Mentors/Experienced Players: How long did it take you to get where you are today?

I'm new to Wolvden but have played Lioden before. My main problem is that I feel like I play for a while but can't seem to ever have enough $$ to really get down with any projects and such. Spending irl money in the Grove isn't really an option either.

So my question as is above? How did you do it, how long did it take, and what are some tips or advice you would give yourself back when you started? Also, my PMs are open if you'd rather talk privately! :)

Thanks in advance!

I dunno if I'd call myself an experienced player, but I definitely have accomplished most of my major goals :>

I joined in November, but I really started kicking off projects in January and February of this year when my wolf pack was stable. I started getting involved in refunding breeding projects to try and get myself a Tier III (especially those with shorter lineage) which worked!

I really started to get currency when I made my adopt design threads. I noticed quickly that Wolvden users love artwork (which I am no exception to lol). I originally started out making commission portraits but I ended up hating that. My adopt threads really started to kick off during this time, too, so I decided I'd put more focus on to what I actually enjoyed, even if the portraits made more currency per piece. I set a couple hard and fast rules for my adoptable threads: easily made and affordable. Most of the bases for my adoptables are chibi which makes them very easy to customize so I don't burn out from making complex designs.

With this currency I had saved up from my adoptable threads, I decided I'd pick up some breeding projects and perused TC for a couple days looking for good deals on albinos, melanism, carriers, and even Tier IIIs. I noticed that albinos seemed more abundant at the time, so I went with that. I had a better time getting Tier IIIs on chatter through auctions/flatsales than on TC because they weren't as expensive. Be careful with auctions, though. They can get pricey too lol.

My current goal is to work on getting a bigger variety of Tier III bases, maybe some special bases, and getting decor for my wolves. I already have the foundation set for all this stuff, so hopefully I'll get there soon :D

Some advice I'd give is to play your own way. Some people try to bend and twist to the new Wolvden trends as soon as they start getting popular, which is a valid way to play don't get me wrong, but it can lead to getting pretty stressed and burned out from the game. For making currency, do what works best for you. Whatever you enjoy the most - selling wolves, creating decors, commissions, etc. - will probably find you the most success because you're actually enjoying it. For me, adopt designs have been the most successful out of everything I've tried (like selling wolves, trading/selling items, and making commissions).

If you need/want me to elaborate on anything just ask :>

 @Battle_Burrito

I hadn't considered selling art and designs and such :0 one of my goals of this year was to get back into drawing and I haven't done so yet so I'll definitely consider! Your advice to play how you want is really nice too I feel like in the past I lost track of why I wanted to play in the first place and got too caught up in not being able get the new skins/bases/etc, and forget there's so much else to do.  I've also taken a liking to crafting decor so I'm excited to continue with that!

I appreciate the reply, thank you so much for the advice! :)
