Trophy drop adjustments for high level leads

Posted 2021-01-03 16:22:21

A lot of amazing points have been made here, and I especially love the idea of enemies scaling more to the level of your lead. That's my biggest issue, and my lead is only level 16. I can't imagine how tough it is for those with level 20 leads.

Now I only fight foxes and anything for my daily quests because it's just gotten harder to find foxes in my level range and I worry about leveling up further :( I remember one day not finding any red foxes for hours and when I did find one it was level 2. The level is my biggest issue honestly, I don't mind the trophies being as rare as they are. I'm just having trouble having a chance to try and get any!

I'm also unclear about the levels for trophy drops, whether it was within 3 or 5 below. I'm going to try recording my findings from now on ^^

I support. I'd also be fine if enemies just leveled with you.

Support! I'm all for changing either the levels enemies to match the lead, or switching it so that probabilities of a good drop are better or worse based on the enemy level so that weak enemies are still worth something. I also think that foxes are still far, far too rare an enemy and need their frequency tweaked more (I run into 1 fox every 3 days and it is always like, level 2, and that is infuriating), but that's another topic.

All I know is I'm sick of fighting enemies hoping for a drop and all I get is healing salves. Something I am usually swimming in when I bother to go looking for foxes and other enemies for trophies and don't even need. It feels as if the game is seeking to insult me when I go through the effort of fighting a tough enemy and win, only for the reward to be basically a bandaid for getting into the fight to begin with.

This would be a very welcome change, it's fascinating how having a high-level lead is practically a punishment for the player in terms of how it has more drawbacks than benefits ~

Support. I only hit level 15 for the Special NBWs and in the last week how many times have I seen a fox that can drop a trophy?

A grand total of TWICE. I explore the moment my energy is full every 1 hour and 15 minutes. This isn't working for anyone who has high leveled leads for projects etc and seems to be a punishment more that anything else as I regularly see Cougaurs, Bears and even elk and eagles have the right levels for trophy's 75% of the time but foxes? Virtually non-existant.

I think just making it more likely that the enemy is closer to your level would be a good thing. (Naike suggested this on the first page, but it's such a good idea I'll reiterate it!)

Level 1 leads aren't going to want to take on a level 20 and by the time you're higher leveled, you're not wanting to fight level 1 opponents, at least not so much. Some people might still like the (almost) sure win so it'd be good if you still run into the really low (or high) enemies sometimes, and thus you couldn't fight everything you see for trophies... just tweak the percentages? The percentages of specific enemies could even stay the same (trophies are pretty clearly meant to be rare) but that would at least increase your chances.

Huge support! A lvl 20 lead has much lower chances for a trophy and it is a pain to get anything!

Agreeing with all this, especially the trophy adjustment! When I have found fox enemies higher leveled than me and won against them, every single time for a few weeks now I’ve gotten various forms of meat or, more rarely, healing salves instead of any trophy items.

Finally found a level 19 fox to defeat aaaaaand...my reward was a chunk of meat.

I really, really wish competitor/predator animals would stop dropping meat chunks. If foxes were more common and easier for me to find it'd be more forgivable, but as of now I'm only reliably finding ANY worth my time by plugging away with guarana - I haven't run into any at all with my usual 4-6 explores a day between my other tasks.

Support! I'm at level 17 and I've been having a hard time finding any enemies higher or even equal to my level.
