can you trade non-immortal lethal mutation pups?

maybe a dumb question, but i was wondering if i'd be able to gift a polymelia pup to my s/o if it isn't already immortal? they have a jelly and open immortal slot, so they're able to immortalize it, but i can't seem to add the mother to a gift or trade for them? is it because it needs to be immortalized first, or something about the mother, or something else idk about? ;-;

i removed all of the mother's pups from pupsitters, but there's still no luck. she isn't secured either :c

update, i figured it out! i forgot she was in a pair bond 3
