Slightly lower Raccoon BG price

Slightly lower Raccoon BG price
Posted 2020-11-08 15:39:45 (edited)

(Sorry if this is a duplicate of a thread I missed, I checked via Search and there didn't seem to be one about this)

So the admins are adamant at not adding biome-specific default BGs because they want people to buy the Raccoon BGs. That's fine, but people largely aren't due to the attached price tag and SC being harder to come by due to the Raccoon price cap and the changes to battling. Last I checked most BGs besides Blue Moon are in the single digits in the item search. They are very much out of casual player's hands. The default BG is also a bit lore-unfriendly as it's based off a specific biome rather than somewhere generic.

So reflecting the differences in economy between the two games I think BG prices should be somewhere in the 500-750 SC range instead to make customizing your pack *slightly* easier. And with a slightly lower price more people would end up buying them and trading them between biomes as intended, possibly stimulating the sluggish economy a bit.

I agree with this! For a game about having a pack and customizing and decorating wolves, the price of giving them backgrounds as part of that decoration is kinda prohibitive. 1000sc is a LOT, especially when the raccoon could only give you another 300 on a GOOD day, and if you don’t manage to sell anything else in the Trading Center, you might get another 50 if you’re lucky by exploring.

By that math, if you don’t spend sc on anything else, and somehow manage to take all of the Raccoon’s sc each day AND it has 300 each day, and you manage 50sc from exploring each day, it would still take you 3 days minimum to afford a single background. Of course, people don’t manage to take all of the raccoon’s sc every day, and the raccoon doesn’t have 300sc every day, and people are often spending sc on cures, wolves, food, amusement, diagnoses, scries, studdings...

It just would be so nice to be able to better afford backgrounds.

I 100% support. I think the most SC I ever had in this game was.... 600? And I spent it all almost immediately on upgrading my den size and such. Plus I only got that much from trading, which is pretty unreliable in my opinion. But yeah, the point is that I agree with this, and it would be great to have more affordable backdrops <3

support, this would definitely help me out ! since we're all new and currency can be really difficult for players like myself to come by, i think this would be nice. maybe there could just be a few backgrounds with lower prices ? i definitely agree with all points made though ! ^^

prices add up quickly here. the costs of territory expansions alone take up most of my profit if i'm not splurging on art :")

No support from me. SC feels scarce right now because everyone's pouring it into territory slots. Once that's done, there's not gonna' be an awful lot to spend it on, and I expect the backgrounds will be a good sink.

I absolutely support it!

Backgrounds at the moment are way too expensive, and paying 1000 SC for decor is just way too much.

I mean you should go for territory slots but there's always that point where you have some excess money.

@476 My opinion is that it will go the other way, people will start buying and trading backgrounds even more, and decor is a wanted item.

Support! I know for some people SC are much easier to come by, for example, those who sell art or other services in the forums, but for those who do not have those options saving up SC can be quite hard. Although I plan on opening up art commissions soon myself which should help bring in a steady flow of currency for me, I currently have a very hard time gaining funds for things such as BG and other decor. Though I could definitely save up for it over time after I start making more in my art shop, I feel like it's still a bit pricey, especially for those who don't have the luxury of a steady income on here. But, these are just my thoughts, and I'm sure many others have varying opinions on the subject. Either way, eventually I will get my paws on a hot springs background for my lead, one way or another lmao

I support this because frankly I feel like 1kSC is a LOT of saving even if you're avoiding territory expansion. That's a lot of constantly checking the game to hit up your herbalist/hunters/scouts and running through your energy for the chance to find stuff to sell. Its been really difficult for me to sell things on the TC despite pricing my stuff at first or second lowest listed price. I don't expect that to get much better as time goes on if I'm honest. I'm hedging some serious bets on amusement, building materials, and medicine getting cheaper and cheaper due to players leveling up and having access to those resources more frequently. And the only thing that people really sell besides that are puppies and people are practically giving them away for free unless they're a TII base or have exclusive markings.

I think the economy in the game needs to stabilize before coming to any real decision but with how things are going its really hard to make money in this game unless you are either a) lucky b) willing to spend GC on SC c) have triple merle studs with high stats that people actually want to breed to. Or pups like that that you're selling outright.

I think they should consider cheapening / making some cheaper decor but have more expensive ones as well. Or giving some out while exploring. Or having achievement-tied decor.

I’m someone who plans on getting backgrounds for all my wolves (A far off goal I know lol) so I definitely support this idea.

Some people might only make around 100SC a day from the Daily Snake Quests and that’s even if they can complete the Quest in time. Even if someone were to save and save everyday, they might only be able to get a single Background from the Raccoon and still have to struggle to make up for the big expense. I definitely think the price should be lowered to at least ~700SC, though 500SC would be even better! Plus, if later on SC becomes abundant the price can always be kicked back up to 1000SC.

Huge support for this. I'm an unemployed (thank you covid) internet-prone human so I've got a lot of time to spend on this lovely site, yet even checking in on my wolves basically once an hour AND taking quests every day AND being active in the trading center AND being a user for almost two months now (whoa), I've never hit 1kSC in my hoard, ever. Frankly its such a high number that I don't really see the point in saving up for what is essentially a fun extra when I'm spending my SC on actual game mechanic things, like other wolves, salves I need, den slots, etc. It's been feeling like a prestigious late-game perk to me, which I'm happy to work up to, but when every background is that expensive it just feels like a LOT of work is being put in by artists etc into a part of the site that players just straight up aren't engaging with. Maybe @Coal is right above that it's just the site's economy being so new, but 1k feels wildly out of reach when thats 10+ days of questing without spending a dime. And when you factor in that the trading center is not moving a ton in SC because new players = needing SC for den slots, dropping a ton of mulah on something that (game-mechanic wise) meaningless seems a bit out of wack.
