Current Month: October

All the leaves have started to fall off the trees, the air is cold and dry. It has yet to snow. The local deer are currently starting to get ready for the rut(breeding season), so they are trying to fatten up on the local acorns and nuts falling from the trees. The river separating the territories has yet to freeze, thus too dangerous to cross unless you are a determined and strong swimmer.

It was early in the morning, the sun was barely coming over the horizon when a small, feeble pup awoke from her deep sleep. Her tail lay over her cold, wet nose, acting as a bearer against the frigid breeze that forced more leaves to fall from the surrounding trees. Her sparkling blue eyes scanned her surroundings area, watching as nature and all her critters awoke from their slumber, ready to start the day. Zofia lifted her head off the warm ground from beneath her and let out a breath taking yawn. "Its getting sooo cold" she whispered under her breath. This would be her first winter ever, and boy she was not ready for it. "I swear I didn't sign up for this." She grumbled as she stood up from her spot and stretched out her aching little legs. "Mmm.. I guess I'll try to find Borealis. Maybe he'll come with me to the river later. I'm in the mood for some fish for breakfast." Zofia spoke softly to herself before wandering off in the direction of a slow flowing creek. This same creek traveled all the way through her pack's territory, leading right into the fast flowing river separating the Cobalt's territory and the Outcasts. Luckily for her, she was not headed that way just yet.

Zofia trotted alongside the creek, her steps quiet and swift. With each step, her little tail swayed effortlessly behind her, brushing against the amber colored leaves that now lined the forest floor. In a matter of moments, she stumbled upon a den, burrowed between a stack of large rocks covered in emerald green moss beside the creek. A smirk spread across her face as her tail started to sway even faster, "Borealis! Are you down there? Helllooooo!" She called for her friend to answer but after a few moments of silence and no answer, she grumbled in disappointment. 'Maybe he went down to the river without me. How rude', she thought. Zofia's dazzling blue gaze glared down the hole one last time before taking off towards the opposite direction, towards the river border. Her small legs dancing beside each other as she entered a gallop. Despite being a small pup, she was quick on her paws. It won't take her long to reach the waters edge…

That's perfectly fine...

It was early morning, though Mars had not slept at all that night. He sat under a tree not far from.the river boarder, his tail wrapped around himself, shivering uncontrollably. His grey eyes glittering darkly in the dim light. Heron had swore he would meet him here, just around this time, except he had not been seen since he had been told. No one ever really cared where Mars went or when he left, they barely kept their eyes on him anyway. Mars always liked to watch the boarder for wolves of their mortal enemy, though he never understood why. He yawned, laying his head down though his ears perked, listening for any signs of someone approaching.

Zofia continued her pace for what seemed like, forever. Her head bobbed and weaved, avoiding low hanging branches and a possible headache had she ran into one. Within a matter of moments, the river started to come into view. The pup's pace began to slow to a light trot. 'If Borealis is down here, I want to scare him', she thought as a devilish smirk formed across her face. As she reached the tree line, however, Zofia stopped just out of view and in the shadows. Her ears perked, rotating like a satellite… Waiting and listening. As far as she could tell, her little ears could only pick up the sound of flowing water from the river, echoing through trees. "Mmm… Maybe hes not here yet. I guess I'll fish alone." she mumbled to herself. With a soft huff, the young pup peaked her head out from the foliage surrounding her. Her piercing blue gaze scanned up and down the river but to her surprise, she spotted not a single soul. At least, not one she could see. Yet at the same time, she wasn't looking that hard anyways.

Zofia lifted her right paw and began to step out into the opening. Her fuzzy merle coat being brushed down against her back and sides from the harsh, frigid wind. Ever so slowly, the young pup crept out, now fully submerged into the wind. Her gaze shifted side to side, continuously scanning the river banks, on edge. Her parents told her to be wary of the enemy pack members. She's never met one herself, but shes always heard how vicious they were. All the darkened stories of their behavior and how they treat other wolves has made her hate them. She feared the day she would finally meet one…

Mars had began to doze, his ears drooping slightly, until he began to here pawsteps. He bolted upright, scanning the river when he spotted someone. One of the Cobalts' pups, he found it quite odd for one to be so near the river, especially alone. He got up stretching out and yawning, then he quietly made his way down to the riverbank.

Zofia shook her head, clearing her thoughts of meeting any Outcast members. Just the thought of one sent shivers down her spine and brought a sour taste to her tongue. Instead, she changed her mind back to what she came here to do, fish. The young lass slowly walked directly up to the rivers edge, doing her best to not scare off any fish. Her eyes darted back and forth, watching minnows and some smaller fish dart around like a dance. Suddenly, a darker, larger shadow emerged from the rocks below. She eagerly smiled, her tail began to wag in excitement. Her body lowered to the ground to the point where the fur on her belly became damp from the cold, wet sand. "On the count of three… 1.. 2… 3!" She yelled and pounced into the water, causing a large, echoing splash. The cold water seeped into her fuzzy pelt, sending shivers down her spine. Yet to her surprise… She got it! A decently sized trout. Zofia dragged the flopping, slimy fish up on to the bank. Satisfied with her catch, the young pup let out a small howl of approval. "Yesss!" She squealed.
