Community Update #37

Community Update #37
Posted 2022-04-01 10:21:45

Community Update Day!

Just as a reminder, these updates are smaller and are more focused on the community.  Whereas Development updates are centralised on adding in new features, expanding upon or adjusting existing features, and implementing new artwork and coding, Community updates are meant to introduce weekly raffles, new weekly raffle studs, new polls, and showcase some minor changes and bug fixes that have been made in the past week.

Official Wolvden Raffle!

Our latest weekly raffle is out!  Each person can purchase 1 ticket at maximum to have a chance at winning a neat prize for the amazing price of 5 SC per ticket! Good luck!  You can find the official raffle here!
This raffle will automatically end on 2022-04-08 at 00:30.

Sales Chat Update

While we do not have too much of an issue with players spamming Sales Chat and violating the "do not post ads for the same asset or service more than once per 10 minutes" rule, we have decided to implement a change to the chat room to get ahead of any potential spamming issues as the community grows.

Starting today, we have implemented a 10 minute timer within Sales Chat, identical to the one that exists in Giveaways Chat.  This means that each individual account can only post one time every 10 minutes.  The 10 minute timer starts as soon as your message is sent and prohibits you from posting until the timer is up, so please be sure you're sending the right advertisement out as you cannot correct it until 10 minutes have passed.

With this adjustment, we no longer permit players to post up to four different advertisements at once in Sales Chat, as this is not compatible with the 10 minute timer.  We understand many of you have multiple sales you would like to advertise at one time, so we encourage those of you with multiple sales to compile them onto a Stockpile forum topic.  You can then link to your topic once every 10 minutes in Sales Chat.

Giveaways Chat Update

Over the past few months, we have been observing all comments and concerns regarding Giveaways Chat, and we have noticed the main issue is that not every player wishes to receive PMs when giving away assets.  We fully understand how pinging in the chat room was a more effective way to claim an asset, and having to PM instead can be a hassle for players who may not want to engage in social aspects, or who might want to keep their inbox space tidy.

With this in mind, we've made an adjustment to Giveaways Chat.  The "Ping User" option has been removed from the context menu in chat ("...") and replaced with the option to "Claim"—you can now claim giveaways without needing to ping, PM players, or post on forum topics.  Of course, if you would prefer to host PM or forum giveaways, you're still welcome to do this.  For those of you who just want to do quick giveaways, however, this may be a better option.

How does claiming work?

All messages sent in Giveaways Chat can now be "Claimed".  When a player selects the "Claim" option, a selectable box pops up within the chat message that contains a number value.  The number value indicates how many different players have claimed a message.  Selecting this box will show a numbered list of the players that have claimed that message in order of who claimed first (starting with 1), along with their IDs and clickable links to their den pages.  This mechanic makes it easy to see at an immediate glance if a giveaway has already been claimed by another player, and it enables a player offering a giveaway to know who has claimed without needing to wait for a PM or forum topic post.

With this mechanic, you could even host small giveaway games, such as "seventh player to claim gets T3 wolf"—similar to how ping giveaways were conducted in Main Chat.

We hope that this adjustment to the Giveaways Chat is a good middle ground for players who preferred ping-oriented giveaways—the ping is still there in essence, but the chat room remains organised, tidy, and easy for players to participate in, especially as visible claims make it easy to see if something has already been claimed by a player.

As an additional note, if you are viewing a claim list and you see "Unknown Player", this means that a block exists between you and the player that has claimed a Giveaways Chat message.

Raffle Stud Winners and New Raffle Stud!

Congratulations to the players that won a breeding with last week's raffle stud!  You'll know if you won, as you'll have received a Game Notification in your inbox informing you of such! As a reminder, the previous raffle stud's exclusive attributes were the Brown Wings Heavy and Yellow Inverted Panda markings!

Our newest weekly raffle stud has been released!  His special attributes are the Black Wings Heavy and White Wings markings!  Enter for a chance to win a breeding with him by clicking here!

Poll Results!

Thank you all for voting on last week's poll!  It's interesting to see how many of you use the raffle stud feature, and how many breedings have been won so far.  For those of you who haven't won yet, we wish you the best of luck!

News!!    !    !

Personal note:  The Sales' update is,,,,, not the best. I think ten minutes is a bit excessive, and it would probably be a much better idea that, if a cooldown is necessary (which, personally, I don't believe), the time should be at most one minute. Hopefully, though, this is some April Fools joke, or at least will be fixed in the next update
