Merc's Wolvden FAQs
When helping out Wolvden newbies, I have noticed there are some questions that I tend to get a lot. So I thought I'd compile the most frequently asked questions I get here, along with my answers to them, and some tips and tricks you may not have known! I've also created a complete breakdown of all the information shown on your wolf's page.

Visual guided explanations have moved HERE!

Psst... Check out the Grouse House guides!

Q: What's the best way to earn SC/GC?
A: First off, whenever you can, complete your daily quests. Secondly, play as much as you can. The more you explore, forage, craft medicines, hunt, etc, the more resources you will accumulate. The more resources you accumulate, the more excess resources you can sell on the Trading Center. Every single item has a use. Even rotting meat can be salvaged for bones. Finally, grind as much as you can during events. For example, during Lunar Events, play as much as you can so you can save up lots of Lunar Tears (LT). Then you can auction off your LT in the forums or spend your LT on items from the Lunar Shoppe, which you can then sell on the Trading Center. Also, if you have any artistic talents, you can create a shop in the forums and sell your work for SC/GC or even RLC. You could also create Custom Decors.Q: What is this item worth?
A: Go to Crossroads > Trading Center > Search Trades > Items > use the 'Contains (Any)' dropdown menu to select the item you're price checking > Apply Filters. When the results load, click Buyout to sort the listings by price so you can see the lowest current price for that item. Sometimes there won't be any listed, so you won't be able to tell what it's worth, but typically there will be some of that item listed so you can get an idea for the price.
Q: What is this wolf worth?
A: Wolf price checks are usually pretty easy to run, as long as there's something similar up on the market for reference. Let's say you have a NIB (non-inbred), G2 (second generation), T2 (Tier II) female in heat, and you're wondering what she's worth. Go to the Trading Center, click Search Trades, click Wolves, and then use all the filters that come up to find a similar female to what you have (in this case, female, tier 2, in heat, generation 2). Peruse the results to get a frame of reference for the value of your wolf.Q: One of my wolves got sick and now it's infecting the entire pack. How do I stop the spread?
A: You will need to create a Quarantine Cave. To do this, you'll need to gather cave materials (large branch, large leaf, large rock) either from Explore or by buying them from the Trading Center. Once you have enough materials, go to your Den page, scroll down towards the bottom, and use your cave materials to build a new cave. Ideally you will keep this cave empty at all times. When you have a sick wolf, place them by themselves into the quarantine cave. That way, this wolf won't be infecting the rest of your pack while you're working on making a medicine to cure them.Q: Is inbreeding bad?
A: Yes and no. Inbreeding has no health implications or any other consequences for your wolves. However, if your wolf is inbred, it will be worth significantly less SC/GC because a lot of players don't want any inbreeding in their pack. So for example, if you're choosing your next stud and you want him to be profitable, it's a good idea to choose a low-gen, non-inbred (NIB) wolf. But ultimately it's a personal choice, and it's up to you how you want to play the game!Q: How do I know what wolf to choose for my breeding male?
A: Choosing your breeding male is a big decision, and one that you may want to wait on when you're just starting out. It costs a significant amount of GC to replace your breeding male if you're unhappy with him, so choose carefully! Personally, I'd say spend your first few months saving up GC/SC so you can choose a breeding male that you really love. There are plenty of affordable studs you can breed to in the meantime.Q: How do I find good studs in my budget?
A: Go to Crossroads > Search > Search for Wolves > Use the filters to narrow down what you're looking for. Enter your max stud fee in the SC Stud Fee and/or GC Stud Fee fields. I recommend checking off "For Stud" and "Rolled Over Today" under the Options menu so you can find active public studs.Q: Why do my hunters keep having disagreements?
A: You'll need to make sure all of your wolves have compatible personalities. You can purchase personality changers by going to Crossroads > Personality Snake. You can also have the Personality Snake evaluate your hunting party to see which wolves aren't getting along.
Q: What qualities do people usually look for in a stud?
A: This varies from person to person. Some people breed for beauty, some people only breed NIB/clean wolves, some people only breed low-gen wolves, some people breed for stats - the list goes on. The most popular studs tend to be clean, low-gen or NBW T3 or T* wolves with rare eye types, a cohesive color scheme, decent stats and rare/event markings. But if you're not too worried about making profit off your stud/just love him and want to use him for your girls, that's okay too. You can play however you want!Q: How do genetics work?
A: Check out the Grouse House genetics guide here. Also check out the Grouse House directory. Grouse House has a ton of phenomenal information and resources!Questions? DM me!
