team, etc. I think I'm just going to replace the NBWs as my puppies grow up. I'm only intending to breed my main couple for puppies to keep and when I can eventually afford it I'll add markings or customise them.
