Like the title says. I can't figure out this specific appreciation. I've only been playing wolvden for about a week and have gotten the hang of most other things.

I thought it stood for generation, but I'm uncertain.

G stands for Generation. This term is made up by community to determine the wolf's ancestor chain. You can check the wolf's generation but looking at his heritage tree (wolf's page -> "View Family" button).

Most of users define generation depending on the highest ancestor by the following induction:
  • G1 wolf is one that has no parents in heritage tree.
  • Gx wolf (x is a number of generation) has Gx-1 parent and another parent with the same or lower generation.

Example: G1 wolves are the ones you start with, get from customization tool or encounter while exploring. G2 wolves are children of G1 parents. G3 wolves are children of G2 parents or G2 and G1 parent. G4 wolves are children of G3 parent and another parent being G1, G2 or G3, and so on.

This is how most users define generation.

There are also some other users who define it as depending on certain wolf's feature, for example G1 Tombac is the one that has no Tombac parents, giving birth to G2 Tombac wolves and so on. However, this term is different from what most users use and usually leads to confusion when labeling wolves.

So, suppose you breed two wolves together. The father is a very high gen, like 12th gen, and the mother is a 4th gen. What would the pups' gen look like? Would it be 13th, 5th, or something else entirely?
