Real Life Lunar Events and Wolvden's Lunar Event?

I was wondering if the real life lunar events that would unlock all released applicator sets so far has to happen during the Wolvden lunar event on calendar? We just had a pink super moon and I was kind of hoping we'd see something in game to reflect that. 

I thought that's what was said that the real lunar event didn't have to happen during the wolvden event just if it happened that month 

Maybe we miss understood what they ment

I dunno. There was a super moon and a total lunar eclipse and there has been nothing in-game to correspond with those events. Either someone dropped the ball or I don't understand real lunar events??
