Flavor text to guess wolf's personality in Befriend

Flavor text to guess wolf's personality in Befriend

What the title says. I think it's a bit unfair that when befriending a wolf, you can fail just because you got your first guess wrong. What if you find a really pretty NBW with all sorts of special markings and fail because it was aggressive instead of friendly? That's kinda annoying.

So, I suggest this, to make it easier, but still not 100% know the personality right away. Add flavor text for when you start befriending! It has flavor text for the different moves, but none for the start... as far as I know. If it does and I just didn't see it then I'm just being an idiot lol, but I don't think it does. Basically, it would give a slight indicator of the wolf's personality. Or at least, which "personality group" it falls into. What I mean here by "personality group" is friendly/romantic or stoic/aggressive, since in befriending a move that friendly loves, for example, romantic is good with, while aggressive hates.

Here's an example. If the wolf is friendly or romantic it could say something like:
" The wolf looks at you alertly, they seem interested in you and are hoping you're nice. "

While if the wolf is stoic or aggresive it could be something like:
" The wolf looks at you somewhat judgementally. They're waiting to see what you'll do. "

That's just examples, obviously the actual text would be written better lol, since I just thought of these on the spot. So yeah, basically that's it. What's your opinion on this? c:

P.S: another possible option, but quite different, would be simply reducing the impact the first move has?? But idk.

I recommend using the wiki / learning which options increase the mood by 4-6 instead of 2-3, you can typically save the encounter even if you anger the wolf first. ^^

I support this, it would be nice to have some idea right away rather than leaving it to blind luck.

That being said, Mossfoot is right. You can still easily win a NBW even if you select the wrong option first. You just have to know what gives higher mood.

@Mossfoot @Joyce33657  -- Ty for the tips, and I have seen that guide, but I'm too lazy usually to actually check it out :'D  I just go with what I think works from prior experience, usually. I still think having just something to at least vaguely guess the wolf's personality would help, but I will definitely use the guide more for future refernce. :)

I've had instances where my initial interaction trying to befriend a wolf put them off so much that even with all the "correct" actions I still failed. This would be super helpful. :3

While I think the flavor text would be cute, I imagine it would be too easy for people to start memorizing which ones go with which personality groups, and then make it too simple to claim the wolf. It already seems a bit easier to me than Lioden’s claiming system, where even choosing the “right” option for a personality still has a chance to fail. Having Wolvden’s system be easier isn’t a bad thing, but I do think that automatically knowing a wolf’s personality would be too easy.

@Wildtale - Exactly, that's why I suggest it :D

@BlueFox - Yeah, I understand that it might make it a bit too easy, but it's still sometimes really disappointing to lose a very nice wolf in befriending due to an error you had no control over. Another option would of course be changing the amount of moves you have from 3 to 4, but this might be an even worse solution? Idk.
Another option would be having lots of different flavor text, with very subtle differences, so it would still be fairly tricky to tell exactly what personality the wolf has.

Maybe an option to pay a small amount to have their personality revealed before having to make a move?

@BlueFox -- Well, there's already an "auto-befriend" function if I'm not mistaken, so there wouldn't really be any point paying to reveal it when you still have a small chance of failing.

I used to think that whether fight or befriend comes up first determined if it was stoic/aggressive or friendly/romantic, but it seems to be it's just random. I feel like if that was the case it'd be something to give you a hint but still something that you have to be careful about and not as easy as just flavor text. Maybe? I don't know. I definitely support this.... or making it more clear which actions are Big ones and which are Small so you can guess easier. The fact you have to consult a user-made guide or otherwise basically have a huge fail risk seems a bit harsh.
