Once upon a time, thirteen friends happened upon a wolf, borne from the misty mountains themselves, Indlvarn West. On the surface, Indlvarn stayed unchangeable, untouched by time. Only seeing what they wished, the thirteen turned on Indlvarn to force her to divulge her secret of immortality. Indlvarn dodged their wiles for a time, until a false friend reared her head--Sof Vostark. Long ago, Sof acquired a promise from Indlvarn, a promise to grant Sof anything within her power to grant. Sof, realizing that the thirteen would fail and die before becoming immortal, invoked her wish. 

Indlvarn, a wolf of her word, agreed to share her gifts. But she would not do so willingly, or easily, and put forth a gauntlet of challenges the thirteen would have to face. Only the victors could hear her secrets.
