Chased wolves and lore?

Chased wolves and lore?

Hi! I'm thinking of making a lore based pack, but there's one thing i havent figured out- what to do with chased wolves in my lore?

Do you have a lore pack? Are your chased wolves included? Are they exiles, or leaving to seek out a new home, etc? I'm curious to know what other people write about them!

Edit: i'm also curious about wolves that have been sold or listed for sale as well. Do you make it literal in your lore? I have sold two wolves and im not sure what to say happened to them

For me, wolves I chase are just wolves naturally leaving the pack (or if I feel like being creative, maybe there's an altercation/banishment sort of thing), and chased wolves I befriend/buy are loners who are allowed in.

Most puppies I sell I just write off under the table, most end up as bear fodder and disappear anyways. Any that are kept into adulthood (even if sold then) could be written into lore.

I ran into a bit of a problem when I picked up some breeding projects and made my pack... 40-ish adult wolves, which is totally unsustainable irl. So in my last biome move I made it that my Mojaves and Foxes were two other packs in/near the territory.

Not that I have really any lore written... but it's there. In my brain. Maybe.

That makes a lot of sense to me! None of mine is written either, but my wolves are definitely cherished characters in their own right in my head, so I understand where you're coming from there!

I think those are very sensible ways to go about it!  Especially the idea of splitting packs. I'll have to try that if mine gets very large

Thank you so much for your insight! It's very valuable to me as someone just getting my footing here, so I appreciate it lots

Welcome to Wolvden!
One of my chased wolves suffered from amnesia, which sounds cliche, I know.  Turns out, he is a selfish lad so perhaps he was clocked over the head too many tImes?  Rood.  No know.

I also had one who would repeat she wanted to be useful.  So... Useful!  She annoyed the others, but eventually found a proper hunting squad and love!

Wolves I buy don't get too much written usually, as I get nervous for whatever reason!
Wolves I personally chase are considered dispersal wolves if they were bred into the pack (so parents were members).  Or NBW getting chased are understood to have been disruptive or sacrifices to the pack Alliance I has with a friend of mine.  Hers is "evil;" mine toes the line, if you will.

A story needs conflict of some sort to overcome, but it does not need to be terrible.  Write what brings you joy~!

Welcome, hope the game treats you well!

The bulk of the NBWs I find are considered to have simply left behind their old packs - something bad happened and they refuse to speak about it. Ones I chase are either dispersals or never existed lore-wise to begin with. Sales/purchases are wolves that dispersed for whatever reason but are on good enough terms with their old pack to speak fondly of them.

However, since I've started a massive raise & chase program (…/illness farm at times) I've decided that there's some sort of dreamlands-related amnesia/sleeping sickness affecting pups - my pack acts sort of as a field hospital/orphanage for these pups until they recover enough to leave to warmer lands and create a new life for themselves.

Most of the wolves I chase/sell never existed lore-wise in the first place. There are a few exceptions. Sometimes, wolves just decide to leave the pack and set out on their own (raise-and-chase wolves that made it into canon for whatever reason). Once, a hunter pup of mine kept quarreling with his squadmates-to-be, so our pack did a pup swap with another pack. (Actually I gifted him and bought another pup that I liked better.)

The trading center does canonically exist in my lore - see my mojave girl bought at the TC, and the story of my old stud's realgar grandson.

I don't have a lot written down but I do have lots in my mind~

I typically think of wolves I befriend (both standard NBWs and chased NBWs) as loners or wolves that didn't quite fit in with their own packs so they went to find other packs.
When I chase a wolf, I have a similar thought process - they felt they didn't fit in or they wanted to make their own start in the world. The same goes for those I sell.
When I buy a wolf, I like to imagine the lead sent Silver Friend (my main lore wolf, they're kind of like a guardian for the wolves I chase/sell in my mind) to see if any other packs have misfits that could be good in whatever role I'm looking to fill.

Especially now that my R&C situation has gotten maybe a little out of hand, I'm working on finding other reasons they might have left beyond wanting to make their own start/feeling as if they didn't fit in. Maybe they got lost one day, couldn't find their way home, and another pack picked them up. Maybe a smooth talker lured them away. Maybe they got in an argument with one of the other wolves of the pack and ran off to vent to an outsider and decided they didn't want to come back, that sure would show whoever they were arguing with.
