Biography
"...Cycle?"
He jumped and whipped around, tail up straight, teeth bared more because of fear than anger. No one else should know this spot.
"Hey! Take it easy!" a familiar voice yelped, "It's just me."
Her voice seemed to mix into the sounds of the rushing river perfectly, blending into the smoothness of the icy water with ease. She came and sat down next to him, and he relaxed a little and shook his head, embarrassed.
"Uhm, yes. Hi again Sulphur." He pawed the ground nervously, silently cursing himself for what he had done. "Wh-What brings you around here?"
She laughed nervously, causing Cycle to blush. "I was tracking a rabbit and I seemed to kind of... er... get off track a little bit." She smiled gently, turning to face him again. "What are you doing here?"
He smiled. "This is my grove, where I come to relax. Being pack leader doesn't give me a lot of downtime, so whenever I can, I come down here to chill out. Take a break from the stress, y'know?"
She nodded. "So many pretty gems... It's quite dark, though."
He grinned.
"Just watch."
He walked over to a particularly large quartz formation and pulled one of the crystals down. A gentle clinking of crystals could be heard, and slowly but surely, the room became alive with gemstone light.
The grove's ceiling became awash with purples and blues and pinks and so many others, all mixing in with each other to create what seemed to be a sea of crystal light shows.
Sulphur gasped. "Oh my goodness... Cycle, this is fantastic. I..." She stopped and walked over to him. "I can't find the words. How did you make this?"
Cycle blushed and inched closer. "A magician never reveals his secrets."
After a moment, she tentatively put her paw on his, causing them both to go red.
Cycle looked over at her. "Sulphur, I..-"
Before he could finish, she leant over and kissed him.
At first his eyes went wide, but then he closed them, never feeling happier. Finally, after all these years of stalling and chickening out.. he had done it.
After a while, the two broke apart, simply nuzzling each other and blushing.
"I love you too, Cycle."
They ended up falling asleep in each other's paws, having the sweetest of dreams, bathing under the soft crystal light.
