Day 15 - 2/15/2021

- Robot doing his thing, messing up the first hunt of the day :^)

- Ruelle delievered her pups! bingo and bongo. At first I was severely underwhelmed and ready to yeet them with my cold, dead heart but they look remarkably better when aged up. See? See?? I'm actually quite smitten with bongo. I think I'll be keeping her and selling/chasing bingo cause I don't want to fall into the pup trap. Just one or two of each litter will be staying with me :) the lore implications hmmm

- Need to give the pups proper names but it always takes me so long

- Bongos got pink skin! She's the first wolf I've seen with it and oh lord just look at her cute little eyes and pink paws omg i'm soft

- The snake wants me to slay 3 reptiles today. Says they're "giving him trouble". Oh, you've got beef, little man? You're just a snake

- We discovered the desert yesterday, btw! Now working on the swamp

- Rupina's finally level 9. I'm really on that grind now after discovering you can only see chased wolves at level 10

- The NBW from earlier was bought out, but it looks like he's likely to be chased cause the person's an albino breeder. Sad to see it, but sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles

- Skaen is like, very quickly overtaking Arphid as a scout. Arphid, please at least carry your own weight if you're gonna be so ugly

- Finishing up the 1st-page character sketches but I've got no inspiration for Shoof and Terrine

- Named the pups :) the keeper is Miss Frenesi and Cupra is her brother who'll be chased or sold when he's weaned

Day 16 - 2/16/2021

- Maagwi's aged into an adult

- Still playing around in the wardrobe. I kinda want my subsequent lead wolves to be descendants of Rupina so I can always trace it back to my first wolf, but lore-wise its up in the air. This is an option for her maybe? Ugh I just want rare markings on my heir

- Leaving Cupra un-pupsat for the drama. If its meant to be, its meant to be :^) let's see if he can pull through. Right now his survival chance is sitting at 60%

- Picked up a new pupper yesterday, welcome little one! Named Gehenna!

- Gotta remember to nest Extotia today

- I've decided I'm not really going to care about inbreeding, but I'm still going to try to avoid some of the more popular studs. The only one I'll check thoroughly is my breeding male, cause I know lots of people do care. Poe is the top contender for that position so far, and he's clean.

- Note to self: change Poe's base to Pale

- Bought a Feldspar pup because I have no impulse control :^) it has got to be one of the most beautiful bases though. Named Ladouceur!

- I wanna start writing down lore plans in this thread soon enough to explain some of the happenings I've been documenting, pack rules, rights of succession, mentorship, etc.

- I caved and changed Poe's base to pale today. He's aging up in 3 more days and I can't wait for him to become a stud powerhouse

- Fully scouted the Taiga with Skaen!

- Oh--barf 🤢🤮 Skaen got mange I think? My first time seeing it on a wolf, very gross, thank you. I just nested Extotia so I couldn't even craft the cure, but thankfully I had some in my storage

- Robot finally got kicked from the party and ooby dooby that hit on synergy h u r t s

- Maagwi added as chaser in place of Robot. Robot's moving to the Half-Moon party with Komo, to be joined by many of the romantic adols once they age :)

- so for parties, Sunstone is now all stoic and friendly, and I'm working towards making Half-Moon aggressive and romantic

- as soon as I changed Sunstone party around they captured a prey I've never seen before lol (mountain goat)

- Oh lord am I relieved. Gave Arphid a little makeover since I bought GC today and he looks MUCH more bearable now. I love the look of white dilution on black so much. It's probably one of my fave combos, and it's so simple :) I probably won't be touching him much from now on since I have no intention to breed him unless it's for lore. For my own records: I got rid of slot 2 white bottoms and added white dilution in slot 10 with a marking applicator.


Lore ramblings below:

- I think when I have the time and motivation to write lore for the pack, I'll make a post separate from these regular logs so people can easily differentiate? 

- Because winter is ending, I'd like to make a lore post about a post-winter festival and maybe flesh out the different age groups and their expectations. As of now, the pups don't do anything, the adolescents do "training" in the broadest sense of the word, and the adults are assigned to their roles. I'm thinking (like many others) that adolescents are grouped based on their inherent talents and trained up under mentors in the Serpent Skirt. This role would be assigned through the clan diviner (which currently is Maagwi)

- The clan diviner is restricted to only seeing what we (the players) can gather from the wolf's profile page, so just stats, proficiency in roles, personality, fertility, etc.

- I want to start and flesh out the other (opposing?) "clan" in the Shiawase Clans. Right now there's just the one, but I did name my pack plural clans with the expectation I would eventually make two separate packs. Then I could make two separate bloodline projects, one stemming from Rupina and the other from someone else. Perhaps pack dissidence splits the group we currently have? 

- I know I want my pack to go down the more mystical track, but not stray too far into the magical aspects. Somewhere in between. They have an affinity for natural poisons/venom, hence the cave names, but I'd like to expand on that more and make some rules to flesh it out. They aren't necessarily an evil pack, but I think it would be easy for them to become misguided under Rupina's rule since she is so ambitious and cares for her own people leagues above others. Chaotic neutral for now, but that's subject to change

- I need to make a lore-friendly way to introduce the pup rule and polygamy system since I'm obsessed with the idea of Rupina having a harem. Obviously, the pair bonding system would make this difficult to do in game, so I'm still considering it and the work arounds. Perhaps it will be unofficial polygamy. Maybe I'll just scrap the idea. Who knows? That's what ramblings are for :^)

- I'll need to come up with an heir rule

- I need to decide what I want to do with Rupina and Arphid's first little (Shoof and Terrine). Terrine got a breed-only T1 base, which is pretty neat, and her markings are 100% opacity, but she only has two of them and she's kinda plain. Stats blow too. They are so cute as adols, but not so much as adults! Shoof kinda looks like that one Lin Manuel Miranda biting his lip pic. I might keep one and have them have babies to continue the line, then chase them? They are firstborn so they're kinda special :)

Lore Post

The End-of-Winter Celebration

The first morning of spring was damp and cold. The air still held the bitterness of winter, but the smell of earth and leaves that had been covered up by the snow had returned, giving it a refreshingly crisp scent. Extotia watched her newborn pups huff their first breaths, leaving little clouds of condensate on their small, black noses. She instinctively curled her tail tighter around her body, nosing at each of them to determine how they were. A runt had been born. She was small and white, as if winter had sapped all the energy it could from her, leaving her with only a pure-white coat to show for it. Extotia feverishly licked the pup's head, trying to keep her mind from her growing anxiety. 

The pack had announced their desire to hold an end-of-winter gathering on the first morning of spring. Most of the wolves were already up, either preparing for the gathering or doing other small tasks. Extotia observed them through half-lidded eyes. She was exempt, obviously, but that didn't stop them from moving her nest closer to the central camp so she could observe. Their careless paws had displaced all the herbs she had carefully woven into the fibers. The last fifteen minutes were spent solely on trying to rearrange the herbs, making sure the good-smelling ones were closest to the pup's heads and the bitter, more medicinal smelling were buried under other nesting materials. By the time she was pleased enough with her work, the bustle in the center of camp was picking up. It seemed they were ready to begin the gathering.

Extotia watched them put out the feast corpses. The smell of the half-rotted meat made her sick, but it was a harsh winter and the clan couldn't afford to waste any food. Her pregnancy had made her sensitive to the smell and taste, so Arphid often put aside the smaller, fresher carcasses for her. For as much as they groaned about her unexpected pregnancy, they sure went out of their way to accommodate her. The thought made Extotia feel strangely bitter. 

Extotia was finally able to shift her body after her pups had finished suckling. Her eyes followed Arphid as he walked to the center of the gathering and started waxing grandiose about the upcoming plans for the pack. It was dull enough to lull her to sleep, but then something caught her eye. Poe, the resident troublemaker and rising star of Shiawase, stood rigidly to the side, his muscles tensed for some unknown reason. His eyes briefly flicked over to hers, then dismissively away. Extotia flattened her ears in irritation. He was just a pup, yet he had such arrogance about him. The sudden urge to spit in his general direction overcame her, but she tamped it back down. Had the pregnancy changed her to the point that she would retaliate to such little provocation? 

She huffed buried her chin in the soft nesting material, watching the goings-on with little interest. Arphid finished up his speech and beckoned Poe next to him. As they stood together, Arphid explained what they were going to be doing. 

"Our pack is less than a year old, but we are already flourishing to this extent. Many of you had scarcely joined when you were thrown right into a harsh winter, but the fortitude of the pack and your individual talents pulled through, allowing for growth even during the season of death.

"Now spring has come, and henceforth, we will be instituting a new ritual for those who have accomplished great feats."

He paused and looked back towards Rupina. Her countenance was unreadable, but her eyes betrayed her stony facade. She was absolutely brimming with pride. She made a small gesture with her muzzle, and Maagwi, who was by her side, made his way towards the two black and white wolves. He pulled a small pot from the bag strung over his back and carefully took the lid off. The smell that came out immediately overwhelmed her senses. She couldn't stop a growl from emerging as she hid her nose under her forelimbs. It wasn't just a rancid scent, but it was inordinately unnatural. All of her senses were screaming to never let that come within 5 feet of her. 

Maagwi continued unperturbed, smearing the foul-smelling stuff over the white fur of Arphid's stoamch. Arphid hissed a little, but immediately hushed himself up. Was it painful? Extotia's ears were flat against her skull. 

After he finished, Maagwi pulled out another pot of white paste. This one didn't smell nearly as unnatural, but it was still quite bitter. He began applying the white paste over the rest of Arphid's coat, meticulously painting an abstract pattern. After he was finished with Arphid, he moved to Poe, this time applying a thin line just along his spine. Maagwi set the pots down between the two wolves, touched his nose to the ground, and sauntered back over to Rupina's side. Rupina finally stood. 

"These two wolves have contributed greatly to the growth and potential of our pack. Arphid has demonstrated himself to be an unparalleled tactician and scout, as well as a valued member of my retinue. Poe has proved himself to be an invaluable pillar for our future, demonstrating the raw strength and mental prowess needed to lead our next generation. For the Shiawase Clan, these wolves represent the means to succeed: strength and stability. I hope you will all keep this in mind in the coming years, and I hope you will all stay with us for this long and prosperous journey."

At her cue, Both wolves vigorously shook their coats. Extotia could scarcely believe her eyes. Fur flew from their bodies, mingling with the cold, damp air and slowly falling to the ground. The patches of fur that Maagwi had painted over had been shed, and underneath them were new markings of varying color and depth. 

A cacophony of howls erupted from the crowd and Rupina could no longer hide her pleased expression. Her smile laced her next words with a sugary sweetness that made it hard for even Extotia to remain grumpy. 

"Now, enjoy the fruits of your labor and feast on the first big game of the spring!"

At her words, the yipping of the wolves ceased as they dashed forward and savagely ripped at the elk carcasses. The celebration was now in full swing. 

TL;DR

Grumpy Extotia has her nest of new pups, the first day of Spring festival happens, Arphid and Poe are bestowed new markings for their contributions, and Rupina addresses her hopes for the pack's future

Day 17 - 2/17/2021

- First day of spring :)

- Thank you for the bump, Aleah <3 all my love goes out to you

- Lots happened today! Naadirr aged into an adult, Gehenna aged into an adol, and Extotia gave birth to my first runt litter! I plan to incorporate all of these events into the lore post above, maybe. I'll chip away at it as inspiration hits me today

- Pfft so this is my first season on the website, and I'm pretty sure they only incorporated the percentage chances above the hunting trails once winter began, so seeing the chance go up so much was a shock. Guess I can start hunting large prey again!

- Extotia pups! The largest one is a conceited pup named Inei and he's got the highest stats of the litter at 333! The second pup is Pise and he's sarcastic with 325 stats. The third pup is named Polyphoe and she's a vulgar female with 327 stats. The fourth gal is named Petrallea and she's an Obnoxious female with 325 stats. The last one and the runt is the beautiful, yet unfriendly Sagitise with 308 stats!

- Wow, the whole litter produced absolute menaces. How did they all manage to take after their mother? Shiawase is getting more evil by the day

- I love how many quartz bases we have in this litter! It's such a subtle fade, but the lavender tinge near their paws is just so beautiful imo! Inei, my fave of the litter got another BO base: shell. 

- Naddirr joins the Half-Moon party as a finisher

- Prospective role for Gehenna?

- Which puppy am I keeping? I like all of the breed-only bases. So far the largest puppy is my favorite, but I also like the runt (even though she's lacking markings)

- So, uh, funny coincidence (NOT a blatant ripoff please don't hunt me down with extreme prejudice), Nelthyen's Bat and Arphid's new design look eERiLy similar

- Lmao tbh Bat was one of the first I saw with the white dilution on the black base and that made me fall in love with the look, but I didn't realize she also had the nose line and brownish-red dorsal going on. Bat's still much prettier, but they do look like they could be estranged siblings

- I'm going to get Rupina to level 10 today even if it kills me

- She's done it folks! Level 10 babeyy

- Arphid reached level 10 today also hmm. But Skaen just joined the scouting team and he's already level 8? I'm thinking I'm gonna reassign Arphid to the hunting party and get Poe on the scouting team to raise those stats. Lore-wise, Poe wouldn't do well in a hunting party since he Doesn't Work Well With Others.

- I really can't wait for him to grow up. Poe's probs my fave character lore-wise, even though I haven't written much about him. I'll get around to it eventually

- GC is really cheap right now on the TC, so I bought some and gave Poe a new random marking in slot 3 :^)

Day 18 - 2/18/2021

- I forgot to feed Extotia an extra use of food so all her pups got an 8% survival nerf :/

- I like the idea of RNG picking the surviving pups but at the same time I've already got plans for them that I don't want RNG to mess with

- Oopsie daisy - "Cupra tumbled down a hill and had his side snagged on a sharp, thorny branch on the way down. The wound will take time to heal - thankfully, Cupra does not seem too bothered. Oh no! Cupra gained a small injury and suffered -1 HP" - he's the pup of Ruelle's I left un-sat

- Ladouceur aged into an adol today!

- I've finally decided I'm going to chase Shoof so he forever remains an adorable adolescent in my heart. He's not dying! He's just going away for a while... doing teenager things. Goodbye you keen little guy 😢 Your stats are garbage but I hope wherever you find yourself allows you to live out your dreams

- Terrine will stay and breed a 3rd gen baby so Rupina has grandkids in the pack :) She'll miss her brother

- Shoof is definitely running away from home. He's sick of getting his ass kicked by Poe and having a mother who's too absorbed in her work to step in and mediate issues. 

- Shoof wanted to take Terrine with him but she wanted to stay. Who knows though, she may go looking for him in the future

- With Shoof gone things in the Skirt have been very uneasy. Poe has been unusually quiet and has begun spending long periods of time resting alone in the far corner of the cave

Residents of the Serpent Skirt now:

- Anodyne | Observant: stats 320; top stat STR 82 | 10 months

- Gehenna | Charming: stats 220; top stat AGL 50 | 6 1/2 months

- Ladouceur | Confident: stats 264; top stat WIS 60 | 6 months

- Poe | Combative: stats 382; top stat SMT 86 | 11 1/2 months

- Terrine | Independent : stats 186; top stat AGL & SPD 38 | 8 1/2 months


- Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I found this beautiful boy yesterday in the Desert :^) He didn't stay long, but he stopped by for a chat and played with the pups a little (I just like keeping records of pretty NBWs)

- I checked Extotia for Albinism since she's an NBW I'll be keeping, but nope: "Gene approaches Extotia and presses his ear tightly into her fur. He mumbles something under his breath before plucking a single hair strand directly from the coat. He turns his back to you and fumbles around with it and a series of objects. After a short period, he offers a small smile.. 'Extotia is clear for Albinism! Not a carrier.'". I'll check the other slots when I have the disposable income

Day 19 - 2/19/2021

- Poe has finally grown up! He looks great as an adult :^) And, as planned, he's been made breeding male. Visit him <here> if you'd like to breed him! Until I get him fully marked-up and statted up, studs will only be 50 SC and the rest will be refunded in a private trade :)

- 🥀 Inei got curious and followed an ant trail deep into a wood thicket. Hours later, he returns, thirsty, hungry, and peppered in unsightly bumps. The ants didn't appreciate 🥀 Inei kicking up their hill. Who knew so many tiny jaws could hurt so much? Oh no! 🥀 Inei gained a small injury and suffered -3 HP

- What a doofus. 

- I was stalking the TC again for low-lineage pups and I found these two! Russet (renamed Tohopko) and Sarder (renamed Nasiphe). The both of them have awful personalities lmao but boy oh boy are they gonna be pretty! My pack is going to be overtaken by villainous wolves

- Found this gorgeous fella in the desert yesterday. Selling him but I'll be sad if he gets picked up by a mutie breeder to be checked and chased :( If any of you reading want him, shot me a PM and I'll send him over

- Arphid made it to 100% scouting proficiency on the day he's being reassigned! That's exciting :) Makes it seem like he's retiring rather than being demoted lol

- Poe is taking over Arphid's role as a scout. Arphid is going to relax with the pups for a while before deciding what he wants to conquer next. 

- Skaen is not thrilled to be teamed up with Poe, but Poe doesn't seem to be too keen to play the apprentice anyways. Looks like the new scouting team is starting out on cold terms. 

- Rupina won her first trophy today! A bobcat's tail

- Ya'll ever eat a centipede in the desert? Pfft sure you have

- Poe leveled up 4 times today goddamn. He's a clean 400 (Strength 77 | Speed 84 | Agility 74 | Wisdom 74 | Smarts 91)

The Goings-ON in the Skirt

There was a universal sigh of relief the day Poe graduated from the Skirt. The last few months had been especially difficult on the trainees, and it was in no small part due to him. Even when he wasn't actively picking fights, it was hard for wolves to let their guards down whenever he was around. He had an intense disposition that made taking it easy in front of him feel disgraceful, so the wolves were always pushed to their limits. Even so, when it came to sparring, endurance training, and hunting practice, no one could get close to Poe's innate talent. He was the subject of many wolves' envy and resentment. 

Terrine, on the other hand, held more complex feelings towards the unreadable wolf. Her brother, Shoof, was unable to accept the severe difference in talent between Poe and himself. His inferiority complex would always lead to him instigating something with Poe, being soundly beaten, and then limping off to his sister for consolation. Terrine loved her brother but not his foolishness, so when he suggested running away from the pack to pave their own path, she could only balk at his suggestion. Try as she might, she could not convince him to stay. She was alone now, and all the expectations that had been split between the alpha's firstborn twins had fallen on her shoulders. The resentment she felt was not directed only at one wolf, although she found it hard to treat Poe neutrally regardless. 

He was undoubtedly a handsome wolf, and if the circumstances were any different, she would not have minded him courting her. Despite their severe gap in power, whenever Terrine was pitted against Poe in a sparring match, he treated her fairly and tried to avoid giving her unnecessary wounds. It was shameful how easily she was beaten each time, but unlike her brother, she would not as easily turn this shame into resentment. 

Now that Poe was gone, the atmosphere in the Skirt had gotten a lot more lively. Gehenna and Ladou were well on their way to making a home for themselves, and for that, Terrine felt grateful. Gehenna was a wonderfully warm wolf who, despite her apparent charm, had a rough introduction to the pack as she joined right when the tensions between Shoof and Poe were at their height. Now, she joked easily with the other wolves and smiled more. She was no longer that nervous wreck of puppy that she was a few months ago. 

Ladou and Anodyne made fast friends. They were the closest of all the adolescents in the Skirt. Terrine would be lying if she said she didn't feel isolated. Her brother was her best friend, and as such, she didn't really try to form bonds with any of the other wolves. Gehenna saw that Terrine was feeling lonely and went out of her way to be friendly with her, but Terrine's mourning made it difficult to make any real progress. Even so, Gehenna persevered. 

A little progress was made once the new pups were moved to the Skirt. The bustle of new bodies made it difficult for Terrine to feel Shoof's absence, so she slowly began to make strides towards healing. The pups all had strong personalities in their own right and it brightened up the Skirt a great deal. Toho and Nasiphe were mischievous little twerps and partners in crime. They caused a great deal of trouble for the main mentor, Arphid, but Terrine thought he could do with suffering a little. The other two green pups were of Ruelle's litter, Cupra and Frenesi. Cupra was a more reserved child and tended to stick by his sister in all things. Frenesi was bold, independent, and eye-catching. At first, Terrine worried about the pair, seeing herself and Shoof in them, but it became clear that their situations were very different. They were happy children who enjoyed their puphood to its full extent. Terrine loved watching them goof off and had a special fondness for Frenesi.

At times, during their end-of-day relaxation cuddles in the center of camp, Terrine caught Gehenna making eyes at Skaen. Each time, she smirked, making a mental note to tease the red wolf about it in the future. It was clear why the charming girl would fall for such a dark, handsome, and aloof character. It seemed Gehenna particularly loved the challenge of getting the closed-off wolves to expose their bellies, so to speak. After all, she managed to weasel her way into Terrine's heart. She wished for Gehenna to grow up quickly so she could support her crush and see Skaen squirm under the effects of Gehenna's charm.


TL;DR

Terrine reflects on the state of the Skirt after her brother's departure and Poe's graduation. New adolescents and pups are introduced in the apprentice program, livening up the atmosphere. Gehenna and Terrine make fast friends, as do Anodyne and Toho. It's revealed Gehenna has a crush on Skaen, the scout.

Day 20 - 2/20/2021

- Cupra and Frenesi were weaned today! They will be joining the puppies and adolescents in the Skirt

- Cupra is up for sale in the TC :)

- Poe got another marking in slot 5 (Red Cover (39%)). I liked his black and white look before, but I'm super into this pop of color. Still wondering if I should leave the rest of his markings up to RNG or do it custom

- Polyantha is in heat today. I think I'm gonna breed her to Poe for the fun of it :^) By the end of the day I'm hoping Poe will level up one more time and then I'll do it. She's quite pretty, that girl. Only a little inbred. It hasn't affected her cognitive functions that much so it shouldn't matter. Dumb little thing (affectionate)

- Snake wants a roadrunner feather, cedar bark, and a pronghorn doe carcass? I have literally never seen that before what the heck. You're getting fat, snake. Cut down on the large game maybe

- Wow, literally a minute after I posted this one of the snakes in the grasslands gave it to me. I already fed my wolves today hmm :/ don't wanna be wasteful but maybe I can trade it in the TC for a 1 use one

- Finally finished the Lore post above ^^

- Anyone want a buttload of of 1 use bones for decor? I don't have any recipes so I can't craft, but I wanna contribute to them pretty, decked out wolves of yours :') send me a PM and I'll set up a private trade for you! 

- Also on that note, got a bunch of unused arnica for any decor need of yours. Same goes here :)

- Changed my mind, gonna breed Polyantha on the last day of her heat to maximize stats since Poe is leveling up so quick

- Pfft and I lied. Who am I kidding? I have no patience. Poe and Polyantha are mated, Poly's preggers

Lore Post

I'm on a roll today friends. I felt like writing more lore but I already wrote about the pertinent stuff, so this one's going to be about my favorite character, Poe. Isn't it funny that I have a favorite character despite never really fleshing him out at all? Lmao, hopefully this will rectify it.

Day 21 - 2/21/2021

- Absolutely nothing happened in my rollover summary

- Old Mr. fartbag Robot got open wound from the first hunt of the day, and I think he's the first wolf to get one? 

- Actually I think Rupina had one from losing a fight. Robot's the first to get one from a hunt. I guess RNG has blessed me

- Rupina's in heat today so I'm on stud watch

- Bred her to the gorgeous Lore! What a handsome guy :) hopefully at least one of her pups will pick up some markings

- Polyantha showed up with an open wound now. I guess today's the day of open wounds
