Can you use any fox pelt for the base recipe, or only red fox pelts? Likewise with the tails

In the Trading Center I keep seeing people advertise gray fox and arctic fox pelts as items for the base changer. However, the recipe for the base changer specifies that the pelts needed are red fox pelts: Fox Pelt [Red] or Fox Tail [Red]. Will any fox pelt/tail work for the recipe?

I have the fox base recipe (but never crafted it) and, as far as I know, only red pelts/tails are used as indicated in the recipe ingredients:

I imagine that even if you have gray/arctic ones, they won't be counted for this recipe.

But I know that the Fox eyes recipe asks also for the gray ones, so if said trades say that they are for unspecified 'fox recipe', it's not completely wrong.

Safe for Arctic pelts that, at least for what i know, are not used for any recipe at the moment.
