'All wolves have a pull to the moon, this we know; however the Máni Vargr Clan seems to have a unique bond with the lunar orb. Máni was told various differing stories as a pup, but all she could conclude was that her and Sköll's pack ancestors had long ago descended from the Dreamlands, and carry dormant remnants of the essence of that realm (with the exception of Máni and some of her descendants, who are known as Vargr).

Máni and Sköll hail from an unnamed nomadic pack, and though they come from a long line of wanderers, the pair hope for a place to one day call home.'
Year 1
'Máni looks at the rocky summits, and the sea of evergreen trees around them, breathing in the fresh mountain air. "It's perfect!" She barked excitedly to Sköll, and Tala "Perhaps we can finally call somewhere home..." She trailed off into wistful thought.''The frigid, vast taiga lay before Máni and her clan, beckoning them. Skaði nuzzles into Máni, her mother's pelt. The young pup let out a soft whine "I want to go home." Máni looked down at her pup mournfully, nuzzling her back "This is our home, for now...". The Máni Vargr wolves collectively brace themselves, before moving onward into the dense boreal forest.''In the Taiga it was after dusk, most wolves sleeping soundly in their respective dens, caves, burrows... It was a quiet night, almost too quiet. Recently the seasons changed to summer, and the lack of chorusing crickets had the Queen on edge, she was unable to sleep. Then, the silence broke, wolves howled and yipped. Máni heard strangers amongst them, her clan crying out in alarm. Sköll didn't need to be woken, as he was already bounding from their grotto, the Queen close at his flank.

Outside the dens, it was chaos. The pupsitters were huddled around the young pups, ferociously protecting the clan's young. Hunters and adolescents were fighing the enemy, whom Máni quickly recognized. Reginúlfr, the traitorous advisor to the late King of the nomadic pack, and his followers, the wolves who stayed after he murdered the King in his sleep. A fierce growl erupted from her throat, and she lunged at Reginúlfr, jaws snapping. With Sköll flanking her right, she got some deep bites into their foe's hide. However, before they could corner him, the traitor realized they were losing.

The other clan wolves had managed to chase off, kill, or otherwise push back the other nomad wolves, and with Reginúlfr's howl of retreat, the rest scurried off into the night. "You can't run forever!" he jeered, "We'll always be following..." and for now, they were gone, the battle was won. Thankfully the Máni Vargr Clan had taken no casualities, but their spirits were broken, for they could not stay in the lands they'd grown to love.'
Year 2
'Dawn broke, sun creeping into the corners of the world. It was weeks after the attack, and the pack was on the move. Nursing mothers carried their pups in makeshift fur wraps, as Máni had learned this from her old clan. The wolves were at great risk in such numbers, with young, and no home, but thankfully their journey was calm, albeit long and tiring. The worst struggles were finding enough to eat.

The temperatures got colder further north, and many of the wolves were not equipped for it, but thankfully fate was on their side, as it was still summer. As the sun's rays reached out, they began to see the lands before them more clearly. Devoid of the flora and fauna they were used to, but still a balanced ecosystem of it's own, the Tundra loomed before them, spanning further than they could see. For now, they would seek refuge here. Máni and Sköll intended for their next encounter with the traitors of their birth clan to be the last. The clan would grow strong here, they hoped.'
'It had been a grueling, frigid winter in the Tundra, and they had to search farther and farther for food, as they weren't equipped for these lands. No wolf went hungry, but it wasn't an easy task for the hunters to keep the clan fed. Máni worried for the future of her pups, grown and young, and her clan members. She's been constantly on edge since the night of the attack, and sleep was becoming elusive for her. However, her pack was growing, despite their hardships.

After winter finally broke in the Tundra, it was grudgingly decided they make their way back to the Taiga. Máni didn't want to risk another winter in these harsh lands, and Sköll reassured her that their numbers were enough to fend off Reginúlfr and his traitors. However she knew their leader was cunning, and surely had been plotting the entirety of the winter, whilst licking their wounds. She would remain ever on edge, until the clan was safe, and they were home.'
Year 3
The Máni Vargr wolves had spent the spring and summer training, extensively. They wanted to be well prepared for their foe's eventual appearance. No sign of them yet, but the clan's most adept scouts patrolled the borders, dawn to dusk. If Reginúlfr and his crones started sniffing around, the clan would know.

One crisp, dry fall day, when Máni and Sköll were tussling with their current pups, something unexpected occured. All of a sudden Máni's laughter, mixed with the static from her and Sköll's tussling, created a flashbang of crackling essence. Nobody was harmed fortunately, just some singed fur.

It appeared, perhaps this dormant energy lingering in the King's and Queen's bloodline, wasn't so dormant after all. Could Máni safely learn to harness this newfound power, and channel it from her mate? Perhaps this was the edge they needed against Reginúlfr and the nomads.
