Alter 'Marine Animals' Battling Quest

Alter 'Marine Animals' Battling Quest
Posted 2020-11-25 14:15:14 (edited)

I believe the marine animal battling quest should be changed in some way. The following ways to change it could be:

  1. Increase the spawning chances for all marine animals.
  2. Restrict the quest until you have the Glacier unlocked.*
  3. Increase the chance of finding lower level marine animals.**
  4. Removal of the quest until more marine animals are added later on.

*Suggested by Frankenstein. **Suggested by Graciegra. Thank you both!

Why am I suggesting this? There are currently only 3 marine animals in the game - walrus, walrus group, and elephant seal. Two of those are located in the Glacier, one in the Tundra, and both can take time to reach. Particularly the Glacier due to its Wisdom requirements. There aren't any other marine animals in the game, they are exclusive to these areas.

When you get this quest, odds are against you. They're very scarce, and are even harder to find if you don't have the Glacier scouted. You are required to waste numerous bars of energy just LOOKING for marine animals, and when you find one, you'll be lucky if they're around or below your level. Considering how they appear to be naturally harder to fight, I find this ridiculous. I believe something should change in how this quest works in order to make it less frustrating to deal with.

If you have any suggestions regarding this, feel free to mention it! :)

I think it would be better to just "restrict" the marine animals quest from being rolled until you have unlocked Glacier, but either way I support.

Yeah would be nice to have that restriction if the quest stayed, I added it in the main post!

I have tundra and glaciar and I spent 3 days looking for marine animals before I gave up. You either don't find any or they are level 18 and impossible to beat.

I would suggest to make them spawn more at the glaciar biome or lower their levels

Support! I especially support reason #2 because if someone does not have either biome unlocked they are out of luck.

Not spawning a quest until you have at least a chance to encounter the requirements for it seems commonsense to me. Support.

Just got the marine animal quest which brought me here. Big agree, haha. Struggling to even SEE one (I have tundra unlocked, no glacier), and I'm already emotionally prepared to not have a chance winning against one since I'm only lvl 10.

Support, all the way. I feel like I saw a little more and was way more successful with them before this quest. I'm level 17 and can't even beat them when they're a few levels below me. They wipe me out like a fly. I also can't get glacier yet. Haven't seen but 1 walrus since I started this quest yesterday. And I've been grinding like crazy to find more, to no avail :/

Support, I've gone through a few Guarana just looking for them. It seems like quest animals in general become scarcer as soon as you roll a quest but when I only have Tundra unlocked, it's super frustrating.

I found the solution to the marine animal quest after spending way too much time & resources finding then fighting the things.

You spent 150 SC on the following items:
1x Snake Skull

Now I'm off to fight 2 reptiles, which if the quests were presented in opposite order I'd have had a coupla handy snake skulls in my hoard. /s
