[Chased] Allow players to encounter their own Chased wolves

[Chased] Allow players to encounter their own Chased wolves

I did a basic search and reviewed the list of already proposed development ideas and I didn't see this one. However, I'll admit that it's entirely possible I missed it (there are a lot of Chased wolf development suggestions).

Maybe there is a gameplay reason that coding was developed to keep a player from coming across their own chased wolf in a Befriending encounter, but I sure would like to have that restriction removed. While I understand that the odds would still be slim considering the numbers of wolves getting chased by other players, it sure would be fantastic if there was even a small possibility that I would be able to encounter my own chased wolves.

And on the flip side, while there isn't any way to delete a standard NBW instead of chasing it, maybe those disappointing chased game generated NBW encounters would lessen if folks knew they might run into that generic wolf again themselves.

If there's a reason removing that code would be detrimental to gameplay, I'm open to being educated. And maybeΒ  I'm the only one who wishes this were a possibility and the suggestion will die a very fast death.Β  I just thought I'd throw the idea out with all the other Chased Wolf development suggestions on the chance that there are others who feel the same way.

Fully support this! I'd love to be able to find wolves I have chased myself 🀍

The purpose of chasing wolves is supposed to be getting rid of unwanted ones that occupy our space in immediate way without any costs.

Gameplay wise, when I'm chasing the wolves I don't want, why would I like to encounter their downgraded clones to befriend?

I understand your point of view, but as a player who chases wolves that I personally would be very happy to befriend, I would love to be able to find those myself. If that makes sense:) many of the wolves I chase have long generations, which is why I chase them, in hopes that they make it through the pool and someone else will find them, but finding that wolf I chase myself would be amazing.

@Dzanek - while I agree that the original purpose was to quickly get rid of unwanted wolves, I personally think the function has evolved a bit since the conception of the game. People use the function to intentionally raise and chase a wolf with a specific base and/or mark with the hopes that they may emerge on the other side as a NBW. They also use it as a Hail Mary for the chance to give a wolf they're attached to a potential for a second life once they start the death roll age.
As I mentioned there are a lot of suggestion threads on Chased wolves and I guess my thread was started on the assumption (assuming is never a good idea I know) that some of those other suggestions may come into realization in the future. One of them being the ability to "delete" an unwanted NBW rather than having it potentially join the pool of wolves who are specifically chased with the hope that they make it to a players befriending screen in the near future.Β
And I guess from my perspective - why should only other players have the ability to run into your downgraded clone? If you chaseΒ  such a wolf, shouldn't you run the risk of running into it too?

I don't agree with this. You chase wolves theoretically out of your territory to never see them again. No one is forced to do the raise and chase and while it is a player option, it was never something that was intended as the way the player base uses it now. It was to get rid of wolves. If I don't want to keep an NBW, I chase it. If I decide to raise a wolf I think looks cute and may possibly never get back, I chase it. But I know I may never see it again nor am I obligated to have it given back to me. But I am with the use of it's original purpose. To chase something away and never see it again as it was designed.

As Carrie said though, the function has evolved quite a bit. The whole purpose of games is to evolve, and change, as wolvden has already. And while a majority of people don't do the whole R&C thing, a lot of people on here do. Myself included. I don't see any issue with finding a wolf you chased. Like with any nbw you have the option to leave, or accept the wolf. Which is always a risk anyway right? it wouldn't really matter if it's one of your own chased. And as Carrie also stated, if you chase such a downgraded wolf, shouldn't you run the risk of encountering it too? This might help get better wolves out in the chase pool also, which would be better than finding a regular nbw, no? Obviously everyone has there own opinions, and I understand some people wouldn't want this, but personally I don't think it wouldn't be any harm, and I think other players would like the idea too.

I'm gonna be honest I only skimmed this before I'm leaving this comment.
I'll read more into it later and update this comment; but I was linked this topic and I just woke up.

I want this to be known, though.

I saw a couple times above, people mentioned both "no one is forced into r&c" and "chasing wolves was never intended to be used as it is today".

Now those two points need to be really looked at carefully, because if I'm being honest only like a quarter or less of the user base even KNOWS what r&c IS. And because of that, I don't think it really plays into this topic at all.

The second thing, however, is actually pretty false. This game was developed off of Lioden. They had plenty of time to realize that people figured out the "chasing methods" back in LD. The "features" of the game were more or less copy pasted with a few very specific deviations but the "intentions" of the "chasing mechanic" were already known before this game was even in production.

With that said, that knowledge that people migrating from the sister site already knew how to gain access to "rarer lions" on LD would have already know. How to do it here. That "mechanic" then would have technically been "intended" from the get go.

Aight I'ma go back to sleep. I'll look over this later and edit it lmao

Support, but would rather this happen if we get a kill button so there's no chance at encountering re-chased potato NBWs from my pack.

Can you precise what you mean that the function has evolved? Is it that players now chase combos of rare looks instead of single rare features? Or is raising and chasing community greater now than before? Or that mechanics of chasing have changed in the favor of raising and chasing?

Encountering a wolf chased by somewolf else is different than just a downgraded clone - you may encounter a marking or another appearance you have never owned, a potential to breed for something new.

You suggested a mechanic that would affect everywolf, including those who are not interested in raising and chasing and those who would not like to see their own chased wolves because of the trash they were. If you'd like to find wolves chased by yourself, it's because you chase with an intention to have the wolf found and you carry on low generation breeding gameplay. This feature would be dedicated to this small group while putting others at slight disadvantage.
