Day 39 - 3/10/2021

- Ruelle had a wacky ass litter this morning :/ Very, very strange boys out here. There seems to be at least one keeper though: dust boy, gray boy, nocturne girl, diorite boy, marengo girl. The nocturne girl is the runt and looks like her mother but a little more boring, but she got promoted to a T2 base! She's probably the only one I'll be keeping. 6M and not bad opacity on them either :) The father of this litter is retiring literally tomorrow so that's cool if nothing else is. He was the 87th wolf on the site :o

- Ruelle's first litter (Cupra and Frenesi) finally grew up today and I'm heart eyes over both of them. It's a shame Frenesi couldn't see her brother grow up but she knows he's happy in Fierce Grace

- Frenesi's temporarily being made a pupsitter for passive stats until I find what I wanna do with her. I've got two full hunting parties now, 2 scouts, an herbalist, and an excess of pupsitters.

- Pair bonding the childhood sweethearts, Frenesi and Toho :) I'm not gonna breed her on her first heat so they both have a chance to build up their stats. I scried their pups and, they are okay, but I've got enough pretty wolves to grace my eyes so lets have some fun with lore pairings instead :o Skaen and Gehenna are already so much fun to imagine together.

- Frenesi definitely wasn't the shy type and got along with most of the other pups in the Skirt. She had a magnetic personality that didn't dull even after her brother left for Fierce Grace to pursue his own interests. Instead of drowning herself in sadness over his departure, she was happy that the wallflower that once stuck to her 24/7 was going his own way. Toho was much more of an attention seeker and envied the attention Frenesi didn't have to work for, so their relationship started out rocky. Toho's one-sided rivalry with her led them to spend more time together, learning from each other and growing in a way they couldn't have before. As their relationship progressed, the dynamic between the two just got weirder and weirder to the outside eye. They had become much more affectionate with each other, but Toho's impulsive and sometimes foolish behavior continued, contrary to what wolves may have thought after being in such an intimate friendship with a level-headed wolf like Frenesi. Instead, Frenesi seemed to sit back and laugh at the antics Toho would get into on his own. At the end of the day, though, they always sought each other for comfort and healing.

- pfft I've had the lore post written for a couple days but I've been lazy about editing it. I'm going to try with all my might to get it done today

- Going to chase Ladou sometime soon cause I realized just how many pups I have aging up soon o.o 3 of Tyka's pups are aging up in 2 rollovers (he's gonna die right before he sees them as adults 🤧🤧) and then I'll have to deal with the ones I bought. Ladou will surely be a treat to whoever finds him :^) 8M and T2 base, the only problem is how horrifically inbred he is. If anyone reading wants him, you can take him for free! Lmk, otherwise tomorrow he's gone

- I feel like I have to document just how disgustingly inbred he is before I let him go but I don't know the best way lmfaooo. Maybe I'll just make due with screenshots

- OML I just went through and did all the screenshots and how does this boy have any mental capacity whatsoever. This goes beyond just being a himbo. He is lucky he survived childhood with how much his ancestors were - ahem - inter-copulating

What a weird entry I have for you today :o It didn't turn out exactly how I imagined it, but I suppose what I couldn't explain today I'll explain at a later date. The pacing is pretty off in the second half, but I didn't feel like completely re-writing it so I salvaged what I had and tried to make it better. Did I succeed? A Strange Meeting

Winter had reared its ugly head again. The winds were harsher than last year and the revolving door of wolves in the hunting party made it difficult to get a consistent source of food. Had it not been for the stockpile of food they had from the spring and autumn, they would have no doubt starved already. The recent hunt failures had raised the tension in the Clan, and now, not only were the leaders under fire, but the members of the hunting parties as well. Rupina had a bad habit of retreating into herself when things went south, and that did nothing for pack morale. The other two leaders, Arphid and Alien, had to deal with the consequences of her weakness. Many of the older members of the pack understood their leader’s faults and mannerisms very well, but this year, they had a huge influx of new and young wolves, so Alien and Arphid were left to deal with the fallout.

The recent pup deaths and desertion raised questions about Rupina’s leadership capabilities. In reality, there was very little Rupina could do about either of those issues. Pup mortality was a tough pill to swallow, but it was even more common in the winter months. Desertion was something they’d dealt with from the very beginning, but it had never posed much of an issue until now. The two issues together were a poison to the pack.

The first-ever pair bonding of Shiawase occurred between the infamously difficult scout Skaen and the well-loved personality Gehenna, but the fruits of their love bore only tragedy. Every one of their pups was claimed by the cold of the winter. Their grieving impacted the rest of the pack, and coming off the back of Terrine’s last failed litter, it was easy to see how wolves would consider this a curse.

Maagwi had departed from their ranks shortly after, and no matter how much he tried to assure them it was for a personal pilgrimage, some of the pack were convinced it was a stealthily concealed desertion attempt. As it was, things in the Clan were a mess, and it was only the very beginning of winter.

Arwynardha entered the alpha’s caverns a bundle of nerves. She was hardly out of the nest as far as the pack was concerned, but she was already being called for an audience with the alpha. She likely knew what it was for, considering her mentor, Maagwi, had briefed her with the basics of the Diviner role, but it didn’t make it any less nerve-wracking. Her steps grew less and less sure with every meter she crawled into the alpha’s den.

Soon, she was inside the alpha’s personal meeting area. There was a concave blackened pit in the center of the rounded cavern, likely where many of the Circle’s secretive meetings were held. There was no fire burning at the moment, but she could just see the alpha’s haggard face in the corner of the den. They were alone.

After a moment, the alpha stepped up.

“Thank you for coming, Arwynardha of the Pits.”

Arwyn balked at the unfamiliar surname the she-wolf had given her, but quickly lowered her nose to the dirt and gave her respects.

“Greetings to Alpha Rupina, first of Shiawase.”

She stayed quiet, expecting a response from the alpha, but none came. After a deep swallow, she continued.

“For what have you called me here?”

More silence followed, and Arwyn feared she had muffed up the proper etiquette. She looked up in a surprising feat of bravery, only to find the alpha pensively eyeing the wall of the cavern. She cleared her throat and the alpha’s head snapped to her, as if awakening from a daze.

“Apologies, Arwyn.” She paused. “You’ve seen me in an embarrassing state.” The she-wolf stood after a beat, filling out her posture in the way that Arwyn had grown used to seeing.

“I’m calling you here to discuss your future duties. As you well know, your Master, Maagwi, has left on an extended pilgrimage and none of us know his return date. Although it may be premature, we’d like to present to you the role of Clan Diviner.”

A lump gathered in Arwyn’s throat and a familiar sense of dread spread over her entire being. Instead of the joy she would have expected from this responsibility, the fear, loneliness, and uncertainty of the world she was thrown into without her Master had swallowed her whole. She didn’t know what to say to such a proposition, but she also feared the consequences of her decision. It was an impossible choice. It was suffocating. Her breathing began to become audible to herself, and the dampness on her fur started to make her shiver.

After what seemed like forever, the alpha spoke up again.

“I will not thrust this responsibility on you without your consent. It would be immature of me to expect your cooperation given the circumstances, and I am sorry for that.”

The unexpected sincerity in the alpha’s tone had caught the young wolf off guard. She raised her eyes again, meeting the alpha’s vulnerable silhouette with a start. This was nothing like what she was expecting.

“A-alpha, my apologies. I’m young and inexperienced in the ways of the pack.”

The rest of her words caught in her throat, but it was probably for the best. The alpha laughed.

“I also apologize, young Arwyn. I’ve asked something difficult of you without much thought.” She cleared her throat and advanced. “I hate to smother you with this alpha’s worries, but I just wish for you to understand my uncommon dereliction of duty, being the only one that can understand it.”

The alpha’s words tightened at the end of her sentence.

“I know you’ve received visions of the Dreamlands. Maagwi has as well. He told me about them.” She paused. “He kept your aptitude from me for this very reason, but I will ask this of you shamelessly, even with that in mind. In order for us to not fall behind, we need you to pick up his torch, so to speak.”

The alpha’s words made Arwyn feel strange. It sent shivers up her spine, but there was something very, very wrong about a situation in which a wolf in such power would request such a thing from such a young female.

Even so, what Arwyn felt wasn’t repulsion, but excitement. Why was she worrying about it so much? It pulsed through her temples, bringing so much blood to her head that she thought she might faint. What an opportunity! Thoughts of her own ineptitude and inexperience were gone from her head, and all that was left was the greed to advance. It was intoxicating.

“I will do as alpha says,” she finally whispered.

As soon as she uttered the words, the weight of her words caught up to her. What had she done? If she was so vulnerable to the alpha’s small words of praise, what of when she was in a higher position? As if reading the air of her regrets, the alpha’s words quickened.

“You will be given special amenities earned by the Diviner’s position and, especially, your own capabilities. A spacious den will be carved out for you if you don’t care for your Master’s, and you will be given special audiences with me ahead of the rest of the pack. Do you have any objections with these conditions?”

The alpha’s voice was, once again, void of any space to disagree. Even if she had addendums in mind, there was no way she could voice them, given the current atmosphere.

“No, alpha,” she croaked. And like that, she had been ensnared in the alpha’s trap.

The leading wolf let out a great sigh.

“I thank you for your cooperation, Diviner Arwyn. I look forward to our future together.”

With one last smile, the alpha turned her back on the reeling she-wolf, leaving her to dismiss herself. After a brief moment of gathering her bearings, Arwyn mumbled a parting message and left the alpha’s caverns.

TL;DR

So, like, I said I was gonna be better at writing TL;DRs but I kinda just wanna talk instead, hmm? So, obviously, Rupinas got something weird about her in this entry. I don't wanna get ahead of myself, but from the beginning, she wasn't meant to be some altruistic leader. That doesn't mean she's evil, but when the pack's premise is built around success and they have an affinity with natural poisons and extracts, where could this lead them? I don't think Rupina would outright harm a pack member to achieve her goals, but her methods of persuasion are certainly vast

- Skaen finally discovered the Rainforest! Now to work on the glacier

- Nasiphe's litter is so pretty 😊😊 Marengo runt boy with impulsive personality, russet girl with arrogant personality, jet girl with charming personality, chestnut boy with trusting personality, and largest marengo girl with charming personality.

- Of course I'm keeping the russet girl but I might hold onto another :x

- Chased the rest of Ruelle's litter, sans the keeper who still needs a name

- RIP Tyka :(

Day 41 - 3/13/2021

- First day of spring :)

- Rinwal (Fhionne's boy) and Sarid (Terrine's boy) became adols!

- Inei, Polyphoe, and Sagitise became adults :( RIP Tyka again. Although Extotia and Tyka never shared any romantic feelings, she respected the guy enough to have his kids. And now that he's gone right before they became adults, she feels strangely responsible for her children. They'd grown apart after they entered the Skirt, but maybe Tyka's death will rekindle some familial ties.

- Ladou stayed a little longer to pupsit, but now that Extotia's litter has aged up he can be on his way :) See ya old friend, sorry that your meager looks weren't enough to get you a ticket into Jackdaw's Flight. Maybe if you didn't ask that question about Andesite being black with white stripes or white with black stripes they may have been more welcoming. You can only blame your own idiocy 🤧🤧

- Elan's in heat again already. I don't know what to tell you girl, you're gay :/

- I'll consider breeding Polyphoe and Sagiste tomorrow :) Now that the OG Ms. Poly is gone, Polyphoe is now Ms. Poly cause its easier to type. Maybe she's new miss poly?

- Omg after reading Nelth's post on their new thread I realized I also never mentioned Tuco left for Fierce Grace :o do happy there lil buddy ~~and the rupina praise is making that girl's head spin~~

- Ugh I missed my first entry yesterday and was tempted to miss today because of the ever-encroaching Sadness (tm) but I'm doing it I'm doing it yahooo

- Yesterday's rollover first! Diti grew into an adol. That's actually it lmao

- Now for today: nothing :D except that my Large Bird Meat Trophy rotted away. Whats the point of having perishable trophies :(

- Didn't feed or amuse yesterday, and holy moly that's a chunk out of my hoard

- Got another DUMB, PERISHABLE trophy from a snake :/ whats up with these

- Arwyn grew up :^) pretty girl. Bred her to Corvus! Hope for a mela boy in the first litter? Hmm

- Still deciding what to do about Sagitise and Polyphoe's heats

- Sent a stud request for New Poly since I found a cheapy c: god bless the cheap studs thread

- I gotta name the unnamed pups today since one is already weaned and the others are getting weaned tommy lol

- I'll probably breed Sag to Poe for funsies and not nest her again

- Bred them! It would make sense for Sagitise's litter to have a lower survival rate considering she was the runt and has a weak body, but it would be nice to have more Tyka descendents to chose from to continue his legacy

- Should I do updated character sketches?

Day 45 - 3/17/2021

- Nasiphe's (still unnamed) litter has been weaned and they are off to the Skirt

- Got up to 25 slots but apparently thats still not enough o.o I don't even think there are any wolves I'm willing to get rid of. Terrine will be leaving in 4 rollovers for a low stat project but that's still not enough space for all the pups aging up

- Pshh even with my lack of space when I saw Esker was up on the TC I snatched him right away. Old boy is gonna romp around the Skirt with all the pups he deserves until he finally kicks the bucket. Lmao how funny that the first wolf in my dynasty is gonna be Not My Own

- The next to go is gonna be Alien, which makes me so so sad because despite how plain and generally un-lored he is I feel an uncanny attachment to him :/ Then herbalist Extotia is the next. I don't think anyone in the pack will regret her departure. But she still doesn't have an apprentice so let's hope she doesn't die anytime soon

- The keeper from Nasiphe's litter is named Glyf and is a russet girl, and the keeper from Ruelle's litter is named Bridge and is a nocturne girl. The rest of Nasiphe's litter is going to be put on the TC for 10 or 15 SC each

Day 47 - 3/19/2021

- Making a quick last-minute entry so I don't forget today. Forgot yesterday's but it didn't matter cause nothing happened.

- Since Nasiphe had a pretty heir should I get rid of her? Space issues are catching up to me

- First day of the second lunar event! Love love love the markings

- Rupy's in heat. Deciding whether to breed her. I think I will cause I want her to have the max amount of pups she can

- Oh yeah, Rupy made it to level 15 today! c: good hardworking girl

- Studded her!

- First day of summer I think? Damn I wasn't paying attention

Day 48 - 3/20/2021

- I woke up to an absolute maelstrom in my inbox but its not bad :^)

- Mela checkkkk!!! I got two achievements from Arwyn's litter today: 6-pup litter and first bred melanistic! yeehaw guys c: He's got them creepy ~~black~~ red eyes to boot. Gosh I love him

- I was mostly excited about the mela boy, but the rest of Arwyn's litter doesn't look that bad either. Capable cream girl, reliable almond boy (mela), helpful tuff girl, observant honey girl, dutiful howlite girl, and optimistic cream darker boy.

- I really wonder what the pack's reaction to the mela pup being born would be, especially since he was born from a pure white mother (right when she took up her position as clan diviner, too!) during the lunar event when ~vibes~ are wackiest. Not to mention he's got red eyes. Would this be seen as an omen, or a good thing? The pack originally saw discrepancies as kinda-blessings, as they were farther removed from this "mortal plane", but this is just too weird. I'm sure this would cause a stir.

- Everybody is deathly bleeding ill too. Arphid and Skaen came down with the flu, while Poe and Naadirr caught ear mites. It's hard to imagine a scenario where the birth of this mela boy wouldn't be considered a curse

- Rafflesia grown into a big girl!! Gosh she pretty

- Surprisingly none of Sagitise's pups were lost despite her not being nested. Maybe old papa Tyka is sending his blessings down? Here's another weird happening to add to the pile.

- Sagitise's pups with Poe: vulgar honeydew girl, quiet white boy, and arrogant glaucous girl. All pretty ugly, but thanks for trying girl! :^)

- Now for Polyphoe's litter! Arrogant dark brown boy, combative cream boy, and imaginative cream lighter boy! So far we're batting 1-2 with the worthwhile litters. Must have used up all my luck getting the mela boy

- Oh great, Gehenna caught ear mites too. This is cursed

- bought Selene marking applicator with what I had leftover :o hope to get another before the end of it, then I'll skip the eyes and save up for the next event

Day 49 - 3/21/2021

- Angel Eyes aged up into an adult

- Working on some potential pair bonds today

- Pair bonded Angel and Fhionne! I have so much to write about these two sweethearts omg. Will do at a later. Glass-hearted Fhionne is finally finding a home in someone else 🥺 I considered having her pine for Elan but I'm sick of breaking this girl's heart and more importantly I love love love some good old deep companionate love once in a while

- Angel and Fhionne are now expecting their first litter :)

- Wondering what to do with Rafflesia now that she's grown up. She's inbred cause of her mother, but I really like the way she looks. That said, I'm severely short on space and if I want to purge inbred wolves like I said I was gonna she's gonna have to go :(

- Breeding Terrine again to a low stat stud for a project, then she's off to find her brother, wherever he pranced off to

- Writing lore. Weird and maybe not good cause I've put so much off but at least I'm working on continuing the narrative :^)
