Minigame: Wolf racing!

Minigame: Wolf racing!

I had an idea for a new minigame: a wolf racing game where your wolf could compete with other wolves site-wide. (A bit like the lottery, except with stats playing a significant role.) I think the current lottery is kinda boring, since it has nothing to do with our wolves, and it would be fun to have a more wolf-centric version.

Here's how it would work:

1. Every day, each player can submit an adult wolf to enter the next day's race for a small fee (10-20 SC?). There are two race categories: lead wolves and pack members. Optionally, there could be more categories, e.g. a youth category for adult pack members under 2 years old, or an NBW category.

2. The race occurs the next day at 1:00 WDT. If an entrant is no longer in their pack, or if they are sick/nested/immortal/in a trade, they are disqualified and the entrance fee is not refunded. Performing a role (e.g., hunting, scouting) is OK.

3. Winners in each category are chosen by weighted RNG, heavily influenced by stats. Speed/agility play a big role, but there's enough randomness that the highest stat wolves may not win; the racetrack is full of surprises!

4. Participants receive a notification of the results, with flavor text about their wolf's performance (possibly including interactions with participants from other packs). The top wolves in each race category are also posted on the main racing page.

5. Ideally, I'd like there to be no cash prizes, so the game functions as an SC sink. Prizes could include racing-exclusive decor to commemorate your wolf's win. If it's not too much trouble for the game's artists, the top prizes could rotate on a monthly basis. For instance, January's prize would be given to all race winners in January, and then retired from production until next January, so there would only be a few copies of the item in the game.

Support!

I think it'd be good if there were a whole bunch of different races for different stats - for example there could be a race where wolves would need to navigate a maze the fastest and smart wolves would be good, or maybe they have to climb up a mountain and strength would be best. I like the other categories like NBW and even pup races, they'd be fun and would be able to include more types of players who could win prizes.

I like the prize incentive, especially the prizes returning after a year. Everyone can get a shot and if they know they like the upcoming decor, they can plan ahead to try and get it.

And oh my god I'd love to see the part about interacting with other pack's wolves!! It'd be so cute 🥺

Love minigame idea, would play one. I like all Lionel's points with point 3. overridden by Embers, except for point 1. regarding splitting into categories: just let everywolf throw their best as they don't live long.

I agree on having categories for stat numbers. 100 and under stats in speed and/or agility can only compete with others that are also 100 stats and under, those with 100 to 200 stats only compete with those that are also 100 to 200 stats, etc etc).

It would keep newer users and non stat breeders from getting discouraged by the game (as even if RNG will not always allow the highest stat wolf to win, users can still get put off by placing their 115 stat wolf in the same race as a 600+ stat wolf). It is also reminiscent of how animal sports work in real life. They are normally done in age groups because a younger age equals less experience. So I feel that age categories can possibly be omitted if stat categories are utilized (though both can coexist without issue).
