CROSSROADS: Token positions

CROSSROADS: Token positions
Posted 2022-11-10 04:25:44 (edited)

EDIT (28.07.2023): I've decided to re-visit this topic with an intention to update my ideas and re-write some of the explanations to make them more understandable.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hello everyone! I've recently been taking a look at the Crossroads and realised the token position is slightly impractical, sometimes even confusing. So, I decided to play around the layout a bit and have come up with a result that might work better organization-wise.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1ST ROW: Includes Explore, Hunting, Herbalist and Pup Training. I think that it's best to have pack-related tokens at the top.

2ND ROW: Includes Questing, Raccoon Wares, The Enclave and Trading Centre. Since earning currency is almost as important as taking care of your pack, I put these tokens second.

3RD ROW: Includes Games, Raffle Hub, Groups and Leaderboards. Some fun activities to do!

4TH ROW: Includes Custom Decors and Wardrobe, both of which are cosmetics.

5TH ROW: Includes utility tokens!

Here's my previous version. And this user's comment was my inspiration to update it.

Anyways, that's it. Please, do let me know what you think, I'm open for suggestions and discussions!

I feel like Groups and Raffles should be by eachother and the Leaderboard and pup training should be close by as well. But I do like the arrangement overall

Edit: Also maybe questing should be by the leaderboard too since there's a quest leaderboard I believe?

hello #5084! these are pretty good suggestions but i personally would leave the quest snake on the top as it's one of the most important tokens on the page. plus, it mostly relates to your lead wolf and the pack's progression in general. groups would also fit in the third row well but at the same time, a group can be anything, even non-gameplay related (like LGBT). as for leaderboards, i'm not sure, yours makes a lot of sense too! that's just me though!

Ok yeah, that does make sense for those positions, wasn't really thinking that way when I first saw the post.

I like your ideas more than it currently is but I also would feel it'd be better if searching functions were grouped together: Search, Item Catalogue. Eventually, Leaderboards and Wardrobe also grouped with those as purely information based pages not affecting our gameplay related variables (assets, wolf currents).

What if we could customize the token positions as we wish? Every player has their own preference. Also, it might cause confusion when accessing crossroads if token positions were completely reworked.

Oooooh, ok yeah I do like that idea since it's true that we all have differing opinions on this

hii #24018, these are great ideas! though, if i'd be too complicated to implement an adjustable layout, i'd still be perfectly satisfied with a layout we're brainstorming here haha

I would put raccoon wares, trading center, raffles and games on one row, as money-making activities.

welcome to the discussion #22199! in general, i completely agree
after giving it a thought, i decided to seperate game essentials and community-based activities. as raccon wares is a very important token, i left it higher. it is, indeed, a way to make money like trading/raffles, but it does not depend on anyone else (raccoon just has a daily spending limit).
community interaction isn't a necessity to progress in this game, this is why i put its tokens lower. it does make the gameplay easier though, as it provides teamwork (trading with other users, making the game more interesting with custom decor, etc.).
this is just my interpretation. there's no right opinion here, since everyone prioritises other things. but, as i said, generally speaking, it would also make complete sense to put money-making tokens together instead!

Honestly I think it would be best to allow each player to customize how their crossroads menu looks. Idk if thats possible but it would allow each player the ability to move the tokens in a way that is of most importance to the individual.

Questing is the first thing i do upon rollover besides the basic notifs so i'd personally think that should be my #1 token but others dont really do questing at all so it would be more efficient for both of us to be able to customize what is most important to us.
