Safari, CSS, and Dropbox Issues
Posted 2021-03-22 15:52:36

I know there have been a number of people that have had issues with their CSS not displaying properly on iOS/Safari when using Dropbox as their host. We have been in contact with Dropbox support since March 3rd, shortly after this began. They have finally come back to me with an update on how to fix the CSS issues that have been occurring.

In order for your CSS files hosted on Dropbox to load properly in all browsers, it is advised to change your CSS links to include ?raw=1 at the end of your links. If your links end in .css, .css?dl=0, .css?dl=1, or any variation, please update them to .css?raw=1

Example:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/l4i1xa81ilitu60/test.css?raw=1

Please note that any other issues regarding CSS not displaying or loading properly are due to the platform on which they are hosted, and that Dropbox may not always support hosting static assets such as images and CSS.

Hope this is okay to ask here (since it's pinned I didn't think it would be necrobumping, and I don't think this is something an average user could answer, so I'm asking here vs making a new post). I already searched the forums, so I don't think it's been answered.

But I noticed css to alter the chatbox (like change its colors) is no longer working, but the selectors appear the same. Is it now disallowed to edit the chat box and associated things (the "Growl" button, chat selector, etc.) with css?

@fireflii: It looks like this might be a browser issue. I checked in a couple of browsers and it showed properly:

Then I checked in Chrome and it's showing incorrectly:

I'll take a look and see what I can find!

@Michael
Ah, interesting. I didn't think to check other browsers. I'm on Firefox, for what it's worth, though I'm unfortunately not sure when the change happened (since I didn't notice until I saved changes in my den). There was a Firefox update not long ago, but I haven't looked at the details, so I'm not sure how/why it would be affected. I'm not sure on Chrome.

^ Almost posted, but I just checked my den, and it appears to be working again. I'm still using Firefox, so I'm not sure if there was an unannounced changed on Firefox's end (not sure about Chrome still) or Wolvden's end, but it seems to be fixed for now. Crossing fingers!

Just made a couple of updates to ensure it works better across all browsers. Glad to hear it's working! If anything happens and it stops working again, feel free to submit a Bug Report.

Thank you for letting us know!
