Ability to Unlock More Breeding Males

Ability to Unlock More Breeding Males

Ability to unlock more breeding males.

First, let me explain my rough idea of how it would be and then my reasoning and arguments against other suggestions and the current system.

Idea

You'd start with 1 breeding male, and like with caves and wolf slots, you can buy more breeding male slots for an sc or gc stud.

PROS

- Males would be slightly less useless and more desired.

- More openings for Lore

- If you don't want to have more than one slot just hanging around, then you don't need to have more than one.

-Less opening for accidental breeding, like in other suggestions.

OTHER ARGUMENTS (and my reasoning on why they aren't as efficient.

"Let's just keep the current system!"

- Males are practically useless all in all, most people can agree on that.

- No work for admins, but I guarantee that these suggestions would continue to pop up, and I don't believe that they would continue *as much* (obviously they still would, but we can't change that.)

"Let's just have all males able to breed!"

- Stud market is guaranteed to crash, there would just be too many options to go through.

- Far more complaints about accidental breeding.

- Entire revamp of the breeding system; the mods have considered a lot of options for this breeding system, and I think this may be a bit drastic/already considered.

MORE CONS (Always updating with your replies)

- "it's not reALIsTIC"

Look, honey. None of the three options mentioned are realistic. Nor is this game a realistic one. Wolves don't talk to bears and become medicine specialists, and in real wolf packs the alpha male and the alpha female are the only ones to be breeding, and the rest of the pack is their offspring. (Alpha Male and Alpha Female only pairing was also considered by mods, but rejected.)

- More to come with your replies, thank you! Have a nice day.

SOME COMMENTS THAT I LOVE AND CAN INCORPORATE

- The amount of breeding male slots you can have is also tied to territory, so at like 10 territory slots you can unlock another breeding male slot for an sc and gc fee.

- Only 1 stud per pack, but other breeding males can breed within the pack.

edit due to pair update:

Not really pushing for this anymore, now that we have a fix! Thanks mods <3

Tentative support. I think it might be able to work but it could hurt more than help.

Would there be a limit to how many breeding male slots a player could purchase? If everyone has as many studs as they want that will oversaturate the stud market. However if the limit is very small, having 1-2 more studs per player isn’t going to prevent 99% of the males on this site from being useless, but it would still drastically increase the number of studs on the market.

I like that this idea would promote players to customize and invest in more of their wolves, since people tend to invest a lot in their breeding males to make them desirable. I just don’t think doubling (tripling, quadrupling...) the number of studs on the site is going to help the stud market or solve the useless male problem.

This idea would be a lot less work for the devs than allowing in-pack breeding for all males, though.

I can support this. Maybe they could have their own slots and there's a limit on how many you could have?

Supporting this. I loved your "look honey" reply because that basically sums up how I feel about the whole argument.

I still would absolutely prefer free breeding for all males or something similar, but quite frankly anything is better than the present system. Not to say this isn't a good idea--it is--but I do and always will prefer free breeding for all males. In the event that the developers decide against breed-all-males but are willing to consider a different system, this would be a nice compromise.

I like the idea, but maybe have the ability to unlock a new stud tied to territory. Second stud unlocks at 25 territory and a third at 50 territory when you max out the sc slots, with a fourth at 100 territory and a fifth at 150 territory. Each new stud slot costs 10gc, going up in increments of 5gc, and maxes at 25gc for the fifth stud. That way, it keeps the stud market from being too flooded, and creates a gc sink for those with massive amounts of gc.

I don't mind the idea, but I like the idea of maybe these breeding male slots being pack exclusive?

Like, you can assign more males the right to breeding within the pack, but ultimately only a single stud. One wolf gets studding rights and the other breedable males can be used on your own females

You could argue that then people would just trade around their females to breed with those ones, but that can just happen in the original suggestion anyway.

Like Orias, I've been wanting number of studs based on territory size. I've been guilty of using a number of Sex Changers on my males just so I can breed them. I'm sure that makes for good income, but if people have more stud slots, that can result in more investments in the wolf customizer. But that's just me. :P

Support!

I like this idea more than the ones that ask for just open-game, everyone-can-breed breeding rights for males. This gives a bit more freedom than what we have now, but also doesn't let it get chaotic and willy-nilly. There's still a limit, even if its a loose one.

I'd like to see the non-stud-breeding option set as a pack role -- to where you don't have to commit forever (until the wolf dies), in case a better male comes along and you want to switch them out.

Honestly, IDK if this would be game-breaking, but that's for the staff to consider and figure out. It'd certainly be different, especially from how the "game model" goes (looking at you, Lioden). It'd surely add more value to pretty males born in-game, and that'd certainly be a plus because they're at little to no value at this point, unless used as a stud or part of an all-male hunting party.

Support! If you made the buyout in GC I believe that would be reasonable because stud slots seem like a 'luxury feature' (similar to immortality slots, fun to have but not a requirement) therefore should cost GC to unlock.
