Hello all, Kno here!
32, they/them, located EST for general info~

I've been itching to find an RP partner for a while now, and since I've risen from the grave here I figured it's a good place to start looking!

I consider myself fairly advanced-literate and hope for the same in return; my replies are usually around 1k words, though of course it depends on what's happening.  I really can't do one-liners. However—that is with the caveat that I like to use multiple characters, as world building is a big must!  I know walls of text are really only fun as RP replies, so I'll list out some general stuff in bullets. I'll also toss my most recent opening post in a spoiler as an example to give you an idea of how I write :3c

About Me:
🟣 I really only want to use Discord, as it feels nicest and easiest for me to post and organize ideas!
🟣 I work a full time job that often requires OT, too, so admittedly I'm looking for something slower paced. I'm likely only going to be looking for one RP partner at the moment tops because of this, as I don't want to overwhelm myself and make anyone suffer because of it.
🟣 That said, I still love plotting and chatting OOC and can do that a lot.  I think it's fun making a good little server for organizing and, like I said before, world building 🤩
🟣 Along with the plotting and stuff OOC, I do like to be friends with my RP partners too! That helps with a lot of my anxiety in general, so I'm sorry if that turns you away!
🟣 I've been RPing off and on for over two decades, but not as consistently as I'd like.
🟣 I draw sometimes too, albeit very slowly, and I'm not as good at more humanoid characters. Just thought that might be a selling point 🤣
🟣 I do not use any face claims for any of my OCs, and would really rather prefer an RP partner also not. I'm A-OK with good fleshed out descriptions over using unrelated character art, if needed!
🟣 On the topic of OCs, all of mine can be found on my Toyhou.se, here (link leads off-site!) Pretty much any of them can be melded for nearly any setting, although the ones in "world building" or "sonas" are going to have the most pre-established lore.  Well, and the D&D ones, if any of those catch someone's fancy, with the warning I have only played homebrew campaigns and know no canon. (Except for maybe some bits now from BG3)
🟣 I have four goblin kitties and will always gladly pay the cat tax upon request 😎

What I'm Looking For:
🟢 Modern Fantasy
🟢 Fantasy Sci-fi
🟢 Fandom adjacent
--- Persona, Pokémon, Digimon, TMA, maybe Promare, to name some thoughts! I'd be open to others too as long as I know them~
--- However, I don't usually like doing canon characters; not to say my arm can't be twisted with really good ideas!
🟢 Werewolves are always a big plus (I know, shocking)
🟢 Angels & Demons are always a fun go-to
🟢 Angst is fun and important for plot movement, but I'm a sucker for fluff. The world is sad enough, I want some overall ~happy vibes~
🟢 The more queer the better, I don't think I have a single cishet character
🟢 Of course, not to say I'm looking for pure romance plots or anything like that. I just like focusing on the general positive overall, overcoming the bad. Gimme those feel good found family stories.
🟢 Maybe medieval fantasy, but not sure if that's the itch I have now 🤔

What I'm Not Great At:
🟠 Playing evil characters. I have some grumps or less-good characters, but being mean even in fiction gives me a stomachache (along with making decisions; I may as well be an off-brand Chidi Anagonye)
🟠 Pulling myself out of a rut.  I've been improving greatly over the years, but if my brain feels like I took "too long" to reply, it can sometimes set me in a spiral of being afraid to reply because of how long it took which can make me afraid to reply because–yea you get the point.  All this means is I ask for a tinge of patience; as long as we keep the ideas flowing and communication good, it's much easier for me to kick my brain into gear!

Please Do Not:
🔴 Be under 20.  Sorry, but me being a whole-ass adult makes me really uncomfortable RPing with anyone too far out of my age group. I'd honestly prefer someone as close to my age range as possible.
🔴 Control my characters. I don't think this usually needs to be said, but just in case, better safe than sorry. Of course this doesn't mean a careful general assumption of "oh they're continuing walking together" etc to keep plot flowing can't happen, as long as it's nothing attempting to outright say my characters are doing something
🔴 Are passwords still something people do to make sure people actually read all this? I saw one in another thread I think, is that what the Cool Kids™ are doing? In that case, please toss a star emoji of you choosing (asterisk works too) in your reply or DM to me~
🔴 I won't do any… overly off putting topics. Like I said, angst is fine, but we do not need overt trauma and nastiness just as a plot tool; to me that just feels gross and lazy. (If you're familiar with the author Jonathan Sims, he's a perfect example of being able to write amazing dreadful stories without having to use overt trauma and nasty topics as a crutch 💜)
So, this was an opener I did for an RP partner that fell through, so I figured it was a good recent example to show!  (Which on that note, I doubt anyone would be gung-ho on wanting to use an opener/plot that I was going to use for a different story, but if it intrigues anyone I'd be glad to use this universe/idea 👀)

=======/////=======/////=======/////=======

It had only been one week since the departure of the RS Nostradamus, and Jackalyn Carmody was frankly already fed up.  It was cramped, frivolous without cause, and the Big Boss never stepped foot outside of his quarters, choosing instead to heavily micromanage from email through his lackeys.  It was the end of another exhausting day of barely being able to do their real work, and Jac was currently laying face down on the cot of their small quarters, red hair messily covering the pillow and obscuring any bit of their face.  At the small table set sat a lanky, mousey looking boy with long dark hair pulled back into a loose short ponytail, scribbling absently on an already filled notebook in front of him and completely ignoring the room's inhabitant's nightly mental breakdown.

Still, the scientist knew they shouldn't be a beggy chooser.  The frustrating corporate nature of the ship made it far easier to forge records to allow them aboard than a government exploration ship, allowing them to work to begin with.

The Extinction didn't only affect humans, of course.  The previously clandestine species living in the shadows among humans were quickly brought to light after the relocation, causing an initial uproar.  It took time for most to separate themselves from the humans, while those who remained either chose to exist under extreme restrictions imposed, or be forced to find illicit methods to hide one's identity.

Jac fell under the latter.

They hadn't been a werewolf from birth, which made hiding their records that much easier; admittedly however, if it wasn't for Casey they wouldn't've had a chance.  Jac knew what would need to be modified to help them keep clandestine, but their knowledge was with chemicals, not with technology.  Thankfully, that was where the mousy little nerd sitting at their table and sipping from a blood-bag like a capri sun came into play.  The two had met while Jac was still in college, not long after they had turned.  The vampire had been self-proclaimed "turned at the start of the technological era", and as a result could run his way around programming like it was nothing more than children's legos.  Just don't ask him to socialize well with others or figure out basic arithmetic, and he's an extremely valuable asset.

Between the werewolf's know-how with the biochemistry aspect and Casey's way around making technology work in his favor, the two had little problem sneaking their way into employment on the RS Nostradomus.  It wasn't for any nefarious purposes, by any means; simply the desire to learn without fear of persecution for their non-human status.  Well.  That was the case for Jac; Casey was simply bored and happy to tag along with his friend for a change of pace.

A better look at the scrawny vampire would show a simple beige sweater vest crumpled at his feet, remnants of his "office" garb immediately discarded.  He now wore just the long-sleeved graphic shirt that was previously beneath it, the design depicting video game characters engaged in combat.  Black-painted nails crinkled into the blood-bag as he finished it, green eyes with makeup painted eye-bags peering through the large circle-frame glasses on the bridge of his nose at the scrawling notebook on the table.  He had two silver studs in each of his ears and rings on most of his fingers, the epitome of "weird programmer goth" if anyone saw one… a few hundred years ago.  Fashion had changed over the years since The Extinction, of course, although many did find some comfort in wearing similar styles to the early generations.  In Casey's case, it was just the style that felt the most comfortable through his centuries, and he'd stuck with variations thereof since.

His scribbling had paused as he tossed the bag on the table, brow furrowing as he pursed his lips.  He began to tap his pen slowly as he thought to himself, the pace increasing as time passed without the thought seeming to come.  On the cot, Jac's hands clenched at their sides more and more as the tapping quickened.  When it showed no signs of ending, their annoyance finally came to a head via a pillow hurled directly at his head with far more power than a pillow thrown should have managed.  Had he been paying a lick of attention he would have easily been able to mitigate the fluffy projectile, but as it was, it landed smack into the side of his face and pushed him into the wall.

"For the love of all that is holy, Case, do you need to do that in my quarters?  Y'know I never mind brainstorming with you, but that normally involves helping bounce ideas or something.  Not just you sitting over there drinking like a mope and tapping on end.  What has you in such a funk?  Is Big Man breathing down the tech department's neck as bad as Bio?"

With the pillow no longer in the picture, the redhead's grumpy face was fully visible.  Eyebrows knit tight together over brown eyes, freckles scattered across their face and up their ears.  They had obviously flopped immediately down onto the cot upon entering their quarters, as their long white lab coat was just barely opened revealing the tanktop and jeans beneath it.

Casey blinked over at Jac, scowling as he scrambled back into the chair and tossed the pillow back to his friend nearly as fast as they had thrown it at him. They caught it midair and tossed it to the bed next to them.  "Oy, warn me next time at least before you try to take my head off," he grumbled, slapping the pen onto the notepad before scratching the back of his neck in frustration.  "No… Well, yes, always, but that's not what's got me scrambled right now.  It's these figures I stumbled across while I was making the usual adjustments."

Jac had gotten up to the small sink, lab coat now tossed to the bed as they began to remove the brown contacts from their eyes to reveal their usually normal blue-gray beneath.  Pausing with one just barely out of their eye, they turned to Casey in concern.  "Anything wrong with the files?"

Casey shook his head, taking his glasses off to set them on the table as he pinched the bridge of his nose.  "No, it wasn't anything with the edits.  I was just being nosey and wanted to see what I could learn about the dude's 'super fancy magic warp system'.  From what I had been able to see from the available open source it seemed pretty basic, so I wanted to find out what actually made it tick."  He paused, flipping back a page and tapping momentarily on a bit of the pen-filled page.  "But this part here just doesn't seem to click.  Like.  From the surface, sure, I guess it could.  It would be unlikely though, and when combined to this tiny bit here," he taps another section after flipping to a different page, "it kind of… negates that part anyway."  He flips back and forth between these pages for a few moments, grumbling to himself each time.

He finally groans loudly and leans back, shuffling up his own hair and causing the hair tie that had been holding on for dear life to go flying.  Jac catches it and slides it onto their wrist, sitting back down on the cot.  "None of this sounds particularly… good.  Is this thing safe to keep warping?  Shit, that's like, Pre-Extinction tech.  How does someone even fuck that up?"

Casey shakes his head, reaching a hand out pathetically to request the hair tie back, to which Jac tosses it over.  "No clue," he sighs, loosely pulling his hair back up.  "I'm hoping I can poke around more to try to figure it out, it may just be something new that I hadn't gotten a chance to untangle yet.  I know we've got a warp scheduled at twenty two hundred hours, which is in…" glancing at his watch, he cringed slightly, "about a minute. We've warped twice already, right? It's probably fine to keep going and I can learn whatever makes it connect as we carry on."

Jac leaned back slightly as their frown deepened, instinctively grabbing onto the railing of their cot in concern. "If you say so… you're the computer brains after all."

Not seconds after that left their mouth, a chipper computer voice rang across the entirety of the ship.

**[Research Ship Nostradamus preparing sector warp in… Five… Four… Three… Ţ̴̛̱͎̈́͊̓̏͛͋̆͗̊͠ͅ-w̵̡̢̬̹̝͈͙̝̻͛͊̎o̷͔̖̟̙͔̜̟͚̱̺̥͙̘̒̋͛̓̅͋̿̓̏͌͝͝ͅ…

Ǫ̷͎̠̩̑͑̏̂͠n̴̢̻̻̟̣̖̳͔̆͛̉̃̔̊̓͛̒̈́̓͘͜͜͝͝…ḛ̷̛͉̱̻͙̦̙̱̗̬̫̱̚

………]**

In place of the end of the countdown was a discordant jumbled sound of tones, giving way to the sound of alarms as the ship began the warp.

Hmmm, I feel like that's it!! Feel free to comment or DM with questions if you're interested and we can go from there. I don't have any set ideas at the moment unless anyone was interested in the sloppy seconds of that Intro post, because I do have ideas for that, so if you have something in line with anything else I've said I'm all ears! 😊

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this if you're still here!!
I'm excited to hear from you (* ̄∇ ̄)ノ

Hello, if you're still looking, id love to plot something out with you! I prefer to use discord, as well, as im not too active here. I'm very interested in either something like your starter test post, a pokemon rp, or a variation of both.
