Any SCP readers?

Any SCP readers?

Hi! I was just wondering if there are some who read SCPs from the SCP wiki.

I just wanted a thread to share our favourite SCPs, perhaps discuss them and things like that.

If anyone doesn’t know what SCP is, here’s my (perhaps not the best) explanation:

It’s a website from a foundation (SCP Foundation) that stands for Secure, Contain, Protect. So they locate, capture, and then contain SCPs that are abnormal, and don’t follow natural laws. So the main thing to do is basically just open the scp-wiki, and choose an SCP and start reading! There’s a bit more stuff to it, but this is the main thing. You can also write SCPs, but they have to be high quality and be an original idea. The community then rates it and chooses if it’s good enough. The SCPs are also arranged in Series, so Series I is the first one, Series VI is the one the community is writing right now. So when all numbers from Series VI is taken (5000-5999), Series VII will start being written. The numbers are basically which SCP it is. So an SCP from Series I are SCP-001 to SCP-999. Perhaps the most famous SCP is SCP-173, and is also the first one written.

Anyway, what are your favourite SCPs? What caused you to find out about the scp-wiki, etc.

I first got into reading SCPs when I saw SCP: Containment Breach, which is a game. I played it and thought it was really fun and interesting so I searched SCPs up and started reading the top rated. Now I mostly click random SCP or just choose a random one in a series. Sometimes reread for fun. I haven’t started reading any Tales though, but I have been thinking about it.

It’s really difficult to choose only one SCP that I like the most. I love SCP-999 just because it’s so nice. I love the idea of it just roaming the facility, being happy, and making people happy. It’s not that well written compared to other SCPs, but the idea itself is really nice.

I don't read them all that much. But I do enjoy listening to TheVolgun on youtube and their videos on the SCPs.

But I'd have to say my favorite is SCP-963. And thus Dr. Bright. It's an interesting concept, immortality, and the way Dr. Bright is through different scenarios is entertaining.

I got into it because my spouse likes them and if I remember right I think they found out about it through one of their friends. So a lot of word of mouth.

TheVolgun is a great channel! I watch some videos every now and then. I read that he made audio for some SCPs in Containment Breach, which is really cool. Perhaps he did audio for some articles too, but I can’t remember if he did or not.

Also, SCP-963 is really interesting! I also like how he’s still working with the foundation, even if it’s not in his own body. I haven’t really read anything else on SCP-963 or Dr. Bright other than what it says in the article. Maybe I’ll have to read more about that

And I think most people find out about it through other people. I know that me and my friends introduced other friends to it. But it’s not often it’s in a conversation, so I haven’t really had the chance to talk to other people about SCPs.

My favorite is the Antimemetics Division! I read non-SCP scifi by the same writer (qntm.org I forget his name) so I found out through that.

Aah, I haven’t read any of them except SCP-055. After reading your comment though I checked it out and read ”We Need To Talk About Fifty-Five” and judging from those two writings, those pages and tales seem really interesting! I’ve heard of antimematics somewhere, but always forgot about them and only read 055 for some reason. But I’ll definitely read that division soon, that tale was bloody awesome.

Oh, and sorry for a late answer. I haven’t had the time to log in.

My cousin introduced me to SCP, and I kinda like how the site is set up to look much more like a database than a fanfiction website.  I havent read too many, but I hope I can find some that really freak me out.  I'm always in the mood for scary stuff.  :3.

One of my reactions when I read my first SCP was that I thought it was so cool how it was like I was actually reading a document, I was kinda amazed.

There’s a few SCPs that are creepy in nature and stuff. It depends on what you find scary, but I think SCP-001, When Day Breaks was at least a bit tense to read.

I searched up what other people thought were creepy and stuff, and found SCP-2718. I didn’t read all of it since I’m a bit tired right now, but the beginning was really interesting and I think I can see why people find it freaky.

I also found SCP-1981 which I had completely forgotten about, that one is also great. I find it a bit creepy, just imagining watching that tape. SCP-1562 is really great too. People found it creepy. Could be scary if someone has claustrophobia. If one is scared of the dark, SCP-072 and -280 are good. I prefer 072 though.

SCP-1875 actually scared me heh, I had completely forgotten about it.

Anyway, hopefully one of those are creepy c:

I'll check those out! The one my cousin showed me was Shy guy, and I really like it when the files have freaky pictures to go with it.

Maybe that's one reason why I like creepypasta too (not Jeff the killer though.  That one I cant stand to look at for too long).

Yeah, I love SCPs that have pictures or audio to go along with it, it’s cool. One of the reasons I love SCP-049.

You reminded me, there’s a short film on youtube about Incident 096-1-A which was pretty well made. If someone likes the Shy Guy.

Anyway, creepypastas are cool too, although I don’t read/listen to them quite as often now. If there’s one picture I don’t want to look at too long it’s the Russian Sleep Experiment one. I love the story, but that picture is just unsettling.

Funny you mention that particular creepypasta.  I did some research on the image they used for sleep experiment and it turns out it's just a photoshopped image of a real halloween prop.  The prop is called 'spazm', and it's a foam and latex motion sensor prop that vibrates and growls.

The people who made the image just put a black and white filter over it.  In the image you can see the speaker holes on the bottom of the prop's leg.  XD
