Hunting Party - General Questions

Hunting Party - General Questions
Posted 2021-09-11 14:35:44
Hello!  I have a lot of questions about hunting parties.  I already get how party synergy works, and my hunting party is at 100% synergy all with compatible personalities but for some reason the success rates for my hunts aren't as high as I'd like them to be.  Critter trails are around 60% for me.  Is there a way to make this percent better?
I also would like to start buying/breeding better wolves for hunting.  Does anyone have tips on how to do this and what stat ranges are good for stalkers, chasers, and finishers?  Or does anyone have tips on how to breed higher stats in general?  Thank you!

I'm looking at your hunting team and I see that they all have 298-349 stats. That would be fine for an easy difficulty biome. But you're living in the Riparian Woodland, which is a medium difficulty biome. The higher the difficulty of the biome, the harder the hunting is, and the higher stats your hunting team needs to be successful. The good news is that your hunters are only level 5-8 and fairly young, so they have plenty of time to gain stats and improve over their lifetimes. Send them on the biggest trails they can find so they gain EXP faster. This means you might have to buy food in the Trading Center if your hunters can't bring in enough. But eventually, they'll start doing better and your pack will become self-sufficient again.

Breeding better hunters is all about stats and training. Stalkers need smarts and wisdom. Chasers need agility and speed. Finishers need strength. Breeding your wolves near the end of their lives (6-7 years old), when their stats are higher, helps a lot. But targeted training is better. It can even make up for breeding earlier. Do you have a puppy who's naturally smarter than the others? Train him/her in smarts and wisdom, apprentice him/her to your stalker, and make him/her your next stalker.

To add to what spotpc said, pup stats are based on their parents' stats. So if you find a stud with a lot of smarts/wisdom, their pups will also have high smarts/wisdom and be natural stalkers. That plus the boost from training can go a long way.

Thank you both very much for answering my questions!!  I didn't know I should be making my hunters take the biggest trails, I've been doing the opposite of that!  But I know now, so I'll make sure I assign them to the biggest ones!  Also thank you for the breeding and training tips!
