Bring Mutations Back to the Scrying Stone

Bring Mutations Back to the Scrying Stone
Posted 2021-02-10 16:06:11 (edited)

Edit: I'm not asking to revert the new system - I just want mutie scrying back as an *alternative* to the pricier Gene system. If you like the new system, great, I don't. You don't lose anything if mutie scrying comes back. I'd just like to choose if I want to spend 20sc sc for a 'maybe' answer rather than 50-150sc for a definite answer. It's not cost effective if you're looking for NBWs.

Yep, me again!
I want to start off with a thank you to the devs for listening to our pleas and working so fast to fix something we weren't happy with. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that's deeply appreciated.

There's many of us who still think 150sc is still too much to pay for each wolf, and 50sc per pup will add up very fast if you're a mutie breeder, but I trust the developers will monitor the situation and make their own assessment.

That aside, I would like to ask the developers to please re-enable mutations showing up in the scrying stone.

Why?

Personally, I check every NBW I come across. If I want to check them now, I have to pay 100 sc each (I'm not interested in the lethal), and that's over double what I usually spent.

Here's the thing; there are double carriers, now. Up until today, I was checking female NBWs for albinism AND melanism with only one male wolf, because he's an adult double carrier .I spent 20-30sc checking for both genes. Now I have to spend 100sc.

You can get a definite answer for 150sc. That's great. But personally, with how many NBWs I go through, I would rather spend 30-50sc each (for both mutations, I never spend more than 50sc each wolf) and risk chasing a carrier, than be forced to spend 100-150sc to be absolutely sure.

Sincethe feature was disabled in the scrying stone to avoid scamming, and there is now a reliable way to avoid said scamming, please bring mutations back to the scrying stone, there's no reason not to. We just want to decide how much sc we want to spend on each wolf, at our own risk. Thank you!

I personally do not support. If the Scrying Stone option remains, I think people will try to circumvent the process. It will also in a way give an unfair advantage to studs, as people will be scrying them with their own females and may come across mutations that the owner did not use Gene to discover.

I Support.

I want the option to ‘risk chasing a carrier’ with the stone for all the reasons listed. Checking every NBW is too expensive now. I would rather spend the SC on the stone, having a mutie pup show up, and THEN going to spend the ‘extra’ SC to have them CONFIRMED.

do i run the risk of over paying? Yeah, i do. I may get unlucky. But that doesnt eliminate the times where that is not the case.

SC is just too hard to earn rn to be able to justify how much the site is asking us to spend.

No support. I vastly prefer a definite system and realistically if you're confirming a wolf as a non carrier after two or three scries where you didn't see a mutation then  most of the time it's  a waste of sc to have even checked that wolf in the first place

For clarification: I'm not asking to REVERT the new system. I just want mutie scrying in ADDITION to the new system.

You don't lose anything if you like the new system, no need to deny us who want scrying back if you like the new system better.

No one wants to deny you anything, merely pointed out the flaws in having both active at the same time. And the fact that you actually have probably a little more certainty now even if you only scry for one mutation per wolf rather than use Scrying Stone two-three times and then get rid of the wolf. Either way you could potentially be getting rid of a carrier.

I know. I'm willing to risk that if I can spend less, like I said.

No Support. Finding a mutie in the scries wasn't a guarantee the wolf was a carrier. The devs already said so, but not everyone knew it. People were getting mad that they were buying based on scries and not getting a carrier. That's a big part of why it was nixed and replaced with Gene. Bringing muties back to regular scry just puts that problem back.

Ngl even then it doesn't make much sense to use the old system unless the wolf isn't being sold or studded

No support. It'd be a better option for devs to fix how scarce SC is rather than keep the less optimal version of something.
