The old leader, Stag, was beginning to go moon-mad in his last cycles. His eyes had gone misty and while his mind faded, his bravado remained sharp. He attempted to battle a bear that was encroaching on the pack's lands in early spring, and the great beast bested him. The early death of the courageous leader scattered the large pack. Bone, Squirrel, Petal, Sun, Crystal, Mud, and  Rumble all fled the territory in search of new packs or to form their own. 

The grief caused several of the oldest pack members to mourn until their own ends, wolves that had been with Stag since adolescence and whos spirits could not stand to not run alongside his. Rowan, Hound, and Fox are now walking the star trail beside their beloved leader. 

Sign of Strange Weasel took over the pack, establishing order from the ragged fringes of the now pitiful ranks. He sets out now, a young wolf with fresh ideals, to rebuild.

The new Alpha, Sign of Strange Weasel, has gone on a journey to search for new pack members. After visiting with many packs, he has selected Moon, Mouse, Tricks, Fire, Spring, Hallowed, Owl, Songbird, and Hail to join the pack.  Oddly, these wolves are all she-wolves. Where Stag had welcomed many male wolves into his pack to raise the gene pool to create pups that are not his own, Strange seems determined to claim the packs females as his own. He is still young, though, so his virility is to be expected.

the pack has grown to an astonishing 20 members,  and growing quickly. Strange has lessened his hard rule on pair bonds inside the pack, and some of the newer males have started to court. He is quickly growing into a wise leader, stepping in when the younger studs get overzealous. 

love is in the air! Warble and Meadow have courted and are now mates. Shade and Songbird have also formed a special bond. Strange and his beta, Hallowed, have become quite close and are often at eachothers sides.

This morning, when the pack awoke to greet eachother, one wolf did not stir. The mighty hunter Stormcloud bringing Hail did not leave her nest that day, and as the nervous pack circled her, the herbalist, Spring, after sniffing her over, sent up a mourning howl. Hail's spirit left to walk the star trail along the spirits of her former pack mates. The pack howls for her, wishing her spirit joyous and fruitful travels.
