Count Down Timer to Rollover

Count Down Timer to Rollover

Hi devs!

Today, I thought about a Count Down Timer to Rollover.

This Count Down Timer to Rollover will alert players when the game is due to restart for the next day. This change would allow players to monitor to make sure they have all puppies under a pupsitter, to make sure all wolves are fed, and moods boosted. It would allow a last chance to alert us before it's too late. This change would also help with Daylight Savings when in some parts of the world, the Rollover time changes and a player isn't used to the change yet and messes up the time.

I had this idea because I realized [Tunnel Focus on a Task] in the game, and I feel my idea will fix this [potentially for some players who sometimes get too absorbed in the game] because of [it's always a really bad and disheartening feeling when you thought you had time but then Rollover takes you by surprise]. Alternatively, I had this idea because I realized my idea will add something special to the game to [have a unique timer which could also be implemented to events as well or allow players to add count-down timers to future raffles, auctions, etc].

In order for my idea to get added to the game, I think the following will be required from the devs: [artwork: This could really just involve noticeable text fonts on the Home Bar above that is displayed on all parts of the website or be added under the date and time], [coding: add in a calculation of a timer, could even add in an option in settings of what kind of timer players would like to be notified for, however that seems more complicated and I'd like to stick with a timer to Rollover], [writing: It would look like this: "Time to Rollout Reset: XX:XX:XX " with the XX.XX.XX representing Hours, Minutes, Seconds], [server tweaks: I'm not quite sure how this works?].

Thank you for considering my suggestion!

We kind of already do... RO happens at 00:00 (midnight) wolvden time, I'm not sure why we need a countdown timer.

Would this be on the Rollover page?

wouldnt that be more redundant then just checking the site time, which is on all pages?

Didn't think about that, I focus too much on my time instead of Wolvden time. Also didn't realize it always reset at midnight Because it doesn't reset at midnight for me.

Honestly, I'd like something to alert me like "10 minutes until Rollover! Are your puppies safe?" "5 minutes until Rollover! Are your wolves fed?"

Like a safety net reminder system.

Any thoughts that could help make someone who's too focused in something get alerted that the site is about to do a rollover, Phantom StarsX#2789 ???

I don't think there is a need to have a timer on every page, as you can just check the clock to see when midnight is approaching.

RO timer is on cooldowns as well.

Where are cooldowns located? Does it alert players easily?

Cooldowns is located in the drop down menu at the top of the site where your name is. The hours and minutes before rollover is located at the top of the cooldown menu.

I support this! If you're on close to rollover it is REALLY easy to miss that rollover's about to happen, which can be a problem if, say, you need to make sure your lead wolf is 100% hunger (since explore can knock you down just a few percentage points, hardly noticeable). I'm sure this isn't an issue for a lot of players, who have rollover occur late at night and take care of everything before they get offline for the last time and go to bed. But for me, rollover is at 11PM! I am frequently still up at that time, and I have had multiple instances of refreshing the site to realize that rollover has arrived. Like, yeah, the time is in the corner, but if you're just doing your thing it's easy to not think to look over there. I don't know how difficult it would be to code an alert just for players who are actively online that late, but I know I would really appreciate getting five minutes warning to double check that my nursing mothers are all fed, pregnant wolves are nested if need be, and that sort of thing. I think it would be very helpful for players whose rollover isn't at really late hours.

I agree this isn't an issue for probably the majority of the player base, but if you get caught in the situation where you're doing something and then rollover happens, it's a really really awful feeling. Rollover is at 1AM for me and I'm usually up ALMOST around that time on my days off. I usually go to bed around the same time which is why I don't think I'd hit rollover since I consider rollovers to happen after I wake up.

When rollovers happen, there's a site messaging that refreshes the page, no matter where you are at on the website, and prompts you to accept the rollover feature.

I would love to see a feature that works similar to when we get prompted to rollover, but instead, it's a warning that rollover is about to happen.

I play World Of Warcraft and when servers restart, they always give a 15 minute, 10 minute, 5 minutes warning and then a countdown until it kicks you off for reset. Seeing this alert has really helped me get my last needed stuff finished or not start something until I come back.

Essentially, I view wolvden rollovers as a "server restart" and ultimately, I would like to see a warning system in place to alert players.

Support!

I have ADHD and that makes time more of an 'in theory' sort of concept, so anything serving as a reminder for stuff is a blessing!
