Announcing my animal-centric webcomic, "Drift"!

I know most of you don't know me probably, but, I'm excited about this and am sharing it here anyway!

I am going to finally start posting my webcomic/graphic novel "Drift" over on Tapas (and also maybe Deviantart) later this month.

Click here for the link if you want to follow along early and not miss any updates

The story revolves around a group of African animals (mainly lions, but also elephants and various other fauna) who are confronted with a variety of literal and figurative challenges that get in the way of their respective goals. At the surface level, "Drift" is an action adventure coming of age story about good vs evil and overcoming your inner demons.

On a deeper level, it's kind of my excuse to explore the various ways we as humans view and respond to the challenges of life based on our unique perspectives and experiences. In using animal characters, my goal is to remove the reader's personal bias based on visual cues of human ethnicity, class, status, etc, and force the reader to just connect with each character in their own context.

Each character grapples with their ideologies, flaws, relationships with one another, etc throughout the story. The meat of the tale revolves around watching how they grow and cope (or don't) with each new obstacle and asking yourself why they responded the way that they did and how you might relate.

So, not related to wolves at all, haha.
But it is an all animal cast so I thought it might be somewhat relevant to interests around here. :3
Thanks for reading about it! Here is some random character concept work from the project (I post things like this and also comic page sneak peeks over on instagram sometimes):

Looks really neat. Loving the painterly style, I'll keep an eye out for the first pages. (:

Oh this looks great! Love the compositional use of the Dutch angle in that preview image.
