Urgent Call to Help Idaho's Wolf Packs!

Urgent Call to Help Idaho's Wolf Packs!
Posted 2021-05-05 15:56:36

Idaho is passing a bill to remove 90% of the state's wolves, read more here. Please reach out to the Governor (you can do so here) and consider signing the Change.org petition (here).

I know we all love wolves, and this is a chance to get involved and support them.

It's cute they want to get rid of what is well known to be a keystone species, most notably in Yellowstone.  I could probably dig up the research if anyone's interested.  And by "cute" I mean I roll my eyes at this as badly as I did when I watched that show on how cougars must've been sick when they et dispersal wolves.  We do more harm than good in these situations.

the news article i had first read said they wanted to take idaho's population of 1.5K wolves (?) to about 500. Like thats way to much, just for hunting and fucking sheep

I know this is older news but..
damn, the statistics for wolves causing any damage is actually low as hell, it's sad that wolves are caught in the crosshairs of politics. I'm not sure what the motivation behind it is, but I know the majority of Americans oppose this bill, regardless of their political party or affiliation.

I would personally recommend supporting Wood river wolf project because they are actually encouraging homesteaders to use non-lethal deterrents. This is very sad and this does not positively benefit conservation efforts, nor is this going to significantly benefit homesteaders or hunters once they run out of wolves.
Why would you kill the beautiful creature who gave you dogs? On top of it, it's almost purely for trophy hunting and taxidermy mounts. I will never understand the fascination to kill something so charismatic instead of seeing the animal alive...
