Temporary Freeze/Immortality Item (for Wolves)

Temporary Freeze/Immortality Item (for Wolves)

Hey devs!

I had a thought, and wondered if it'd be well-met by the community.

So, we all go through a point in the game where we're like "dang, I already have a breeding male, but I'd love to save this here pup for when he dies" but of course, we can't stop our "heir" from aging -- so what if there was an item in the Grove that allowed a temporary "freeze" on the wolf it was given to?

Basic Function: The item would put a temporary "hold" on a chosen wolf (say a set number of weeks) where that wolf won't age, need to be cared for, etc. for that period of time. Essentially, temporarily making them immortal so that you can continue playing the game, but also keep that wolf frozen at its current state until the item's time limit runs out.

I'd imagine it'd work very similarly to the Jellyfish, only temporary. Once it runs out, the wolf will resume aging, needing to be cared for, eligible for roles, etc. Players would need to purchase another of the item to use on the wolf again to return it to its "Temporary Freeze".

I'm avoiding hashing out the particulars only because I feel they are best decided by the staff (cost, length the item will run, etc.), which is why I'm not going to list them in this suggestion.

Since we can't have multiple accounts on Wolvden and since it's against the rules to transfer wolves to friends' inactive accounts to "hold onto", why not add a rule-abiding function to the game that's available to everyone?

Thanks for reading!

support! I have a breeding heir that will be 2y already when my current retires, while that's still a lot of time for the heir I'd like to maximise my time.

This would indeed be very useful of you someday find yourself having two pups who are both perfect for a role, and don’t want one of them go to waste. Support!

support for those who have a hard time getting food and such or keep running into room problems

Big support!

I have at least one or two wolves I would like to us this on for several reasons. It would certainly take a lot of time related pressure/anxiety off my shoulders when it comes to playing the game and rolling over regularly.

I wonder if the frozen wolf should still take up a regular territory slot or require an immortal slot (which would be freed up again once the wolf is unfrozen)?

Excellent thought! Again, I'm avoiding hashing out particulars because I feel like the staff will know how to make it a fair item for all, but this is an excellent question and I'm glad you support this <3

I support this, but feel like there should be some restriction to prevent stat monster wolves from living extended lives, such as not allowing a wolf that has been a breeding male to be freezable or only allowing wolves that have not been bred to be frozen.

Wait-it's against the rules to have a friend hold on to one of your wolves?

^ I agree with that!

Maybe someday I'll sit down and establish potential stipulations for this suggestion based on the comments provided here :)

Yep!

Under the Cheating & Other Inappropriate Gameplay section:

Do not funnel items/currency between accounts. Wolvden reserves the right to place an embargo to any accounts considered to be funneling. This includes but is not limited to:

Excessively transferring game items, currency and wolves between two accounts usually for the purpose of directly benefitting one account to receive an unfair advantage.

I know it says "excessive," and it's probably good if you're not doing it excessively... but there's always that chance you're gonna wake up one day and your account(s) will be embargoed lol

I support this, although the logistics of it might end up being complicated. I know I've heard of people in lioden using freezing to abuse the leaderboard. Maybe it could also take a wolf out of running for leaderboards when they're frozen? Idk if my info is accurate bc I've never played lioden, but it seems like a good point to bring up.
