Best way to get amusement items?

I feel like this is the only thing really holding me back now I've figured out the hunting dynamic. It seems like I'm constantly fighting a losing battle with amusement items and I think I'm missing a trick?

I've been sending scouts to places already discovered, and obviously  getting what I can whilst exploring, but it's a struggle!

Yes, rescouting is good for getting amusement items!

But you can also get a lot by exploring. Especially now with the event. One of my favourite amusement items encounters are the flying birds. If you have an acorn you can exchange it for amusement. The sitting red bird doesn't give amusement, but food for your lead.

Also, if you have rotting carcasses with only one day left, you can use the "salvage" button to turn half of the uses left into bones.
