Best Illustration Software?

Best Illustration Software?
Posted 2022-10-20 14:38:54
I'm curious to know others' opinions -- and maybe short reviews? -- of different programs for illustration! I am wanting to get back into digital art.
I'd appreciate any input at all, just curious to see other perspectives and be introduced to software that I could potentially use.

(I'm sorry if this is the improper forum for this topic)

I use procreate on my iPad pro and I love it. It works great for me :) I can download brushes from online too. It took me a little bit to figure out but once I got it down it is easy to create all kinds of different styles and textures for my art.

Hi!  I'm not sure if you have money to spend on a software so here's a variety of softwares I recommend :)

-Free-
Medibang/Firealpaca- this program is great for starting off as it's super intuitive! Many big digital artists use it just fine to make amazing art.  I also personally use it!  The only downside though is that it is not super easy to import new costum brushes.

Krita- this one has a lot more to offer when it comes to brushes and animation!  But it's less intuitive for starting off, but if you get the hang of it, it can be a very versatile program to work with.  For this one MAKE SURE TO WATCH TUTORIALS!

-pay to use-
Procreate- like Romba said the brush selection is as mazing!!  It's a super intuitive program although there are many hidden feature so I'd recommend a tutorial, and it's a pay once deal for like 10 bucks if I remember correctly.  This option is best for touch devices like ipads.

These are just the ones I personally use and know so this may be biased but any program has its perks, it's up to you to take the time to learn it and make it work, practice really is everything!

Hopefully this helps :)

Thank you both very much! I've used Procreate in the past and loved it, I just wish it was compatible with computers

For me it will always be Clip Studio Paint for Ipad AND PC.
I've illustrated with Photoshop, Sai, Procreate before, and none of those are as much fun as CSP is.
It's really my comfort software

Thank you, I've heard good things about CSP! I have the free trial for now and have really liked it so far

I second Krita! Its free and I'm using rn with just a touch screen laptop and its pretty nice. I thought I would have an issue with no drawing tablet but not with krita!
