Red Marauders (lore page, do not post)

please do not post anything here, thank you ♥

I'll just dump my unfinished lore here for now until I get the motivation to go through and redo it.

The Red Marauders is a notorious raider tribe where no one really gets along, but they always get their way through violence.
This isn't a friendly place and my lore contains moderate violence, reader's discretion is advised.
Life in a boreal forest at the base of a mountain ridge is tough, winters are long and dark while food is scarce, and yet this is where the Red Marauders made their home. It's not a friendly place, constant infighting and disagreements make life even harder for the chaotic tribe. The only one keeping them together and organized enough is Alpha Snake. Every marauder either looks up to him with respect, or fear him and his position enough not to argue, for those who do oppose him usually won't get to see another spring season. Alpha Snake will only give you one warning, which is far more than other marauders tend to give, and if you didn't pay attention you're in for an avalanche of trouble. The most strict rule the tribe have is "only worthy prey may be consumed". This means if the prey was large and dangerous enough to fight back, or a rare find, it's worthy to be eaten. Rabbits, birds or any worthless creature are beneath them, no marauder shall resort to eating anything less than what they deserve! If a marauder is found eating lesser prey they will be dragged off to 'the isle': a place littered with rotting corpses and bones in the middle of the valley, smack centre in full view of everyone. There rulebreakers are chained and left to starve, or be tortured by anyone who is in the mood for some "fun".
Reputation is everything to the marauders. Red Raider is the elite title a marauder can achieve, they are the hunters and the pillagers, the very life essence of the tribe. Becoming one requires the highest of skills and discipline, if you're lacking in just one department, you're out. Because of their high rank they eat second, right after the Alpha. The tribe isn't too concerned about the next generation, there won't be one if the adults starve, and so the pups get the very last remaining scraps.
Being a large tribe means there's plenty of mounts to feed. To keep the tribe from starvation the raiders spend more time out hunting than they do inside the valley, but despite their best efforts some marauders may starve regardless during the harshest of winters. The marauders always have scouts constantly giving reports about nearby tribes and their defences. Any time a tribe is looking weak, they strike. Raiding is what the marauders are most notorious for. Food, resources, anything is fair game for the marauders to take, and they are extremely good at it. They strike when tribe's guards are low, they emerge from the shadows with brute force when you least expect it. This is how they are always successful, and are so highly feared. Raiding is harder than ever during the worst winter months, when food is most scarce, because that's when desperate raids have been known to happen. With tribe's defences on high alert it is too risky to strike, launching a full on attack when the raiders are already weakened by hunger could result in failure, and the marauders refuse to fail. The tribe will just have to go hungry until they can find the perfect moment to strike.
Pups are born at spring's start to ensure they have all of the short summer to grow before the harsh winter returns. Once weaned, pups are left to fend for themselves. If they survive their first winter; they'll become a fully fledged Red Marauder. This is not an easy task, most starve within the first week and even fewer make the first month. Even though the pups aren't cared for, they are still kept under supervision, although limited. If a pup is caught eating a lesser prey they will be executed immediately. Stealing meat on the other hand is highly encouraged as it is a valuable skill if they are to become raiders one day, but if they are caught in the act they are severely punished. Some pups die from the given injuries and therefore not every pup dare steal from the adults, until they get really desperate. It is always easier to steal from other pups which often leads to bloody battles. Got a prize? Better hide and eat it fast.
Illness is another problem, if a pup gets stick it's usually a death sentence. Cuts and scrapes aren't cared for among the adults either, if you can't handle a small flesh wound on your own; you're not marauder material. Only if a marauder gets severely injured or contagiously ill do they get treatment, but even that is not a guarantee since there is only one wolf in the entire tribe who can heal the wounded: The Shaman. If they are busy treating wolves with a higher status than you; tough luck. Raiders always get top priority because of their high status, as soon as a raider return with an injury the shaman will drop whatever they're doing, or whoever they were treating, to survey the damage.
The shaman always have one apprentice assistant. Everything they know is taught to that wolf so that when the shaman dies they can step up and fill the role, then take on an apprentice of their own. This apprentice usually have the task of observing, lending a helping paw, and gathering medical herbs. Although raiders have the overall highest ranking, the only ones higher besides the Alpha are the shaman and their apprentice due to their invaluable knowledge.
The Red Marauders are rather large in numbers and are spread out over a huge valley that nests in between mountains. Winters are long and dark in the north, while the mighty mountains protect the tribe from the harsh winter storms they also insolate the chill air, resulting in snow always covering the ground even in the warmer summer days. There is a rather large freshwater lake running through the entire valley, it even hosts a tiny island in the middle commonly called the isle, which can be accessed easily.
The tribe utilizes tools and other advanced means to improve life, like skinning carcasses and using the hides to make warm huts.
Every access point into the valley have solid gates which are guarded at all times, even though no outsider knows of the valley's location. To keep it that way; no one gets in, or out, without permission. Every wolf need a special seal, given only by the Alpha, if they are to be allowed passage.
Thanks to the marauders hostile reputation, other tribes living close to their forests live in constant fear, not knowing when and where the berserk tribe may strike next. Those strong at heart will attempt to join the marauders, and only if they can prove themselves worthy shall the be granted the title. Most often times tribes will flee the boreal forests and try to find shelter elsewhere, but when they start to run; the chase is on.
Before any pup born in the Red Marauder tribe gets to wear the title of Marauder, they have to prove themselves strong enough by surviving their entire first winter on their own. This ensures only the strongest pups, who can overpower all other pups to get to the needed food, survives. Dove was born too early and thus very weak, resulting in her survival being at risk. Growing up she was taught by her father how to be strong, but due to her weaknesses she became more and more frustrated when she couldn't do what was asked of her.
"I can't, Fa, I just- it's not-.." trailing off to silence midsentence and lowering her head before the tears come forth. She knows she can't let her weakness show, it's not the marauder way. Her father would give her that same stern look that he always did, she knew he was disappointed in her, he probably wished she was never born.. "Again." he would eventually call out and the impossible training would start all over again.
After a month of training without progress her mother stepped in, and with her Dove was able to really hone in on her real skills. What she lacks in brawn, she makes more than well up for in brain, and through her mother's training she quickly learned how best to survive.

!! ON SUMMER BREAK !!

spoiler text="read me for more info"I'm currently taking a WD break for the summer, I will be rolling over every now and then but not very often.

if it's urgent then please contact me via links provided in the "find me" section.

to more accurately see if I've rolled over today; go and take a look at one of my wolves to see if they have rolled. (sometimes I accidentally open a WD tab out of habit and that triggers online activity, despite not actually rolling)

I will fully return sometime in late autumn or early winter! ♥
/spoiler
-all decor will be kept after death, permanently immortalized in the dynasty-
Growing up starving as a Red Marauder did nothing in terms of gaining her loyalty to the tribe. She fought her way through to adulthood, taking a lot of beatings along the way, until she could earn a spot among the scouts. Once she was able to safely flee; she never looked back.
Hunted by the tribe she is always on the move to avoid recapture, or at least that what she tells herself. In reality things just don't go so well when she tries to settle down. Her aggressive marauder behaviour makes it extremely difficult to be liked—who knew, am I right?—and so as soon as she arrives, she is just as quickly chased off again.

Write a continuation of her story, it doesn't have to be long, as long as you write something rather than nothing!
• Adding decors is optional, but if you do; please try to only add natural/matching ones.
• Try not to keep her for more than 7 days please!
• If bred; send her off as soon as pups wane.
• Please do not touch her markings, or add any, without asking first!
• Don't change name or footnote please, I will change it back if you do.
• Do NOT edit the bio, only add to it!!

The fresh air never tasted better, because today it finally tasted of freedom. Not wanting to linger close to the tribe, she turned her nose south and trotted off at a slow but consistent pace..
Mire first came across the Howlhaven pack. They were newly established – the kind of pack that would be easy pickings for the Red Marauders, she couldn't help but note. She was equally unimpressed by their hunters; there were only three of them working to feed the whole pack, and while they were good at stalking and chasing their prey, they often failed to finish the job. Even without any previous hunting experience, Mire's strength bred from surviving with the Marauders made her a better finisher than any of them, so she joined them on several hunts. Though this pack was new and fairly dumb about some things, she was surprised to find that their aggressive personalities meshed well with her own.

During a hunt in the prairie, Mire was mesmerized by some of the glowing, otherworldly yellow lights that had shown up that November. When she finally managed to snap out of it, she discovered she had been separated from the other hunters and didn't recognize her surroundings at all. She chose to take this as a sign to move on; those newbies at Howlhaven would have to learn to survive without her.

Howlhaven: November 3 - 11, 2022, added Yellow Orbs decor, gave birth to Marauder

-------

Following the river back north, Mire soon came across Pont-y-Rhedyn. Unlike the previous pack, this one was well established with a long history - despite this, they were so incredibly soft. It was a wonder how they hadn't been stomped out. Regardless, their hunters had several generations worth of knowledge to impart, and Mire was eager to take advantage of it. With little convincing needed, she was introduced onto the pack's junior hunting party. Though similar in age, her peers were much too easy-going and boisterous for Mire's liking, and she was quick to turn her aggressive attitude on them. The young hunters were easy to influence and eager to prove themselves, quickly falling victim to Mire's goading. Under her sharp words the party started moving further south, taking on more challenging prey in more difficult terrain. This all came to a head in early winter. The party had persued a pack of boar deep into the swamp and, unfamiliar with the boggy landscape, were quickly overcome when the prey retaliated. Unable to flee in time, several of the hunters were grievously injured, one fatally so. Taking advantage of the chaos, Mire slipped away from the distraught hunters. This wasn't an outcome she would be answering for.

Pont-y-Rhedyn: November 12 - 21, 2022, added Bird's Nest [Tree], continued work as a finisher

-------

Her journey took her to the mountains where she was found by an unusual pack known as the Lunae Lumen Pack . In addition to their long history, they have an odd fascination with the moon. Since she was found at full moon, they believe she may be related to the moon lady, so they should welcome her into their home. Her options were limited and she was tired after an extended journey, so she stayed with them, even though she wasn't sure if it was a good idea.
Taking part in hunting is not possible for her since there are two hunting groups in the new pack. Their preference instead is for her to take care of their puppies, a large number of puppies. Mire wasn't happy, that's why she fled as soon as the opportunity appears. It's best to leave annoying puppies with their own pack.

Lunae Lumen Pack: November 21 - 26, 2022, added Celtic Astrology [Diamond] - Oaken Ogham Stick, work as a puppsiter

origins. (nothing is finsihed or refined, only brainstorming so far. expect plenty of spelling errors)

wolves are the typical standard species, the world is mostly dominated by wolves.
dievn are soon to go extinct. they are almost twice the size of wolves and have a natural strong build. their coats are very thick and they have noticably longer fur on their cheeks, eartips, legs/paws, neck, and tail. the most iconic trait are their extreamly long fangs, almost to the point of being saber teeth. males have much longer fangs than the females.
ulvn are the product of a dievn mother and wolf father. the first generation are the strongest, but it only gets more diluted as the gene mixes with more wolves, therefor ulvn may also go extinct one day. ulvn are larger and stronger than wolves, but nowhere near dievn level, it's somewhere inbetween. they have ticker coats but not the longer parts of the fur. only males have notably longer fangs but they are only as long as female dievn's.
wolves get to around 20 years. in the first 3 years the pup grows rappidly, 4-5/6 they are adols. 6/7-11 are the prime adult years. 12-14 is the middle age, when they start to feel their age. 15+ they are considered elders. under good conditions dievn/ulvn live a couple years more on average.
in a word without humans, the planet is dominated by wolves (with a few sub-races)
there are mostly tribes and villages, many are primitive. the world is divided into smaller sections and each section have a capital, those are the wolves that call the shots on what is and isn't allowed etc. in the middle of all the land lies the Grand capital, where wolves are more advanced and rule over ALL the lands. they have the say on what the smaller capitals can can can't do. some sections don't have capitals because they're either unlivable, or too hostile, or simply not worth the effort. the north used to be such an area; the dievn were ruthless and the winters were too unplesant. simply not worth the effort to capitalize. until the red winter. with one of the bad reasons gone the north was open for the public. they decided no capital was to be made because not enough wolves wanted to live in the north. the place became one of smaller tribes scattered across the lands, where they were more isolated from the rest of the world. in many cases it's a place were wolves came to flee the watchful eyes of the capitals.
since the north is so isolated it is a lot simpler in their ways of living.
tools are usually made out of bone or flint. theree is no metalwork because flames hot enough are hard to keep alive in the cold winds, and no metalworkers ever came to the north. all things metal are imported from the south, one way or another, and therefor it is quite rare to come across.
the north was once dominated by the dievn race, more brutal and bloodthirsty than any other wolf. they grew in numbers, unchecked by the capital due to being so fearsome. eventually the dievn started taking more and more land, until they were uncomfortably close to the major wolf populations. the capitals finally took action and drove them back, but years later they returned, getting even closer this time. being driven back once again, the dievn didn't return for quite some time. they were gathering their strengths and numbers, wanting to overthrow the opressers and fully take over. but the capitals were expecting it, and they were ready. seeing no other alternative they decided to deal with the problem more permanently. dievn are made for the north with thick coats and high tolarance to cold, they don't do so well in warm tepretatures, and so they launched all their attacks in winter to benefit them the most. this winter however all the snow the north was painted red, countless lives on both sides were lost, the event went down in history as the Red Winter.
the dievn were driven to near extinction, the survivors fled and scattered across the north, but in the end not many survived their wounds. wolves were patrolling the north for many months before the capitals decided all the dievn were gone. wolves were allowed to move into this new unclaimed land and make it a new home. what no one knew, is that one group of dievn survived.
snake's small group of survivors found lake isabella and made it a refuge for the surviving dievn. by the time they were able to safely head out and search for more dievn it became clear that they were all that was left. since males are so stupidly arrogant and stubborn, snake was the only male smart enough not to get himself killed. it soon became apperant that the dievn were truly going to die out, after arguing and disoray they all finally accepted this fate. but all was not lost, the first generation of ulvn were born. with a dievn mother the pup gained most of her genes and although not as big and strong as a dievn, they were still noticably mightier than wolves. to many of the dievn's dismay, their warlord fell for a wolf instead of one of their own. since the pup came from a wolf mother instead of a dievn, the newborn ulvn was much smaller and weaker than the others. when warlord snake died and said pup took his place, many were displeased having such a weak ruler. their new warmother was highly disliked but out of respect for their beloved warlord, the marauders allowed dove a chance to prove her worth.
