Heartlands' Story - Tracker & Lore

Day 40 (Feb 3rd, 2021) Summer 5, Y2

Yesterday, I broke Sootvine and Yellowfang's pair bond. They made potato looking pups and will continue to do so. I love them both but I also want to have a descendant of at least Sootvine to keep. I bought a T2 female for him to try with. They'll likely breed multiple times as I try to get that 10% for a T2. Or, I'll base change Sootvine to a similar-looking Monochrome Dark.

Day 41 (Feb 4th, 2021) Summer 6, Y2

Last day of summerrrrr! I don't have much to say OOC wise so I guess I'll make a lil summary of what's happening ICly. Assume Snowtuft only had 2 puppies, Owlfrost had 2 (but one died before it was weaned), Velvetwing had 1 pup, and Yellowfang had 2 pups.

Lilypaw and Smokepaw were found weeks apart from each other. Lilypaw ran away from her own pack because her mother feared she would become too pretty and would ruin her chances of becoming Alphess, and Smokepaw was simply found at an Auction. The wolves aren't too happy about the new additions, but sucks to suck.

Also yes yes, I know Lilypaw's background is a bit cliche. We're going with it anyway!

Dustpup and Beetlepup, boosted by their father's pride, grow ever more prideful themselves, and continue to prove to be the strongest pups of the seven puppies.

Hailpaw gets his warrior name: Hailstorm.

In mid-summer, I was going to have a fire erupt in the forest and destroy their home, forcing them to travel--with lots of obstacles in the way--and eventually find their way in Riparian Woodland. So yay!

When we move to a Difficult biome, they’ll have a different reason for joining.

Eventually, in the lore, Yellowfang's pups will grow to be adolescents and join this nomadic group of adolescent wolves. It'll be a bit of a dramatic thing between the two packs. Yellowfang won't want them to go, and neither will Sootvine at first, but then he'll start to believe that they deserve to choose their own path. Besides, they're always welcome back. The other pups choose not to stay; Redtail's pups are extremely loyal to Heartlands, Featherpup could not imagine a life without his family and the stability he has, and Breezepup is...Breezepup.

Day 42 (Feb 5th, 2021) Autumn 1, Y2

Pretty sure Breezepup is gonna be chased by the end of the day. Velvetwing is a pretty girl, but I don't need too many T1s.

Eaglepaw has grown up today! His name will be Eaglestrike. I honestly had him up for sale two days ago, but by the next day took it down. I hate that he's a descendant of Orion, like so many of my other wolves are, but because of the lore, I'm too attached to him...So glad I stopped writing lore lol. No more emotions winning over logic!

I've decided to start a breeding project. I spent hours trying to find a good combination of markings that I could keep over generations, rather than acquiring it on one wolf and just being done with that. It's my (link soon) Wolves of the Glacier breeding project! The only GC I spend is on opacity changers, and that's it.

Day 43 (Feb 6th, 2021) Autumn 2, Y2

Smokepaw has grown up! Her name will be Smokewood. She's such a beauty; everytime I see her, it reminds me of the sweet, calming smell of burning wood, but I wasn't going to call her Burningpaw or something. Makes it sound like she has a dead foot or something.

Breezepup has not been kicked, but I haven't fed him yet today...a telltale sign he'll be going real soon.

With Hailpaw (now Hailstorm. Did I mention that?) at a high enough level from scouting, he will now join the Windrunners. Taking his place is Swiftbriar, formerly Stalker of Windrunner. Taking Swiftbriar's place is Robinwish. She was, briefly, Windrunner's 2nd Chaser (as she joined before Hailstorm), but now she will be their Stalker.

Rainforest is close to being discovered! I need it unlocked sooon. Gotta save up on parrot and toucan feathers for these new decors. I gotta decide how many people I wanna give these decors and which wolves will receive what. I wish I could buy at least a few wolves some backgrounds, but I'd only be able to buy 3 backgrounds since I seem to stay within the 3,000-4,000SC range. Wolvden gods, why must you play with my heart with these backgrounds? I wish you could craft backgrounds...

Oh yeah! I stopped having Snowtuft be a pupsitter because I figured she'd do good helping the Frostfangs before she unofficially retires. She will be open to being replaced if we ever need the space, which I doubt.

Chased Breezepup...Around the same time I impulse bought another pup. *facepalm* It was a cheap Lilac, okay?! With good lineage! AND IRISH MARKINGS! That's like, my dream wolf :(

Rollover, woo!

Listen, listen...I can handle the pack size, okay? You don't have to worry about me...I can handle this, okay?!

I'm considering kicking Featherpup...I've wanted a quartz in my pack but he's got 1 crappy marking and aside from being Whitestorm's pup, isn't that special. But then, I might as well get rid of Beetlepup too, right? Beetlepup won't breed, because Dustpup will. I kept them 'cause they have high stats. Huff. I wouldn't have to make decisions like this if there were better ways to get exp for my wolves.

You know, I kind of find it weird how I'm going about doing things. Because I use my wolves so they can level up to 500-550 so that they can breed, but once they breed a successor, I'll have no need for them to level up, therefore I have no need for them in my pack...Why do I do that?! I've got a good handful of wolves who have already bred and can otherwise be replaced.

A part of me kind of just wants to never breed, and to only buy wolves from adoption centers and the TC and whatnot. But then I'd kind of feel like I'm doing a disservice by not allowing such good looking wolves to breed *thinking*

And also the pup stages would be useless. So I can't really do that-

But--uuuughhh. I want a larger pack size! *pouts* Man, this sucks. You know what, maybe...maybe Featherpup and Stormpelt can breed? That way we'll have a wolf who is a successor of Barnaby, Jessie, and Whitestorm, which is 3/5 of the OG wolves. Ourwin will never breed, poor chap, but he will live on!

So, I'll tentatively keep Featherpup for that for now. Beetlepup, er, will probably be yeeted maybe? Would anybody want him? Good stats, sure, but he's a 1 marking T1...I think only newbies would ever want him. Hm.

Robinwish is a beautiful wolf. She is the prettiest NBW I have ever come across, hands down. I don’t think Austin's genes would do her enough service. *GASP* What if Austin and Dustpup mate in the future? Just gotta hope the pup doesn't get his black throat marking, but maybe they could have pretty pups! But then who would mate with Robinwish? Maybe Sootvine? I want Sootvine to breed bc he’s a beautiful T1.

One of these days I'm gonna deck an NBW out in customer and make him my stud. I originally never cared about that aspect of the game, but with my current hoard I don't think getting ~30 GC would be that hard >.> Plus now that I've reached lvl 15, I no longer have to burn through salves to fight faster!

Oh yeah, and I reached lvl 15 yesterday! Are you proud of me da? :D

Oh yeah again--I put Smokewood in Frostfangs, forgetting that Lilypaw was the Combative one and not her, and on her first and only hunt with the Frostfangs, there was a fight. That's actually the first time I've seen wolves fight in a hunt, because when I started out this game I pretty much read every guide I could immediately :'D Smokewood went to Windrunners, taking Sleekshade's place, and Sleekshade goes to Sunseekers, taking Owlfrost's place. She won't be breeding again.

Day 45 (Feb 8th, 2021) Autumn 4, Y2

Nothing's happeningggg

Other than my internal conundrum on who should breed and who should gain exp. I have so many beautiful wolves, yet none of them make good pups together! And besides, even if they did, they become completely irrelevant when they have a new child, because now they're earning exp for nothing.

I need helppp. I dunno how to manage my pack or what to do. Currently I'm at the idea of "breeding is the exception and only wolves who'd actually make pretty pups will breed" but now that kind of makes half my pack irrelevant and idk???

Like a part of me wishes I could purge my entire pack and just start anew, but I'm attached to these wolves and I'm worried people will just chase them after like a week or so, and skdhdosks

And I guess I could just do nothing and let nature take its course but I'd feel like something is missing and that I should be doing something. Plus I have like 5 upcoming pups turning into adults, and there's no space in any role except pupsitter (which I already have 2 of) that they could fill in so ?????

Why is this game so torturous Dx

Maybe I should just never breed... Like, Sleekshade and Hazelglow together will be the last, let all my wolves die of old age and just, try to adopt a totally new playstyle? Like... Maybe I should just dedicate my time to one of those adoption centers? I can take care of unwanted wolves until they find a forever home? Idk. If anybody has an ideas, please message me ;_;

In an effort to diminish the size of my pack, I'm putting Dustpup and Beetlepup up for sale. They're nothing special, but I figure they might be a cheap way for some players to get some moderately high stat pups. As for Featherpup, he will be chased before the end of tomorrow. There is nothing special about him worth selling, and I don't want him de-saturating the chase pool. Additionally, I have decided not to let Austin and Robinwish breed. I will have Sootvine and Robinwish breed with each other. Aside from the ones I have now, I will no longer be keeping or adopting any tier one wolves unless they are really pretty and I have the space for them.

I know, it sucks. Weeks ago, I would have adopted any pup, no matter the tier, no matter the marks. But the frustrating limit to pack size and xp gain forces me, and a lot of other people, to pick and choose what wolves we keep or yeet. So all my t1s except Jessie, Pinetree, Austin, Whitestorm, and Ourwin are now dependable. When the time comes that a wolf must take their place, they will go to the Retirees den.

Speaking of dens, I changed the names of mine! They are no longer Warriors' Den, Nursery, Apprentices, and Elders', they're Workers, Queens & Youth, Apprentices, and Retirees. Less Warrior Cats-themed because I believe it no longer fits, but I'll still keep to the name scheme.

Day 46-48 (Feb 9-11th, 2021) Autumn 5-7, Y2

So I WASN'T tripping! Autumn has 7 days! Wha-?! Someone explain!

Hold lotta nothin' been happening.

Decided that Sootvine and Robinwish will not mate. I found a lovely, cheap stud for Robinwish to mate with, but they don't meet the 1,100 stat req so I'm gonna wait until I send the request ;A;

My Glacier wolf project is slowly being made...still in the process of getting the initial breeding wolves, but nonetheless making progress!

I put Dustpup and Beetlepup in an adoption center. If they're not adopted before they become adults, they'll be put into the chase pool. I'd be sad to see them go, but I already added their information into my Record Keeping and prepped myself for the possibility that they'll be deleted.

Featherpup has also been chased. So like, damn, now I have no wolves left from that baby boom.

Also, I have managed to mostly avert my pack crisis. I've come up with a new system. Basically, like mentioned before, I will only keep t2s and only keep t1s under rare circumstances. Wolves will very rarely breed together. My current t1 wolves will now be considered Retirees. As I am too attached to them to give them up, I just keep them there as backup wolves. They can take on a role, but will be replaced if a T2 needs the role. Replaced doesn't mean kicked. They'll get exp as long as there is leftover space.

This system will be in place until they die or I lose all attachments to them and finally chase them. But I don't see the latter happening for a while...at least not with anybody that isn’t Owlfrost. Owlly, my babu, I am sorreh.

Next day update: There is no Autumn 7. I was writing at 1am my time, so before rollover. Does that mean my timing was the same for last IC season too? Weird e-e

Day 49 (Feb 12th, 2021) Winter 2, Y2

Thinking of moving to the Desert. I want more exp...

I am moving my hunters around all over the place. I hit 100% synergy with my Sunseekers ONCE and now never again lol. It's because a lot of the Sunseekers were expendable with my new system, so they kept slowly being replaced as more wolves came to light. The way I have it is a Windrunner replaces a Sunseeker, and a completely new wolf takes over the new Windrunner spot.

I have decided to discontinue my Glacier wolves project. I was quickly going broke trying to get all those slots for them. I'd need a lot of wolves if I wanted to end my project off with two non-inbred wolves of opposite gender. Plus I've literally never even seen a black shepherd/heavy wolf in either explore or even in the Trading Center! Now imagine trying to find one specifically for Slot 1. It all just wasn't worth it; I could cut corners to reach my end-goal faster, but I'd rather do it perfectly or not at all.

I got a Glass-eyed wolf in explore! My second one; the first one failed. She'll be breeding with Sootvine :) Their pups aren't too special, but that's besides the point, because they've both got some good markings. As long as those good markings pass on, no matter the opacity, I can always just buy opacity changers.

Oh! Almost forgot. Swiftbriar is going back to being a hunter. Instead of being Windrunner's Stalker, he'll be Sunseeker's Stalker. Sleekshade will be a Scout now. He and Hazelglow need to level up faster; they're the only two wolves I'm 99% sure will mate together. Yes, they're both young, but the faster they get to the preferred level, the more chances I have for them to give good pups.

Almost forgot this as well...The glass-eyed girl is named Marigoldpaw, after the flowering plants that grow in the desert (her pelt reminds me of the desert). Marigoldpaw is assigned Ourwin as a mentor. Ourwin hasn't had an apprentice since Willowpaw died, poor lad. It's the least I can do, seeing as though he'll probably be replaced by Stormpelt soon (who, in turn, will get replaced as well, when a viable strength-oriented wolf comes along).

Day 51 (Feb 14th, 2021) Winter 4, Y2

We got our first chased wolf in...weeks! o^o It's a nocturne female, 1yr and 1m old! The wolves have decided to name her Rainpaw, and Whitestorm will be her mentor. She's rather uh, non-reactionary to most things. Pretty silent, expressionless wolf, but otherwise doesn't seem to mean no harm, and seems to like the idea of joining Heartlands. Regardless, her lack of showing any emotion is a little off-putting to some.
