Hi everyone!

I'm curious to hear what books or series' about or featuring wolves that you enjoy! I need to pick up some more!

I've heard The Sight is good, but I've never read it myself - I did read Firebringer, which does feature wolves a little!

I'm a big ASOIAF fan, and everyone here who has watched Game of Thrones will know why - the direwolves are great.

The Sight is fantastic. I read it years ago now but it was a wonderful book. Its sequel was quite good too. I'm not sure if there are more books along with those two since its been a good long time since I picked either up.

I also personally love classics like White Fang and Call of the Wild. (Though that could be argued as more of a dog book than wolves)

Jack London for sure! White Fang and Call of the Wild are stellar books.

I read Julie and the Wolves + Julie's Wolves as a child and it didn't make much sense, but as an adult (and a Biology major to boot) they're great books! There are some chapters in the POV of the wolves in the pack, but they're not sentient creatures like the cat in Warriors.

Wolves of the Beyond was alright, but I dropped it after 2-3 books.

If you like Call of the Wild or White Fang then I'd recommend Eyes of Gray Wolf!

The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver includes a wolf as a companion to the main character, they wind up bonding as brothers and the series is a historical (ice age) fantasy that has an immersive world.

I read basically anything with wolves (among other animals, of course) I could get a hold of as a kid. Some of the names in my pack probably indicate lots of The Sight love over here without me needing to confirm that I've read it.

I'd say Runt by Marion Dane Bauer was probably the first wolf book I picked up as a kid. It was all downhill from there. I picked up pretty much every book my elementary or middle school library had with wolves in it. (I also liked reading nonfiction books about animals and hoarded the dog breed books especially, lol.) The Julie of the Wolves series, Call of the Wild, White Fang, Wolf At the Door by Barbara Carcoran, and Malu's Wolf by Ruth Craig all passed my desk at some point. Malu's Wolf is where I lifted the name of my main OC from, Kono.

I read The Sight and Fell a little later on. I have a couple other David Clement-Davies books in my room (including Firebringer) that I haven't gotten around to reading yet. I read the first two books of The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness; I really should finish that at some point. My tastes are a little broader now, thankfully... but it was a very animal book filled childhood. LOL.

I remember that I absolutely loved the Promise of the Wolves / Wolf Chronicles trilogy by Dorothy Hearst when I was a kid. I'd say it still holds up, even if I didn't like the ending of the final book. The story's premise fascinated me, though! It still does, I'll probably be rereading it again soon haha

The series was more or less about wolves and humans, and the consequences of them trying to get along. It's set thousands of years ago, and the packs kind of gave me a Warriors/Wolves of the Beyond type of vibe. So I'd definitely recommend if you enjoy that sort of thing!

From the sounds of it, I'm definitely into that sort of thing. Sign my big gay wolfaboo butt up. XD

I love Call of the Wild, but if you want a more fantastical setting you should try Kathryn Lasky's books. She wrote for children so they are easy to get into and pick up, Guardians of Gahoole (the owl book) dabbles mentions on the Wolves but she goes beyond with "Wolves of the Beyond!"

guardians of ga'hoole had some rad wolves, and i remember being so shook as a kid that the wolf said a bad word. honestly, those books were so intense for little me! but yeah, i too often think about the guardians of ga'hoole wolves
